This Hyperion Theater review is a bit late. I had to come here to see Rogers the Musical when they had their limited run here at Disney California Adventure, but I also remember coming here to see Aladdin, and some of the other musical productions that they had here previously. I forgot what a great spot this is and right now it's not being utilized. I hope the future they do have more and more productions. Rogers the musical was amazing and I am so glad that we're able to see it towards the end of their run. The cast members did a great job organizing and directing where everybody should go. It was so blazing hot out that day that I was very thankful for the shade that the trees provided out there. While lining up, they had us choose what section of the auditorium we wanted to be in and we would wait in that designated area, but once we were there they would announce once the section was allowed to go inside, it was a free for all at that point and there is no line. I hope and I can't wait to see what they have in here next. read more

Enjoying Rogers the Musical and upgraded for the VIP package($29 + tax) which includes kettle corn in collectible bucket, drink, lanyard, waiting area, photo op and early seating. Definitely worth the price. The show tells the story of Captain America in about 35 minutes with singing and dancing. We sat 7th row center and could see everything. There were some song lyrics that were difficult to understand. Amazing talent and sets. The show is only running for 8 weeks, so see it soon! read more

Nice theater! I've seen the Aladdin performance awhile back. It was very cute. My nephew loved it so much. It was magical for him. For me and the rest of the adults in the family, it wasn't bad. It was air conditioned and you could sit down. So that was nice. You gotta break up all the walking at the park and take breaks. This is a nice way to do that while watching a good performance. I plan to go back to see the Avengers show. Can't wait for that one! read more

Located inside Disney California Adventure Park. This theater was used many times in the past for shows like Aladdin and Frozen. Now this summer of 2023 they premiered a new musical called Rogers the Musical which is based off Marvel's Captain America. It's singing, dancing, acting out Captain America's life from the beginning to the present. The theater itself is huge compared from how it looked from the outside. The best part it's air conditioned. The seats are kind of closely tight but you still have a little elbow room depending on your size. The sound is actually not bad for the size. Overall a great theater to catch a show at in DCA I hope they utilize this more often now even after the running of this musical. read more

I love going to theatres such as the Pantages, Ahmanson, or Segerstrom to catch a musical. The Hyperion doesn't get enough praise for just how nice of a theatre it really is! I recently came here for Rogers: The Musical. I ended up purchasing the Premium Viewing Experience which came out to $31.25 including tax. The best perk was that it allowed for prime seating up front. The experience also included a collectible lanyard, roped off preshow waiting area, a Coca-Cola bottle beverage of your choice, Rogers: The Musical popcorn bucket, and red, white, & blue colored kettle corn. Whatever they have playing here, you should come check it out! It's a good stepping stone towards watching a full length musical. read more

Now, I don't know what happened to my previous review but I will just say that the Hyperion Theater has some great musicals. Currently playing is Rogers, the musical, based on the musical mentioned in the Hawkeye series on Disney+. Previously, the Hyperion was home to the Aladdin and Frozen musicals. I heard that Rogers will be a limited run, possibly through August 2023. It's heartfelt, action-packed, cheesy, with a dash of romance thrown in. I loved the show. While I wasn't able to get into the virtual queue, I was able to do the standby line that starts 45 minutes before showtime. I was able to get a seat in the orchestra. The line snakes through the courtyard next to the Hyperion and there is some shade from the heat of the sun. If you're looking for some solid, wholesome entertainment in an air conditioned theater, check out the Hyperion for the next showing of Rogers! Check the app for showtimes and dark days. read more

"I can do this all day" does not apply to waiting endlessly in queues, so my party leader put us all in a virtual queue for the experience. Our party got desynced due to one person having to use the restroom and there was no indication of how long we had to utilize the entry window in contrast to getting advance booking from a ride, but we managed to save some seats for the desynced members even though they entered about 5 minutes later than us. The presentation that was being exhibited was Rogers the Musical, which was more or less the same funny musical as in that episode of Hawkeye. It goes through the origin story of (MCU) Captain America and has some musical numbers about him going back to the past. A couple of lyrics in the presentation sounded kind of like stuff that a common person would not know in-universe unless some hero told the composer the information. Like Daredevil's day job. But it otherwise sounds a lot like it could be an in-universe musical production, though probably with the factual accuracy of those stage plays the Asgardians keep making in the Thor movies. I now know why Hawkeye turned his hearing aid down while watching the musical. I have no such luxury with normal hearing. It was very loud and I covered my ears when possible. Other than that the presentation was enjoyable, though it's not really something I would have spent my time on here if I were the party leader (we were recommended to watch the musical by a person I don't know well). After the performance a member of our party had determined they lost a phone inside and they wouldn't let him back in to get it, so affiliated family members gave the exact location we sat in to cast members to try to retrieve it. This process took about 20 minutes to complete and no other party member was interested in doing something else at the time so we just waited for them. There seems to have been a conflict of proper procedure for retrieving an item of this sort as they had memorized where they sat and it took a long time to receive the phone despite knowing where they sat. read more

Wonderful theatre! I was sure what to expect as we went to watch, "Frozen," one of my daughter's favorite movies. The show was about an hour long and my 2 year old daughter did really well watching the entire show and singing along. I was impressed with the vocal quality and the other special effects. It was like watching a musical on Broadway. I'm very pleased with the show and highly recommend it! read more

The theater is great for when you want to kick back and relax for a while after being on your feet the whole day. They have comfy seats and thankfully air conditioning inside. However I miss having Aladdin here. Frozen wasn't bad. It had great graphics and I loved Elsa's song "Let it Go" but that was mostly it. It didn't have as much humor as Aladdin and there was more going on in Aladdin. Besides the actual musical play, the service was okay. We had a wheelchair in our party, sl we went to the wheelchair section at the top floor, but they took our wheelchair since theh said it was a hazard. Also, the fact that they didn't return our wheelchair like they said they were going to do after the performance was just unacceptable. My dad looked out in the hall for it but couldn't find it, and actually had to go all the way to the lower level level to go get it. Otherwise, pretty decent play, just can't say much about the service. read more

This is a beautiful theater! The show is the show, but the theater itself is very well done - lots of attention to detail went into it. Seats were comfortable and we had a really good experience once seated. The downside to this, and only thing keeping it from a 5 Star is getting into the theater. You're herded into waiting pins outside the doors, sorta like cattle waiting to get on the truck. Once the doors open and they start to let people in - its a mad-fight-for-your-life dash to get in. You have people bursting from the back to weasel their way to the front, stealing the best seats in the house from the people who were waiting first. Of course, no punishment for their rude jerkish behavior.. My wife and I got there at 11am for a 12pm show. We were one of the first people there, up near the front of the doors for the orchestra section. Well within reach of being the first ones in the building for the close front-row seat section... they open the doors, start letting people in - and all of a sudden Im getting pushed out of the way by people pushing up from the back! We ended up 5 rows back, jacked by people who were pushy, rude and inconsiderate. You would hope that someone who works there would look out for that, or streamline it in a way that the people who were waiting first would get first choice - but instead its a "ready - set - RUN!" So next time, Im not sure I'll wait with the honest people - instead opt to arrive late and douchebag my way to the front. After all, staff wont care.. (just kidding, Im not a jerk - but boy, times like that make me want to be!) read more

Frozen theatre show- 5 stars. What an amazing performance! The entire cast was great. Both Olaf and Sven were puppets and bravo to the stage crew who handled some amazing special effects. Plenty of great seats on three levels. The theatre holds 2,000 people. Lighting and sound were done right. Snow during several scenes! The cast are on and off the stage in the audience. Wonderful show and highly recommended for all ages. Approximately 1 hour long. Don't miss it. read more

I love love LOVE this theater!! Located right between Hollywood Land and the Guardians of the galaxy ride. They don't let you start standing in line or loading into the theater until about 30-35 minutes prior to the show Snack kiosk conveniently right at the bottom of the theater (popcorn, candies, drinks, and cotton candy) Unlike the Disney Jr show you can TOTALLY snack during this show!! Shows about 1 hr, bathrooms are outside in Hollywood so make sure you use the bathroom BEFORE entering the theater If you have a choice I would go to the second floor seating not the ground floor, some of the props in the show aren't viewed great from the bottom level AMAZING SHOW!! My favorite part was the dress change during "Let it go" by Elsa ;) get your video camera out, TRUST ME you'll thank me later. read more

Great theater, the vast majority of seats have an excellent view of the stage. It is very modern, with plenty of special effects that are put to good use in the shows. Recommend arriving early for shows, since they can be popular and fill up the theater. read more
