For context, this employee was a Caucasian woman with short black hair and horn-rimmed glasses. My wife felt profound humiliation and blatant bias, yet restrained herself and moved over to the cake counter. Thankfully, the male employee there handled the transaction professionally. Deliberately abandoning a paying customer at the front of the line to chat, accompanied by complete dismissiveness, is not just poor customer service--it feels discriminatory and severely damages this business's reputation in the local community.
