A great ride to do if you have Younglings because it is air-conditioned and dark. If you're overstimulation meter is going over 100. It's a great five minute cooldown. The effects just like the other older rides bring a sense of nostalgia and make you feel young again. When they decorate it for Halloween and have Jack and Oogie boogie, it is even better. Will definitely update with pictures. I just don't like posting pictures of my kids. But the Halloween themed nightmare before Christmas goes until December 29 I believe and it's well worth visiting. I don't think anything about this ride is too scary and I have brought my infant Your child may get scared when the room drops and the fake lightning goes off, but that only lasts a second or two. And the room does not drop fast. It slowly moves from the second story to the first story where the doom buggy is. read more

Just rode the Haunted Mansion and it still holds up as one of the best rides at Disneyland. The vibe is perfect--creepy but not actually scary, so it's fun for pretty much everyone. The whole experience starts before you even get on the ride, especially with the stretching room, which never gets old no matter how many times you've done it. Once you're in the doom buggy, the ride really shines. The scenes are super detailed, and there's always something new to notice each time. The ballroom scene with all the ghosts is probably my favorite--it's just classic Disney storytelling. And of course, the hitchhiking ghosts at the end are always a fun touch. Wait time can get long, but it usually moves pretty steadily, and it's 100% worth it. This is another fav ride of mine. When I'm tired and want to rest my feet, I love riding this ride because it takes a few minutes. The ride is very calm but it is dark. In my opinion, it's not really scary. If you come during the winter holidays, the ride is decorated with nightmare before Christmas. Honestly, I wish they would keep it like that. Haunted Mansion is one of those nostalgic - Must Go - rides at Disneyland. Once you walk past the mansion gates, you're sucked into the ghoulish world and that's one of the best parts about the ride. Though the wait is usually long, the opportunity to enjoy the outside props and decorations make it such a worth it wait. It's funny how this ride is one of my most favorites now but I could never go on it as a kid because I was terrified of ghosts and general spooky things. My 1,000th REVIEW!!!! Love the relaxing doom buggy dark ride. The theme is always consistent and captivating, especially with the ghostly hallway mirror creating the illusion of a long hallway and the dining room view you see from below. They always dress it up during Halloween with The Nightmare Before Christmas film theme. I love that this ride is included in the Lightning Lane Multi Pass. Minus 1 star because the building ceiling part was distracting when going through the graveyard part, they should have covered it in a black sheet the ceiling because it kind of kills the outdoor graveyard illusion vibe lol. read more

Queue: The line for this ride moves fast but can be long. About 2 years ago the queue space was redone to include new great photo opportunities while you wait. The ride is continuous feed dark ride but groups must take the haunted elevator room down to enter. Overall this is one of the best queues in the park with a ton of fun themed items throughout the wait. Attraction: This is a classic of a classic Disneyland ride that just binds you to the New Orleans Square portion of the park. It is a dark ride that takes you through a mansion populated by 999 ghosts via your Doom-Buggy. I love this ride and I love this experience. From Halloween season to just past Christmas season you get to experience the "Nightmare Before Christmas" overlay as it takes over the mansion to have added holiday joy throughout the ride as the characters that are normally there are integrated or replaced with The Nightmare Before Christmas characters. Scary Teddy shows up all throughout your Doom buggy journey and locks in the story and experience. It is a great ride to enjoy any time of the year. read more

Y'all, I've been Yelping hard for 16 years and legit, 4000 reviews feels good to me and I wanted to write this significant review for me for a significant place for me in my life, a spoOoOoooOky spot! Not only do I love Haunted Mansion so much and it brings nostalgia for days, but also, it's usually the most convenient and easiest to secure with Genie Passes, Fast Passes, whatever iteration or name they are giving to their skip the line passes for the year, that will undoubtedly change the name again next year. Disney cannot get together their Front of the Line passes - that's for sure. But I digress... Haunted Mansion is amazing! On my 1st birthday, I rode Haunted Mansion for the first time and was forever traumatized by not having my Mom & Dad next to me, but rather a ghostly creature. They thought it was so funny, they induced the same ghostly trauma onto me for my 4th birthday, laughing all along the way & recounting the story for years to come. With my Disney-obsessed parents both now part of the 999 happy haunts, the Haunted Mansion was one of the very few things my parents & I enjoyed together so that's saying something. It's for everyone! hahah After entering the Haunted Mansion, then passing through the Stretching Room & witnessing a hanging suicide, the queue can get a bit hectic sometimes. It doesn't line up well but everyone gets where they are going eventually. As you relax in a Doom Buggy, you are taken through halls of haunted hosts in various scenes. The ballroom scene will forever by my favorite and it passes so quickly! My best friend has been riding the Haunted Mansion for 25 years now regularly with me, and on the last go around we got stuck at the Medium/Fortune Teller scene. I turned to him and pop Disney quizzed him on her name and he did not know. YOU GUYS, MADAME LEOTA IS AN EPIC LEGEND! Any Disney fan should know and worship her. Do better. hahaha I kid but I do love Madame Leota, Little Leota, the Hitchhiking Ghosts, the Bride/Constance and all the Haunted Mansion specific Disney characters. The ride is 8 minutes in this Disneyland version but I've never been on it when it didn't stop for at least a little bit. The Haunted Mansion is one of those rides/ attractions where I have grown to appreciate more as I've gotten older. I've grown to appreciate that this attraction is just a classic at Disneyland and all the details that have gone into making this an enjoyable experience. Over the years, I've been able to visit this ride under normal circumstances or when they jazz it up for Christmas/Halloween with all the fantastic Nightmare Before Christmas decor. I also appreciate the new store that the have near the exit of the ride now. My buddy also got me a tiki mug of the Hatbox Ghost character from Trader Sam's. Every time I got on this ride after getting that mug, I see the character and it makes me smile. Also, not too scary for the young ones. I went on this ride in late 2024 with my 5 and 7 year old nieces and they love it. read more

As a teenager, this was my favorite ride! Because this was themed Nightmare Before Christmas, it was tuned down a bit, which I wish was more scary. I think Halloween should be scary and Christmas should be cheerful. I was split in my feelings about the ride and sometimes you really want to be scared on a ride, which did not happen with the special effects and the Theme of the ride. The Haunted Mansion is hands-down one of the Disney rides I always try to get on. Whether it's the classic version or the seasonal Nightmare Before Christmas version, it never disappoints...except when it breaks down. The ride has its splash of spooky charm, nostalgia, and incredible attention to detail, from the Stretching Room to the iconic ballroom scene. I just love slowly gliding through the eerie scenes in your Doom Buggy, especially with that sudden blast of cool air that kicks in at just the right moments; it really adds to the spookiness. The seasonal overlay is also super fun, but just a heads-up, it typically runs from September through early January, so fans of the original version will have to wait a few months for its return. That said, there are a few downsides... it's always busy, even on slower park days. I think I've only seen the wait time drop to around 10 minutes a handful of times, but most of the time, it's packed! read more

Although there have been many updates over the years, I still love the original Haunted, the music, the ghosts, the voices, and the creepy sounds. The holiday season overlay, which includes elements from the movie Nightmare Before Christmas, is a treat. It's exclusive to Disneyland and available from September through December for Halloween and Christmas. The latest major renovation was to the queue line. Extending the footprint of the mansion's lot, including new awnings, provides plenty of fun details that expand the story of the Haunted Mansion. Waiting in line doesn't feel so worthless now. There are also a few updates in the ride itself. You'll need to ride it to experience them! Lightning Lane option passes are also available if you can't wait in long lines. Ah, The Haunted Mansion. An all time favorite of so many Disney fans including myself. You can find the mansion past The Pirates Of The Caribbean ride right next to Tiana's formerly known as Splash Mountain. It's not hard to miss. Literally a haunted mansion. The lines here can get very long but there's a reason for it. Whether it's decked out for the holidays or just the everyday haunt, it's a must visit for every time we are at Disneyland. I remember when wait times didn't take this long, so it's quite frustrating when it takes up so much of your time just to stand there. Growing up in OC, The Haunted Mansion was something I was afraid of as a child but couldn't help but ride anyways because for some odd reason, even though I feared it, I loved the ride itself. It's so nostalgic for me and I enjoy having my kids come along and seeing their reactions just like mine as a kid. They love watching ghost hunters and haunted shows, so this ride doesn't bother them at all. Even the youngest. Jump on a buggy and take a new ghouly friend home. read more

One of my favorite rides at Disneyland! It's based on the Nightmare before Christmas and it's truly a classic. There is so much to see from the "stretching" room to dancing ghosts. It's even more special during the holidays. There is currently a virtual queue for Haunted Mansion Holiday. You can request access to join the queue on the Disneyland app. There are two opportunities to join - 7:00am and 12:00pm. We missed the one at 7 but luckily was about to get into the one at 12. I recommend opening the app at least a few minutes before the time and pressing refresh as fast as you can. It's better if you have multiple people in your party because you can all try at the same time. read more

Make sure to lightning lane this ride to save you time. Especially around the holidays when it has more high foot traffic and changes to Nightmare before Christmas. A fun ride to go on at night to set the ambiance and to really enjoy the sights and eerie sounds and absorb everything. As you drag your bodies to the dead center of the room it's too late to turn back now as you start to go down down in the 6ft under elevator & immerse yourself into the story behind the Haunted Mansion. Haunted Mansion is truly one of our favorite rides at Disneyland, the so called Happiest Place on Earth. We visited on the first Friday of the New Year (January 3, 2025). Haunted Mansion still has the holiday set up which is awesome. The holiday set up will be taken down January 7th. We appreciate Tim Burton's Nightmare before Christmas story and artwork so we always look forward when we see all the cool Jack o' Lanterns along with Jack and Sally to name a few. We arrived at Disneyland's opening time at 7am. We decided to go on Haunted Mansion around 11am because we planned our day with breakfast first and other rides. We didn't have a long wait time. The wait was about 20 to 25 minutes. The day of our visit was not crowded. We really enjoyed it. We came back again the next day Saturday. The newly renovated garden and cemetery at the Haunted Mansion is spooktacular. Lol! Please take the time out to see all the new headstones. read more

Call it nostalgia or what you will, but there is a reason that this ride is still so popular to this day, even though it was opened in the 1960's. It always has room for one more ghost and nothing is more fun than a complete seasonal overhaul with the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay. It was great to see all the beloved characters from the movie come to life from beginning to end. Everything from the corridor of doors to Madame Leota has been updated from elements of Nightmare Before Christmas. The only two caveats I have for this ride are: 1) It is not communicated well that you need be in a virtual queue. I don't know how many people I passed in the park that said that they didn't realize this was the situation during the holidays. If they are in this park only for the day, they will have likely missed their opportunity to go on this ride. 2) It is basically this theme before Halloween up until after New Year's. So for patrons that enjoy the original ride, they have quite a few months to wait. read more

The spooky charm of the mansion always sends chills no matter how many times. I'm drawn to take ride. A few tweaks and changes are noticeable when you've been through many times. Due to this ride being closed majority of 2024 litcherally EVERYONE wants to go on this ride. Disney created a "virtual queue" for people to sign up for on the app to avoid waiting in long lines. For years now, I have made the journey through the Haunted Mansion in the New Orleans Square Disneyland Park....a "dark" ride and a place where your senses are challenged and perceptions are questioned. But this year...several changes were noted, ie: the Garden had additions I had not seen or noticed before. Could they have been an illusion...perhaps, but then again, once inside the "Art Gallery" are you really seeing the room getting longer (ya, no...I'm not telling). Before you get into the "buggy" that transports you though the rest of the mansion, it's graveyard and crypt...at the end of the "portrait corridor" one can not escape the gaze of the 2 "Busts"...oh what creepy fun! Beware my dear Yelp Review Readers, you'll soon be seeing lots of Ghosts, Ghouls and Skeletons on this journey...but don't worry, it's all great FUN. And who knows...you might be privy to bringing one of those Ghosts home with you! Yasss! The Haunted Mansion's Gift Shop (attached) is also new and a great place to just look around or splurge on yourself or your loved ones. I found the whole (new) Haunted Mansion attraction just as engaging as ever. This is one of Disneyland's classic attractions. The first part starts off in a room with a group of people. The room stretches vertically and the picture frames elongate with the room. The deep voice of the narrator makes it a creepy experience. The second part involves riding some "Doom Buggies" through the haunted mansion. You see ghosts and skeletons floating and dancing all over. The "Grim Grinning Ghosts" song plays in the background as you ride through the mansion. Haunted Mansion has always been a popular ride at Disneyland throughout the years. My favorite part growing up was when you look in the mirror and see a hitchhiking ghost riding with you in your vehicle. When you think about when this attraction opened (late 60's), the imagineers were ahead of their time with the special effects and the overall creativity of this ride. How is there only 619 reviews of Mansion?! I'm surprised I never wrote a review earlier but for sure I would've thought this had over 1K. Mansion is a classic Disneyland ride that everyone should have on their itinerary, especially if it's your first time visiting the park. It's so cool and unique and Gothy, but in a comical way. I love the ambiance and theming and you get to relax and sit down and take a tour of this very dim/dark, air conditioned mansion. If you need a break from being outside in the hot sun or just dealing with crowds all day/night, mansion will take you out of that and let you recharge a little. While you're in the queue just past the elevator, make sure to lookout for the brass or metal bats on the posts. I accidentally bumped my elbow on one and my friend accidentally ran into one and hit his rib really hard. It's kind of hard to see because of the crowd and you're focused on merging into one line, but look down for them because if you bump into them they will hurt. read more
