Forever Grateful for I Dig My Dog. When our entire family traveled to Mexico for a week-long wedding, we needed a safe and loving place for our 8.5-pound chiweenie, Bolt. It was his very first time boarding, and naturally, we were nervous. From the very beginning, Kendra P. made the process smooth and comforting. She guided us through the initial assessment and even suggested a short drop-off visit to help Bolt acclimate, such a thoughtful touch. We opted for a private suite, knowing Bolt could be sensitive. On Day 2, he wasn't adjusting well and had stopped eating. But that's when the incredible team truly showed their heart. They made him a cozy little bed in the front office, spent time with him, and surrounded him with gentle care and affection. Slowly, he started eating again, and soon he was out trotting happily on the grass patch like it was home. I've waited a while to write this review because I wanted to see if my feelings towards I Dig My Dog would subside but they haven't so here I am. They erroneously shaved my dog, ruining her beautiful coat. Basically, there were two golden retrievers named Ginger in for day care and they grabbed my dog to be shaved thinking it was the other Ginger. The groomer shaved half of her body before another staff member informed him of the mistake and they aborted the service. The staff did call to inform me of the incident and I asked them to "even it out" not knowing really what she looked like. This was not done prior to me arriving to pick her up. I took my dog immediately to our personal groomer who was aghast that (1) a "professional" groomer would shave a golden retriever and (2) that they would shave top to bottom and not side to side (as evidenced by her ugly zebra stripes) as this is apparently not the correct way to groom a dog. I was pretty upset but I understand that mistakes happen (allegedly both Gingers look identical and the only difference is the collar) and I'm truly just happy that her hair will grow back and she didn't have some type of physical incident here. I hope since this incident they've developed some sort of verification procedure to avoid this in the future. While the grooming incident was bad, what I found out about I Dig My Dog afterwards is immensely worse. I have friends in the wider dog owning community in Pasadena and I have since learned that an employee (at risk of losing their job) secretly urged some patrons to not bring their dogs back because they were being hit as a form of negative reinforcement. I will not be going into more detail for privacy reasons but please, do not bring your dog to this facility because there are some very well behaved dogs who have been hit by staff members here. There are no cameras in the building and that is for a premeditated reason. I was informed that hitting is not just the behavior of one staff member but a pervasive culture. The staff is polite at the intake but they are terse and impersonal when scheduling, calling with a question, and dropping/picking up your dog. When you ask a question, you are met with "what?" or a blank stare and unfortunately, this occurred with every staff member I interacted with - even ones who I thought were nice and competent. I think one time they told me that my dog had fun and went swimming, every other time I felt like I was bothering them by being in the room. Things could improve if they (i) stop hitting dogs, (ii) develop a validation system to ensure the correct dogs are receiving the correct services, (iii) invest in online booking management, and finally (iv) place cameras in the facility for an added layer of accountability. I am ashamed that I ever entrusted my dog in their care and I am a very vocal advocate against any dog coming here. Please look into Dogtopia or highly reviewed and booked people on Rover, I would never recommend bringing your loved one here. read more

I have used her boarding services and training services for years and they have always been great. I recently started fostering a new dog who had a really rough past and is very fearful. I wanted to make sure I was doing my best for this dog and I called Lundy for some help. She called me back immediately and squeezed out time from her busy weekend (people dropping off pups for boarding before the holidays) to help me with some training for this dog. This place is HORRIBLE!!!! Where do i start? -when i dropped my dogs off they didn't even bother to write down feeding instructions, she said she would "remember it" -when i called to check on them I was put on hold for a long time, and then they came back and said the dogs were "fine". I doubt they even checked. -i think the most astonishing thing of all is that none of them (the rude staff members at the desk and the people i spoke with when I called) even seem to like dogs! They bring them out with NO emotion at all and when I asked how they did she said "there were no notes of behavioral issues". In summary, there has to be a better option. My dog, Mr. C, adores IDMD. Every Thursday morning he excitedly lets me know that it's daycare day. As we get out of the car, he is happily greeted by name and pulls me like a rocket to the lobby, where he huffs and bounces with excitement until he gets to go play with all his human and canine friends. I find the staff to be caring, kind, and helpful - my (let's say "picky") dog is my litmus test - his joy to be there and his happy exhaustion at the end of the day are testament to the great team behind the counter and with the dogs. The place is clean and friendly. We always feel safe boarding here - even when Mr. C got snapped at (he stepped on a sleeping dog, I guess he never heard the adage), the IDMD team took charge and got him to the vet to get the nip checked out - keeping us updated so we didn't have to worry while overseas. He was just fine. I like that the team keeps everyone up on vaccines, and I am so grateful that Mr. C has a carefully-monitored daycare setting where he can chill with other doggos. We buy a year in advance to take advantage of the multi-visit discount, and we have a standing reservation, which helps in such a popular place. Our dog may loose his vision after boarding here for 4 days. I would caution anyone from leaving their dogs here. We were alerted to a 'minor' eye infection the morning when we picked him up and told we should not worry - 'it's normal,' "it happens all the time." We were told not to seek medical care as it would likely clear up on its own in a few days. When we picked him up it was clear the infection was bad as his eye was weeping, swollen, and he couldn't keep it open. We immediately brought him to our vet, who advised we should immediately take him to an ophthalmologist due to the severity of the infection. The ophthalmologist informed us of an interior eye infection which had likely festered for days. (To add to this they informed us that he had lost nearly 20% of his body weight and had several scratches not requiring medical care on his body - all of which occurred during his 4 day stay). The medical bills will be well over $1000. He is receiving medication and will be in a cone for weeks. There is a possibility of blindness based on progression. He may have required surgery to extract his eye if we listened to them and didn't bring him to the vet immediately -- they are not veterinarians and should not be advising or assuming they can diagnose/ treat. They should have informed us immediately and took him to the hospital. He has boarded many times (not here) and always done well. To make things worse, the owner (Lundy) called us while we were on the way to the specialist to "educate" us on how the infection was no big deal and didn't require medical care. She was rude, and never once asked how he's doing or if he was ok. I tried to get a hold of her subsequently for 5 days after pickup to inform her of our dogs condition and when I finally got a hold of her she again displayed no concern, was rude and aggressive. Maybe they're taking too many dogs, or just don't care... DON'T LEAVE YOUR DOG HERE! I wish I had known... read more

We have been bringing our dogs to IDMD for years - for day care and for boarding. They have always been so wonderful. As one of our dogs aged and became infirm, they put him in with the small dogs during the day, which he loved. They put him in with just his sister at night. They gave him his meds and took wonderful care of him. He started visiting when he was a pup, so the saw him through his whole life. He loved it there. We brought our new pup the other day and he is a scaredy dog, so they worked with him and only kept him for a short time. He will slowly acclimate because of the love and care of the staff. Carmichael and Kennedy just love coming to daycare and when they are at I Love My Dog, I know they are safe and having fun. They even have a little window where you can watch your pups frolic, and you can take them lunch. After COVID, the staff plays it safe very well and sanitize everything. They provide a leash for your dogs to avoid germ spreading. One time one of my dogs got into a little quarrel with a husky (he's afraid of them for some reason). I Dig My Dog called you let me know he was in time out. I appreciated that they corrected his behavior and didn't kick us out. The staff is super friendly, and you can buy packages for the dogs to make sure your needs are met. You can tell they really love their jobs and taking care of dogs. Definitely recommend. read more

During both the kennel cough outbreak in LA county and the subsequent dog flu scare, they chose to close, clean, and require all dogs to be vaccinated before returning. I've heard some negative reviews about this establishment in the past, but honestly, we've been using IDMG for almost a year now and have never had any major problems. The one and only drawback is that my dog seems to come home from here crazy-dirty on many occasions. I just look at him and say: "uh...you been workin' in the mines all day again?" It could just be that he's all white and likes romping around in all the worst areas. Otherwise, I've observed time and time again my dog get SO excited to walk in the front door --particularly if he is greeted by a few specific staff members. He wags his tail a certain way that is usually only reserved for me and the hubby!! (and this is nice to see)... He's very comfortable there obviously (which is important to me), has many regular canine friends and comes home totally exhausted. I Dig My Dog has a package deal for daycare as well--so it's more affordable. They are also very conveniently located for us AND carry all the high-quality foods and treats we give our pup. I used I Dig My Dog to board my puppy while I went away for a few nights. I had read the reviews including some of the bad reviews, but compared to some other places I looked up on Yelp, this seemed to be the place I wanted to try. The only negative thing I could say about this place from my own personal experience is that the staff is not very friendly. When I walk through the doors I feel like they are staring blankly at me and they have flat affects and they don't really smile at you. Even so they know what they are doing and they are very fast. They also use walkie talkies to communicate with each other, so any staff member anywhere on the premises is able to call for anything needed. There is a faint dog scent in the lobby, but what do you expect from a place filled with doggies! I like how there are varying areas for the dogs to play and they are gated off. Each dog is evaluated and placed with a group they are most likely to get along with. Then each group rotates the gated areas to get a chance to hang out or to play in all the areas. I like how in each area there is a staff person standing watching each dog, and using a hose to rinse away immediately any waste material that pops up. Some people had complained their dogs had lost weight staying here. From what the staff member doing my puppy's eval said, sometimes the dogs get so excited or they run around more than they would at home so they could potentially lose some weight. They said if this happens they might try to contact you to ask if they could give extra treats or extra food during their stay. My puppy didn't lose any weight while I was gone. In addition, she got plenty of needed exercise, so upon our return home, she was very tired and went to sleep for a little while giving me time to unpack and get situated. It was even cute getting a little report card at the end of her stay because I had worried about how she would assimilate with the other dogs having never been left for such a long period of time before and having not been socialized yet with other dogs. Our dog loves it here! They have a swimming pool that the dogs are allowed to play in almost daily, so if your dog needs lots of physical play and loves the water you can't go wrong with this place. My dog always comes home absolutely exhausted and behaves like an angel the next day. My dog once got sick at daycare and they were unable to get in touch with me. Without even speaking to me they took him to the vet for a checkup just be sure he was ok and didn't charge me for the visit. If you're looking for regular daycare, I highly recommend going for a larger package. If you're willing to purchase 50 days up front, the cost is less than $20 per day (that's less than $2 hour when we send him all day!!) and the days never expire. read more

This review is about one-on-one training. A while back, we decided we needed someone-on-one training with our fur baby because he yanks on the leash especially when there's motorcycles and large vehicles such as a UPS truck. I contacted many trainers and asked them if they had experience with working with people that have physical disabilities. I was thrilled when she said yes because I had contacted many people and only two of them told me they had experience working with people with disabilities that are in wheelchairs. I was extremely disappointed and disheartened when the training was over. She spent a good amount of time with us but during that time she repeated everything over and over and over again. She gave us a short window of time to actually practice what she said. Some of the stuff she told us was useful and we appreciated that she came to us however, the main reason she was there was to help me come up with a way to train my baby so he wouldn't yank on the leash so I wouldn't topple over in my wheelchair. She constantly said that I wouldn't be able to do it on my own and that my sister who was there would have to do the training. At one point, she even asked me what my disability was. I figured she was asking because she wanted to come up with customized ideas so I could be independent in training. I'm still perplexed as to why she asked me what my condition was if she was unwilling to customize the training. I texted her how disappointed I was and she refused to admit her mistake and just kept repeating how long she spent with us and that she didn't want talk to me via text. I wanted proof in writing and therefore I was unwilling to talk to her over the phone. read more

I have used the doggy daycare a few times with I Dig My Dog and have always had a good experience. On our first visit and the temperament test, Lilly took the time to explain how she conducted the test and how our dog did. I really appreciate how she is familiar with our dog's breed and how to work with him productively. I have used other doggy daycare places in Pasadena where because they don't know how to work with cattle dogs, they end up putting him in the kennel for an hour-long time out. I Dig My Dog does have to sometimes give dogs a time out but it's not in an isolated kennel and for a whole hour, it is just a separate space to give the pup time to calm down. I dig my dog too. And that's why I bring her to daycare or as I like to call it, puppy camp! On an endless search for a suitable daycare, I scoured nearly every daycare from Pasadena to West Covina. I wasn't really happy with the daycares I was finding until I came across I dig my dog. Many of the others didn't seem like they were clean enough, staff was attentive enough, or the dogs were actually playing and not just sitting in a cage all day. I had brought my oldest dog here several years ago a few times but forgot about it until I was looking for a daycare again. My dog Penny really loves it here and is always really excited when we pull up into the parking lot. Best of all she is gets all her energy out playing with all the other dogs here. All the staff are very friendly and they seem to have an endless amount of regular customers who come in daily. read more

Please do not let the bone-shaped pool and friendly facade fool you. I took my dog to I Dig My Dog after hearing good things about them from some people at the dog park. The first couple of times I took my dog there for day boarding, he came back tired and his paws seemed a bit sore but otherwise seemed OK. I took my dog back there a third time and mentioned to the staff to please keep an eye on my dog as his paws are sensitive and he may need to be given a break from all the playing and running. They said it was no problem and they would take care of him. When I came to pick my dog up, he was standing at the fence holding up one of his paws. I ran inside and asked why my dog was left outside when he was obviously limping and injured. The attendants had not noticed his injury and had done nothing about it. I had the attendants examine his blistered and raw feet before we left and they said he would be fine he must have just "played too hard". I took my dog to the vet immediately who wrote me a letter to submit to I Dig My Dog that he received his injury at their facility and that he should have been taken out of the general dog population as he was obviously injured. I contacted several people (including the owner) at I Dig My Dog regarding this situation and the owner was extremely rude. She said she was not responsible (regardless of the forewarning I gave the facility) and would not even consider helping with the vet bills- even after getting the letter from he vet. The owner could not have been more callous, mean or uncaring. My dog has since recovered but I cannot believe how my dog and I were treated. The long and short of it is that you are taking your dog to I Dig My Dog you are doing so at your own (or should I say at your dog's) risk. If anything were to happen to your dog here (illness, injury, etc.) you will not be cared for at all. For claiming to care deeply about dogs and their owners, their actions are quite contradictory. Please find another place to board your dog. Do not leave your dog in the hand of a place as uncaring as I Dig My Dog. You won't be able to find out how they'll treat you if anything goes wrong until it is too late. read more

I really want to love I Dig My Dog but I don't. My dog is an easy-going little creature who has had three visits there. The last time I took her there, a $30 visit turned into a $82.95 visit. Why? Well, let's see. I had called beforehand, identified my dog and asked if we were clear for a day of play. They said sure. I guess I was stupid to think they had checked her records because I showed up and was told her bordetella vacine had expired. The girl behind the counter said, "Oh, but we can do it for $20!" I shrugged my shoulders and said, "Okay." Well, THEY didn't give her the shot-- they walked her 30 yards up the street to Foothill Vet and I got a bill from them a few days later for an additional $25. I could have done that myself. So now I'd spent $45 that I hadn't planned on. Great. When I came to pick up my dog, I saw her in the yard with the little dogs, looking very, very bored with none of the staff members nearby. I was beginning to see that the staff spends most of their time and energy with the larger dogs. I came in to get her and she wasn't stinky or tired. We ended up taking her for a three-mile hike that night because she had way too much energy to burn. They brought my dog out to me and didn't say anything about how her day had been, just handed the leash back. As I was walking out the door, someone yelled, "Wait! You owe us $7.95!" What? Well, the tags on her collar (which I have used three other times at I Dig My Dog that I had specifically made for this purpose) weren't acceptable to them that time, so they made her new tags and charged me for it. What the heck?!? I came back and paid it but I was really, really upset. I hesitated to write this review but saw other reviews that stated similar problems. I won't be bringing her back and I am very vocal about my experience with other dog owners. I Dig My Dog needs to tighten up their business practices and treat their customers and their wallets with a lot more consideration. read more

This place is awful. Do not take your dog to this place. I took my little multipoo to this place for 10 days. When I took him he was 14 LBs and healthy, when I got him back after 10 days, he had lost 2.5 LBs and he weighed only 11.5 LBs. It is like a 180 LBs man losing 20 LBs in only 10 days. There is no supervision when comes to certain things like eating. My dog did not get any food obviously and no one cared. Right after that, his kidneys started failing and he had to go on medication. When I called, a girl told me that it's because dogs are very active here. Not true. It is a small space that all the dogs walk around and the smaller dogs don't even get to use the doggie pool (as shown in the pictures). My dog was an active dog, he used to walk 2 miles so walking around wouldn't make him lose so much weight in 10 days. He never came back to being the same dog that he was. DO NOT take your dog to this place. NEVER again Never. This place is terrible. read more
