Last week I picked up my three dogs from IDMD. They boarded for 8 nights. My dogs loved it there! The staff is very caring and pays attention to specific needs of each dog. My senior dog occasionally gets a Colitis flare up. During her stay, she did flare up. They gave her the prescribed medications. They also boiled chicken & rice for her everyday. This is a freaking dog factory. Very overcrowded. I boarded my dog here for five nights and I regret it. She lost over five pounds and came back in shock. She was not herself for three days. Since IDMD, I have boarded Mia at other places and she did great. If your dog enjoys other dogs, but not a freaking platoon of them, then I suggest going elsewhere. If your dog is comfortable being around a million dogs then this place will probably be great. read more

My dog, Georgia, is a slightly nervous rescue but she absolutely loves I Dig My Dog! The staff all know her by name and her tail starts wagging as soon as we pull into the parking lot. Coming here one day per week has helped Georgia come out of her shell over the last year since I rescued her. Most importantly (to me, as someone whose dog has been bitten in the past), the dogs are well supervised -- they separate the dogs into groups by size/temperament and staff members watch each group at all times, including when they're playing outside. They have a large play area, a swimming pool, shaded outdoor space, and air-conditioned indoor space. Best of all, the staff get to know each dog and really care about them. read more

Being a first time doggy owner I am wary of leaving my "lo-lo" anywhere. My first grooming with him I had a mobile groomer come. Which was a horrible experience as well. So, I did some research when it came to picking a groomer. I loved the way IDMD looked. It was bright, clean, and pretty much a doggie paradise. I brought "lo-lo" in for a basic grooming which I was told was $35. Which is a pretty good price from what I understand. I was excited to see the cage-free area and inquired about enrolling. The assessment fee was $10 (a small fee) and I was given a stack of paperwork to fill out and was given a later date to come back for the assessment. So, I dropped him off, went to work , filled out the paper work. expecting a call in a couple hours when he was finished. It was 5 hours later (work was crazy) when I called to find out if my dog was ready. "Yes! He's finished!" was the response but I could tell by the receptionists voice that he'd been done for a while. ..I pick up "lo-lo". He looks awesome! And he has this cute little "scarf" on his neck. I'm fully expecting to pay the $35 (plus a little tip). "Your total is $50." "Wha?" "Yes. $40 for the cut, plus $10 for the assessment" But guess what people, I didn't ask for the assessment, nor did I ask for a cut. I know I'm bitching about $15. But it's the principle of the matter. I hadn't even given them the paperwork yet. So if you plan on bringing your dog to IDMD, be aware of all of the "hidden fees". read more

The dogs in our family love it here. In fact, both of them love the outdoor playground and bone shaped pool sooooo much that the first few times they came home with pink, sore paws. They played so hard that they wore their paws down raw. Now they have to be regulated and put in time outs. The staff are friendly and really love the dogs and their jobs. Always a great sign. The store also has great specialty dog items -- food, beds, toys ect. They're also very accommodating when it comes to administering dog meds. read more

I recently adopted a rescue dog that is so sweet and amazing. However, I found I wasn't able to leave her alone at home without her totally freaking out and shredding her blankie. I understand her separation anxiety is not something that will be fixed overnight. While I work things out with training, I chose to take Lulu to I Dig My Dog for some daytime daycare during work hours. She loves it so much there. This dog won't even let me go to the bathroom alone at home but she gladly abandons me the minute we get in the front door. She seems so happy and I think it has only helped her recover from the shock of her shelter experience. Her whole day is playing, napping and interacting. I call it doggy resort. They do have strict rules about doing evaluations first, making sure your dog has all its shots, etc which I totally support, since in the end it keeps the dogs healthier and helps to avoid problems. They were totally up front about it with me and I didn't mind paying since I learned some new things about my dog. I'd rather only have evaluated dogs mixed in with my little 8 pound dog. I also enjoy supporting a local business rather than a big chain store. read more

OK, a real review from me on this one. I've taken my dog here for boarding a couple times, and while it is definitely not cheap, I would much rather have my dog outside all day playing with other dogs (which is what they are supposed to do, since they are pack animals, and not humans) in the fresh air under constant surveillance, than have them locked in a kennel-cough-and-flea-ridden cage, alone, all day and night. Pay for convenience, comfort, and peace of mind, I say! I pay extra for a bath each time, and my dog comes home clean, happy, and worn out -- just like picking up a kid from summer camp. The staff has always been cheerful, and they all obviously love dogs. Maybe the play area could be bigger, but whatevs. read more

How many doggy day care has a pool? I don't know any other ones. For me, this was the huge initial selling point. I have a Golden Retriever that is OBSESSED with swimming. Each day he gets to swim, which means I don't have to exercise him after my long day at work if I don't have time. You know what they say, "a tired dog is a good dog". Beyond the pool though, the staff here are great. They know all the dogs by name and really keep a close eye on your dog to make sure he is safe. How do I know this? A quick story - a week or so ago, I took my dog on an extremely grueling 10 mile long hike. He had torn a little bit of his pads as a result, but he still walks ok. Most people would not notice. When I picked him up from his first day back at daycare, the staff pointed out to me that during their "regular inspection", they had noticed his pads were torn and proceeded to treat it with Neosporin then kept him indoors most of the day. Wait, did I hear that right? They do regular inspections after play??? Wow. I'm very impressed they noticed. Needless to say, I really appreciate the attention to detail here. The prices are comparable to other daycare places. But man, give me a place with a pool and full of people who love my dog, I'm sold. read more

The only problem is my dog was there for less than 4 hours and got charged for the full day. no biggie, another problem is when I picked up my dog my dog smelled like piss. IDMD is the best! I shopped around and contacted countless daycare options in SGV. The owner and staff were very responsive and helpful when we were new to IDMD! They have been so accommodating and organized. My dog comes home happy and tired from fun play days. Every time I pick him up I always see at least a few employees out with the dogs. My doggie loves it here. The staff is caring, knowledgeable, and they really take the time to work with your dog. Sophia was adopted as a rescue, and terrified of other dogs at first. Spending a full day of daycare and overnights about once a week, within a matter of weeks the staff says she's like a completely different doggie. She's always loved people, but it's taken some getting used to for her to be around other dogs. Now- she loves being there as much as she loves being with me (maybe more! :). She's learned how to play with dogs because of the I Dig My Dog staff and leadership, and the quality of her dog life has increased exponentially because of this. Also, the staff is so kind and understanding when I have to stay late at work at the last minute, or am stuck in traffic downtown and can't make it in time to pick her up. They make room for her to stay overnight whenever they can, and even provide house food when I haven't brought enough for an overnight. Sophia also has skin allergies and gets car sick, but I Dig my Dog has always been diligent about giving meds exactly as directed. The food and treats they stock are part of a healthy dog lifestyle- I never knew what the differences were in dog foods, but now I wouldn't go back to anything less. Lundy took the time to walk me through all of the food, and even provided free samples to do a doggie taste test. Now Sophia has healthy food and treats that she loves! Plus, many of the items stocked are made in the USA or Canada- which is in line with my economic beliefs. I love my dog with all my heart, and I feel completely confident leaving her at I Dig My Dog. They know her name, they love her too, and now she has two homes :) Worth every bit of money I've spent there, x10! Even if you don't *need* doggie daycare, socializing your dog in a supervised environment of professionals, like at IDMD, should be a part of every doggie's fulfilling dog life. I have been taking my dog here twice a week for around a year. Unlike the PetSmart boarding facility, where he acts as if I am dropping him off at the vet, my dog gets very excited when I drop him off at I Dig My Dog. He runs away from me and he can't wait to get in. He is exhausted and happy when I pick him up in the afternoon. They are great people and treat my dog and myself very well. It's a clean place .. there's no smell I have ever noticed. Yes, there is an initial $10 assessment fee, so if you're going there once for a grooming I suppose you will be surprised by that fee. But since I take my dog for day boarding, the fee was something I paid once a year ago and is long forgotten. If you live in Pasadena, I can't think of a better place to leave your dog for the day. read more

I Dig My Dog is the best doggie day care I have ever taken my dogs to. Every day my dogs are delighted to go in and tired and happy to come home. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and, most of all, they love the dogs. I've boarded my dogs there with great results. I've also gotten training from Lundy, who is hands down the best trainer I have ever worked with - and I've had dogs all my life. She just has an innate sense on how to treat each dog and help you to be a better dog owner. When I recently had an issue with one of my dogs, she gave freely of her time and knowledge to coach me through the crisis. We love this place! Catie has been going since she was a pup and had all her shots and she loves it too! Everyone knows a puppy is super charged and I Dig My Dog has been a life saver. Catie goes every day for at least a half day and she always comes home happy and exhausted. The staff is super great! Just check out all the pictures on their website. A couple of times Catie was a little under the weather and stayed home. They called to find out how she was doing. We've boarded her for one night and that went well, too! I've read some of the other reviews and I noted that people didn't like the smell. It doesn't smell great, but they take care of lots of dogs and keep it super clean, so I don't mind the smell. Someone else mentioned they boarded their dog (a 1-star client), and she said she wasn't able to see where her dog would be sleeping. I'm sure the staff would have shown her if she had asked to see. I know when I first checked out the place, they offered to show me where the sleeping areas are. I'm officially poo-pooing the 1-star rating from Natalie K. Catie told me she particularly likes the bone shaped swimming pool and all the areas she can run and play. I love this place, I love the staff, and I highly recommend. read more

Lundy is wonderful. I read many dog training books before getting a puppy but still found myself in way over my head when our boisterous little Aussie pup actually arrived. Lundy responded promptly to my SOS email. She came over (safely, distanced with masks, out in our yard) and taught us how to teach our puppy basic commands and taught us how to manage his energy level when he goes off the rails. We were shocked at how much he learned--and how much he loves to learn! She also gives us tips and advice for his unique behavioral quirks that have helped us a ton. She is truly an expert in her field, and she goes above and beyond for her clients. Her love for dogs is palpable, and our puppy adores her right back! When he is old enough, we will definitely be using I Dig My Dog for daycare and boarding as needed, as we trust Lundy 100%. read more

They do a good job taking care of our dog. The staff seems like they care about their work. Our dog loves the place. Only complaint is lack of after hours pick up. I get the timeframes at the start for new costumers, but after a certain amount of time or track record (especially when the credit card is on file), they might consider finding a way to allow for anytime pick up. The only reason I might switch dog care providers is if another place offered the service. I would be happy to pay a small fee for such a convenience. Nothing worse than returning to town Sunday evening and not being able to get the dog until Monday. read more

the staff is friendly and helpful. and they love my dog. :) everytime i come to pick up or drop off my dog, i see somebody outside in the runs with the dogs. they are a bit expensive, but i think the attention they pay to the dogs is worth it. when my dog comes home, she's lost a little weight, but i think it's because she's running around all day and not sleeping. not because they've done anything wrong to her. she likes to spend time with the other dogs, and she actually acts like a dog (for a week) when she gets home. they do give the dogs medication if they require it. if your dog is on any meds they'll give them when needed at not extra cost. they do require that the dogs be vaccinated, and they check their records when you call for a reservation and when you drop off. makes sure you're up to date, or they'll deny you or offer to take your dog for you to the vet down the block. i've always had good experieces here. and my dog hasn't told me otherwise, so we'll keep taking her back. read more

I love "I Dig My Dog'" because they love my dog so much. I feel comfortable leaving him there. They know him by name and he recognizes them. He jumps out of the car every time I take him there and dashes to the door. The pet food and toys I have bought there are quality and they always take the time to answer my doggie related questions. I also have boarded with them. Honestly, I don't think he misses me -- which makes me sad, but I'd rather have him not miss me than be miserable in a small cage. Finally, I also did training there. They were really patient with all the dogs and the small classes made it fun and exciting for me and for my doggie. All around, I love this place. If I could, I'd want to work here. We boarded one of our dogs here during the '11 X-Mas holiday weekend. They were well versed in dog psychology and the pack dynamics, if that's what it's called. There seemed to be four caretakers for the forty some dogs (an estimate) that were playing, running, sunning and swimming. We will absolutely use them again for extended stay coverage and even for an afternoon so that Vashj can get out and play a bit. While she was a bit skittish about her first afternoon there, she really took to her weekend and made it clear that she wanted to go back. read more

I am so grateful for I Dig My Dog! Being able to take my energetic rescue youngin' here for boarding & day care has really taken the stress out of weekends away, moves and busy days. Despite her having to often go on 'time out' for bothering the other dogs, she still drags me in every time. My dog also tends to play very hard and scuff her paws but the staff is always attentive of this and gives me a heads up at pick up. Once I even called after a boarding session and Kendra gave me suggestions on how to cure the redness on my dog's foot pads. Yes, their daycare rates are more expensive than other places. However they do not have weight restrictions and a full day is actually a great value! read more

A friend did recommend this place for my dog and I only have good things to say about day care and boarding. Staff is nice and helpful, process is super easy. I must say that having Lundy come at home for a 90mn training session has been a game changer for me and my dog. She has given me clear explanations and methods to communicate effectively with him. We did several exercises in which she showed first and I could experience it just after. I had already followed a 6 week group training elsewhere which had implemented the basics but this session allowed us to move steps further. I was a little reluctant to use the clicker but Lundy has shown me its interest. I've already seen the value in a very short timeframe. I recommend highly! read more

I can really only refer Rene for nail cutting. The other person who was doing it before was OK...but when Rene started taking my dog, I noticed that he really took a good few minutes to trim her nails and he would get them short. I don't know if they had a change of groomers but there was a period of time where they were taking my dog in and literally would have her back out in 2 minutes. My dog didn't even look like her nails were getting cut. Bottom line, ask for Rene. He's great! read more

I fell in love with I Dig My Dog after randomly stopping in and getting some wonderful and helpful advice from Lundy (the president and, I'm guessing, owner). If you stop in and she's there - she's a wealth of helpful information and an absolute gem. I went back on a different day to make a purchase and the two girls at the front desk were (seemingly) half asleep (it was early in the morning, I get it!) - but I would not have had the same affinity for the place, had I not interacted with Lundy previously. This will be my go-to pet supply store. I knew the place existed from other dog-owner friends - but had no idea it was at that location. There's no real signage on the building that I've ever noticed, but I'm glad it's where it's at! Free street parking or in the lot, just to the east of the building. read more

After I got a new 10 week old puppy, I realized she needed a place to run around and drain her energy. I remembered I Dig My Dog when I took 6 of my dogs to doggie camp years ago when I was having the roof replaced on my house. They had spent 3 days there while I was at work. They had the best time and came home exhausted. They also gave me a break in price since I brought in 6 dogs. So, now I have a new 10 week old puppy with too much energy for my older dogs. I was looking for a place where she can run and play. Remembering what fun my other dogs had at I Dig My Dog, I called and scheduled an evaluation the next day. Took her in and she passed with flying colors. She has been going there almost everyday since and loves it! The Staff is great!!! They welcome her in each morning and are sad to see her leave. She is put in the small dog yard and they give her a timeout during the day, to take a nap. The Staff is also kind enough to feed her a meal while she is there during the day. I take my dog to I dig My Dog for all of his grooming and dog sitting and wouldn't go anywhere else. My dog is a golden doodle, so a good groomer is important otherwise he looses all of his cuteness! I've used different groomers and each has done an excellent job. I have never left disappointed with my dog's cut as I have from other large store/grooming businesses that shall remain nameless. When I drop my dog off the groomers always meet me and ask exactly what I want. I don't usually have a lot of instructions except to say, "please don't make him ugly!" and they deliver every time. Everyone I've met at the front desk is really nice. I gave them my information the first time, including credit card, so all I do now is drop off and pick up and they take care of charging my card. There is a parking lot, so dropping off and picking up is quite easy. They require proof of current vaccination and ensure it is up to date each time I drop my dog off. I appreciate this as I want to ensure the dogs my dog is playing with are all up to date on their shots. The areas for the dogs (small and large breeds are separated) are visible from the parking lot. There are always multiple employees monitoring the dogs and cleaning the areas. There is a pool for the dogs and watching some of them "dive" and play in it is very cool. read more

Caring people, great facility. We have been bringing our dog here since moving to Pasadena in 2007. He didn't seem to enjoy boarding before coming here. He jumps out of the car and runs into the building like a happy kid going to a sleepover at a friend's house. I highly recommend taking your dog here for everything you need. read more

ATTENTION: If you're a dog lover please please please do NOT bring your dog here. I made the mistake of bringing my dog here (March 17 and picked her up on the 20th) because it was the only place I found that would keep a dog over night that hadn't been neutered. BIG MISTAKE! The day I stepped foot in this facility to view the place I knew I shouldn't have left my puppy with them. As many of you know I'm sure, as soon as you step foot in this place it smells HORRIBLE. I've been to other doggy day cares and they do not smell like that. Another thing I really didn't like was I wasn't able to see where my dog would be sleeping.. it's like giving your dog to a stranger and hoping for them to take care of your dog.. (how do you know what happens behind closed doors???) I left my dog here for 3 nights and when I came back to pick my dog up and brought her home NO ONE informed me that she was in heat!!! She had stopped eating out of her food bowl which was NEVER a problem with my dog (she is a French bulldog and use to eat everything in her sight) but now she only eats out of our hands.. And not to mention I had to take her to the vet a couple days later because I noticed my dog was chewing on her paw, come to find out SHE HAS A BACTERIAL INFECTION IN HER PAW!!! This place is awful and I beg everyone to do more research before bringing your dogs here. I've spoke to multiple people after bringing my dog here and they ALL told me I made the biggest mistake bringing her here. PLEASE save your dogs and save your money. I want to have Guly recommend I Dig My Dog and in particular its owner LUNDY. I spent 90 minutes with her and my people reactive, anxious, protective 3 year old rescue dog. I Dig My Dog is terrific for taking care of my golden Buddy for my day care needs. They are excellent at evaluating dogs and the appropriate level of group they should be in, ie, large dogs vs. small. And the overall care is attentive and appropriate. A perfect example of how good they are: yesterday I took my dog to a local groomer after "thinking" I had dropped him off at IDMD. After calling in and freaking out because they had no record of him I finally realized in my rush I had called the wrong place. I'm delighted to recommend I dig my dog for both boarding and half or full day doggie daycare. Staffer Lily did my puppy Toby's evaluation and a fifteen minute socialization test without me nearby to gauge his reaction and readiness for playing with the regular daycare group. She was gracious, cheerful and compassionate as well as having a good sense of humor. I was also pleased to find a good selection of toys, leashes and harnesses, and dog food - making it convenient to get necessities as well as services. read more

I will continue to post this as long as long as I live and breathe. 1 star is actually too high a review. My dog died while getting his nails trimmed here back in 2010. I have tried to forget about it, but I'm reminded of it every time I drive by there on my way to Foothill Veterinary Hospital. I do not fault the staff or otherwise blame them for his death. However, I will never forget how cold and callous the owner was when I contacted her (I had to make contact with her, not vice versa). I still don't know exactly what happened, but I know the owner's version seemed to change each time I spoke with her. Regardless of whatever rebuttal IDMD provides for this review, the fact of the matter is MY DOG DIED WHILE UNDER THEIR CARE, and the owner seemed to be more concerned about her liability than about showing any compassion. read more

We made an appointment and paid a deposit for Thanksgiving weekend. When we went to drop off the dog, he coughed a few times on the way in, as we had to restrain him from the other dogs. The attendant at the front desk heard the coughing and wouldn't accept him because she feared he had kennel cough. It was clear that the coughing was due to being pulled on the leash, but the attendant refused to reason with us, and wouldn't accept the dog without having him cleared with a vet first. This despite the dog coming in for a pre-screening a week before where he was required to get the necessary vaccinations, including one for kennel cough. On the night before Thanksgiving, we were forced to rush the dog to an animal hospital to be checked out, as the vet wasn't available. There was, of course, no sign of kennel cough, and we ended up spending about $75 - and wasting everyone's time - for what was an unnecessary visit. We understand the need to protect the other dogs, but it was clear his coughing wasn't due to any illness. It caused a huge inconvenience, as we not only had to waste time and money, but we were nearly left without a place to leave the dog while we were away. Once he was cleared, they accepted the dog. When we went to pick up the dog after his stay, the staff was unfriendly and didn't tell us anything about how the dog's stay was. We have no idea if he ate his food, got along well with the other dogs, swam in the pool, or was given his medication. They also forgot to give us the medicine when we picked him up. This place gets an F for customer service. We'll definitely be going somewhere else next time. read more
