My dog has come a long way since we started training with Lily. I adopted him at 1.5 yrs old after he was found as a stray, and I soon discovered that he had no manners on walks. I was originally going to write this a little after working some more with Lily, but I saw Good Dog Spot's last review was awhile ago and thought "why not give a little boost now to someone who has been nothing but kind, extremely thorough and helpful, and has gone out of her way to meet our needs?" If you're a dog parent whose pup is your child, and you care deeply about their emotional wellbeing, Lily's the trainer you want to phone. I have had two private sessions with Lily for my crazy husky mix puppy, and rather than instantly try to correct or suppress Tilly's "naughty" behaviour, Lily took the time to understand the root cause and showed me that Tilly was dealing with anxiety and adolescent hormones. We have tried other more conventional (corrective) methods, and Tilly seemed to get more frustrated and more reactive with those. This is the first time I've worked with a trainer who honoured animals and their inner world on such a profound level, while still being knowledgeable and practical enough to teach Tilly the alternative behaviours I was looking for in the first place. Never once was Tilly's autonomy restricted, there was no force or admonishing whatsoever--and yet, Tilly was obedient and even happy to comply. It was like once we understood her better, we broke ground. I was shocked in the best way. We still have a long way to go and I'll update this review in the future when the Tilligator (she's a mouthy one) makes more progress, but I am excited for what the future holds for us. This review is for dog training :) We recently adopted a 3 y/o pit and shepherd mix and wanted to do our best to get her trained with basic manners, loose leash walking, etc, AND we were looking for positive reinforcement training (no prong or e collars). I am SO glad we found Lily. She came to our home and trained our pup and us. She gives us real time feedback (even if we send her videos of us training when she's not there), models the training with high value treats, emails suggestions, and is super easy to book and contact online. Additionally, our dog Violet absolutely adores her. We had a bad experience a few days ago with adopting an aggressive dog that we had to return =( We wanted to do it right the second time so I contacted Lily. Initially I wanted to adopt a dog, and then have Lily come out on the day of adoption to help guide us, but she suggested we have her out BEFORE the adoption. Omg duh!!! That makes so much more sense! She came out the next day and we met for 90 minutes and she answered all of our questions, helped guide us as to what to do and what NOT to do, she emailed me a ton of resources and she even looked through a rescue and picked a few dogs she thought would be good for us. Training my sweet but reactive boy Oakley with Quinn has made such a difference! The group classes immensely increased his confidence, we discovered he's a natural for nose work and our bond increased a ton. His leash reactivity on walks has decreased significantly. Now we are doing private in home sessions to work on stranger danger around the home, and next we will start training my new puppy who will become my service dog. Quinn always sees you as an individual and not cookie-cutter size. She knows a ton about dog training, including service dogs, and happily shares resources. When I first started using My Dog Spot almost 3 years ago Royce was so afraid of strangers that you couldn't get near him. Lily came for the initial consult and quickly realized that Royce had serious trust issues. She came every day and worked with him just to get the harness on, and he and my little leash aggressive dynamo started walking. Lily must have walked my dogs for 2 or 3 months to build up trust. Royce is so much better, he's almost a different dog around strangers. She is still very careful when making new introductions, and the current walker and the new walker come together for a couple of days to get Royce adjusted. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. I recently used My Dog Spot for an 8-day overnight petsitting. One of my biggest issues with hiring a petsitter is that I have worked with animals professionally for almost 20 years and know too much, so I'm very picky. I decided to try My Dog Spot for this trip after meeting Lily and getting to know her, and being impressed with the way she runs her business. Over the past 9 years, my husband and I have used several different companies (and friends) for petsitting, constantly searching for the right person but never really finding him/her. I have had some acceptable experiences and some really bad experiences, some of the worst being coming back to a yard full of dog poop that clearly hadn't been picked up all week, and on another occasion finding empty water bowls... two of the most basic things a petsitter should be doing. But not this time. This was a completely different experience. Not only did Jen follow my recommendations flawlessly, she also sent pictures and videos throughout the trip so I could see how the dogs were doing... and it never felt like too much. She kept in communication with me and left me a final message that summed up everything she had done and where she had left things. She even let me know she had brought in the trash cans, which she didn't need to do but it was a pleasant surprise. My favorite thing, though, was when I greeted my male dog. He typically has a constant supply of eye boogers that I pick out once or twice a day. I greeted him and immediately went for the boogers, but they weren't there! That is something that a person only notices (and takes care of) when she spends time with the dog and notices things. And this is what you want in a petsitter in case your animals have a problem... problems can often be subtle, and catching them right away can prevent bigger issues. I have never come home after a trip before to find things as they would have been if I had been there the whole time. Well done, Jen and Lily! read more

This is the best dog walking service my husband and I have ever tried. Lily and Brianna are great communicators -- one of the things we appreciate the most about them. We also appreciate their toughtfulness about our dogs -- a German Shepherd and Retriever. I can't praise My Dog Spot enough. Lily and Quinn were fantastic. We attended the 6 week course for Basic Manners. This group class was exactly what we needed. Our almost 2 year old American Bully knows a lot of basic cues but has a hard time performing them with distractions. In the first class, we had an orientation which really helped us prepare and eased some of my own anxieties. The second class we brought our dogs. Bumi was pretty nervous/anxious - which we did not anticipate, but Lily and Quinn were really understanding and kind. They gave us tips and worked with us to make Bumi more comfortable each class. Every week he got better and better. It was amazing to see his progress. In the home and on walks, Bumi seems more confident and it has grown our relationship with him. Just make sure you have surveillance cameras installed to verify that someone will be staying overnight. For Lily to say that the urine & feces were caused by our puppy is laughable. Our 12-year-old Labrador had to relieve himself in the house because they were left alone overnight and into the next day. My Dog Spot is the best. Lily is caring, knowledgeable, and always professional. She has walked my two girls for a couple of years now. She takes such good care of my senior girl, who is fourteen. My little one is always in turbo speed and Lily has found a way to walk both girls at the same time while seeing that each of their needs are met. I never worry about my dogs when I'm at work, because I know that Lily will be there for them. She uses a great app that let's you see where they have walked and for how long. It's cool and reassuring. I have also boarded my girls with Lily and was able to enjoy my vacation without a worry. She knows so much about dogs and my two girls just love her. Lily is absolutely the best!! I met her when she worked at another company and came in for walks for our very old dog who has since gone to doggy heaven. We adopted a Golden-Irish last summer. She is now 8 months old. We've used Good Dog Spot for a few functions already. First, the 6-week private puppy training package. Then the 6-week puppy basic-manners class at the facility. And currently in our second round of puppy daycare/socialization, also at the facility. We've even had an initial swimming lesson in their amazing above-ground pool. Quinn has been great because she uses positive, reinforcement-based strategies and follows the dog's lead. She's taught us a wealth of knowledge about how/when to use treats, how to re-direct, and when to use planned ignoring. She's provided tips on what equipment to use including puzzles and harnesses. Both her and the owner, Lily, are good listeners and have great intuition on doggie behavior. We've never felt judged or criticized by our lack of knowledge, only encouraged and supported. I particularly enjoy Quinn's sense of humor and the way she talks with our pup. I also appreciate their patience with my questions and anxieties about my girl joining the puppy camp, as she is not yet fixed. Both Quinn and Lily have reassured me and taken steps to include my pup while looking out for her best interest. They seem to know how important my dog is to me, as they make sure to group her with other dogs that are a good match and send me pictures/updates throughout the day when she's at camp. They have a great facility with multiple yard and indoor environments that are kept clean and fun for the dogs. i wrote a review of the horrible experience i had with my dog spot. lily, the owner, wrote a negative and mostly hostile rebuke to my review. the reality is that i paid them between $5,000 and $6,000, which they charged directly to my credit card. i never received any bill or accounting of these charges. i also had no knowledge or experience of any training they provided to woofy. i never saw or met lily. kathy, the primary walker, just picked up woofy and took her for a walk. she never spoke or wrote to me about any training or the progress of the training. she would sometimes write me emails about what a nice walk they had, but no mention of training. woofy only weighed 19 pounds, she was not a pitbull mix of any type. whatever this purported training, it did not involve me and i could never walk woofy. i stand by my original review. my dog spot only benefited themselves. they certainly did not benefit me or my beloved woofy in any meaningful long term way besides just walking her 5 times a week for 10 months, no training provided. read more
