I love the visitor centers because they have all the brochures all the paperwork all the maps all for free and they have someone typically on duty to tell you about the state. Such is the case here at the visitor center for West Virginia. The staff was very nice the restrooms are reasonably clean. The parking lot has lots of space and there's a large picnic area outside. Inside there is a panoramic view across West Virginia and the beautiful mountains. I'm here in the early spring so the trees are still like sticks but starting to bloom and Blossom to make this the beautiful Green State that it is. The history displays inside or nice as always I find visitor centers to be very friendly.

It's kind of too painful to talk about because after time, life changes to the degree that you don't even remember yourself or what it was like, just that it was something special and now it's gone and it's too much to talk about, and there are no words to describe the emotions except at this rest area is a graveyard to memories that will never be felt the same way again. It's also a perfectly functioning and clean rest area but with no gas or restaurant or anything like that.

The center is very welcoming. Inside, the walls are filled with local sites to visit. Works by a local artisan are on display. Seating areas are available to browse through pamphlets featuring local attractions. I picked up a couple free pamphlets. The restrooms were immaculate during my visit with sheik new amenities. Outside, are walkways with plaques describing local vegetation. I saw plenty of new benches and places to sit and paths to walk your dog. The landscaping is lovely. On the west end of the rest stop, is a memorial dedicated to highway workers. A Storybook Trail is available to walk the kids through. An information sign describing the National Road, which run parallel to the interstate, stands near the memorial. There's a lot going on here. The stop is an easy on and off I-70. Parking is available for cars and trucks.

But after reading another review, I see it's a free "dump site" for RVs without a hose... so that explains the smell. Yuck.

During my visit on a Sunday morning, I thought that the building and grounds looked to be in good condition. My husband purchased gasoline at the Sunoco. We browsed the products in the 7-Eleven but did not like their snacks and beverages. The Auntie Anne's did not appear to be open, but the Burger King and Starbucks were. I used the women's restroom, and it had lots of available stalls that were fairly clean.
