I really love this Kickboxing Studio. They only reason I am not going here anymore TBH is because of the scheduling conflict with my work. Pros: + Staff is amazing and understanding + Great lessons + Intense work outs + Great community + Convenient location + Multiple levels for membership (ranging from 1x per week, 2x per week and unlimited) Additional Considerations: Please keep these in mind, because I think this studio may not be the best fit for everyone. - Locker rooms to change, but no showers - Each class is about 45 min (compared to some other ILK studios that do about 60 mini classes) - This studio is located inside the Rego Park Jewish Center. This means that they studio cannot be open during the Sabath (I.e. Friday evenings and all day Saturday). In addition, they also cannot hold class during the Jewish holidays. They will make you work and encourage you to push yourself further and further. I hate the gym but their classes really help me stay active and so fun. I bought a groupon for $50 and it came with 10 classes and a free pair of gloves. I was a tad bit disappointed that I didn't receive my free gloves on the first day, but they told me that I would get my gloves the next time I came in, which was true. They stuck a post it with my name on the gloves. That's great customer service right there. Also, after my first and second class I honestly expected them to ask me to sign up for one of their class packages and try to pressure me into buying a package which I'd probably regret. But I have to say, they actually told me to try it a little bit more before they talked to me about feedback and any packages. Perhaps the previous comments on yelp did pay off. For those that are scared to join a gym for that reason, just don't bring any form of payment and nobody can pressure you into buying anything no matter how enticing it may sound. The classes and instructors are fun and challenging. There seems to be one instructor and 1-2 other people that work there walk around to assist you with form and your breathing technique. After each intense workout, they make you feel welcomed by giving a fist bump. The instructor in both of my classes go around and ask everyone individually how they like the class. I'm honestly blown away from the niceness of the staff there. A+ overall. Each class starts on time and lasts for exactly 1 hour. read more

This branch is located inside a Jewish center, and they use the space to teach kids karate too. It's not located in the heart of Forest Hills (more like borderline Rego Park), but you can certainly get there by public transportation if needed! The bathroom can use some more frequent cleaning. The class schedule changes often due to special closings from the building itself so I think it is beyond their powers. They are able to keep a solid schedule for classes Monday-Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings though. What I'm judging on is the QUALITY of the classes. The staff is great. Each instructor has a different teaching style but all of their classes will MAKE YOU WORK and get you HYPED to work out! Their classes follows the typical ILKB format with a HIIT workout, cool down/stretch, 5 bag rounds, glove drills, and cool down. It has made a huge difference for me. I joined earlier this year but took a hiatus. Going back was no problem though. It's fun and a great way to relieve stress. Definitely worth the money for me! This place is located at an awful location and doesn't provide any locker or bathroom. The lack of professionalism threw me off. What disappointed me is that the lady here would rather spend 10 minutes explaining/selling package on my first class but not discussing much on the safety precautions or giving information/disclosure to "hidden rules" such as lateness policy, which is posted on Facebook only. People who are late for 6 minutes are not allowed to attend the class although the first part of class (cardio mainly) is more intensive than the later boxing part. read more

As a member since August 2019, my only and biggest regret is not joining sooner! This is located on the second floor of a Jewish community center. The space is shared and there is a martial arts school in the same space, but this won't take away from your workout. The workouts can be intense, but the staff is incredibly friendly and supportive and you will see growth with this program. You're not only gaining a great workout experience, but you're also making great friends. I chose this program over the gym because I wanted a sense of community and support, and I sure got it. It didn't take me long to cancel my gym membership and dedicate myself here. Highly recommend you come in and check it out! read more

This is a very mixed review as I love the classes and staff (5 stars for them, hands down). The studio itself needs some work, though. There are massive dust bunnies around the border of the room...I've taken the first class of the day and they're still there. People take classes in bare feet and the cleanliness of the room leaves a lot to be desired. I also got a major hard sell on membership the night of my first class. I don't like or appreciate that. Also, I don't mind that the studio is in a no-frills community center, but the actual studio needs some TLC. The only branding is a few 8x11 printouts saying "iLoveKickboxing"...it's kinda cheesy. I think it would be a nice touch if this place had a water cooler or even a water fountain, but no. The schedule isn't ideal, either...there are no Friday night or Saturday classes at all. I have to say, I've really enjoyed the classes I purchased through Groupon, but I have to think twice about purchasing a membership. $125 a month is steep, especially without a single bell or whistle. If you want a studio with a terrible schedule and that is horrible at communicating wit their consumers this is the studio for you! When I first joined as a member, they paint things so easy for, I was told I would be able to down grade my membership at any point, that unattended classes could be rolled over. However that was a lie. I had the 8 classes for 129.00 a month, In February I was told that they would accept rolling over classes but that I had to try to make the classes weekly because it is not something they normally do. I told them I travel very often and before signing up I asked this because I KNEW I would miss classes. Because I could tell it was a huge issue I asked to downgrade my membership to the 4 classes a month, I was told she would do it. I went back in March and I followed up and asked if my membership was changed. She told me actually let me check, she found out it was not and then said can you send and email, so I did on March 23, 2023. I received no response, so I followed up with another email on March 29, 2023. Once again no one responded to my email. I called on March 30, 2023 and spoke to one of the trainers I explained what has been going on, he was rude and said "only one person handles the email, so emails are not answered quickly" but he was sure to state that I had an outstanding balance that had to be paid for the month of April which was billed on March 27, 2023. I told him I know the payment did not go through because I put a stop on the payment because I knew no one had changed my membership and I was not going to pay for classes that I was not able to attend. I became frustrated and told him I would come in and handle the account. I was not able to go in, I work in Coney Island and by the time I got out of work they were closed. So I sent yet another email out on April 3, 2023, however this time I just wanted to cancel my membership. In order to cancel my membership I had to pay 99.00 and my membership would be active until April 27, 2023. It is NOT what I wanted because now they are going to have 4 classes that I will not be attending, but I am just glad I no longer have to deal with this studio. Not to mention I referred two people to this studio, one purchased the 5 class trial but did not sign p because she was only available for classes at night on the weekend & another friend that I referred and she actually signed up and I was told I would be given a free month, but that was yet again another LIE. Stay away from this place, the studio looks like a elementary school gym and parking in this area is terrible. read more

The studio is located in a gym of a Jewish elementary school and the "kickboxing studio" is nothing what you would expect. No lockers, no bathrooms, zero professionalism. I really loved the kickboxing classes, great workout, extremely fun, with blood pumping music which makes exercising super fun. Most of the class exercises focuses on cardio combinations, which really helped me lose weight without boring myself to death. The instructors really spread out and pay close attention to each student throughout the class, making sure you're using the correct form and encouraging you to class as you're breaking a sweat. Oh and you get free boxing gloves when you register. Why we stopped going? Since my friend bought me 10 classes through Groupon, they did try to push me for a membership. I understand that businesses need to survive, but they really went hard on guilt tripping us to commit outside of class. We felt quite pressured to enroll on the spot and we eventually stopped coming for the remainder 3 sessions because we felt like we were judged as freeloaders. Regardless, if you attend class you'll enjoy the workout. Its small, but honestly, you'll appreciate how much smaller classes provide higher quality. read more

This class was my introduction to the power of group workout whilst also embedding yourself with a useful muscle memory that may aid you if you ever get jumped. On a good day the workouts are amazing and you develop a sense of family with those members chugging alongside you. It feels great to come in to see smiling faces that make you look forward to working out (a tremendously difficult task). There are however quite a few cons to this place. The facility itself is marginal even with their expanded room. It is carpeted and retains a muggy smell. No matter how much spray they attempt it will not diminish it. The bags are old and you can sometimes injure yourself if you hit it in a specific spot (which they sometimes mark with an X) You always have 2 people working per bag and sometimes even 3. 2 is acceptable but 3 is most certainly not. Having 2 ppl on a bag does diminish your workout a bit and reduces the benefits that you gain if you were alone on a bag. Endurance will not improve at the rate it should since you constantly rest for your partner to go. The instructors are usually good. However they lack consistency. You can go one day and have an amazing intense workout and the next you feel like you did nothing. They vary the workouts and some are better than others. Usually corrections are not made till you have already developed a bad habit and then you have to try to break it. This is due to a lack of attention paid to each student. Students can very often be overlooked. They maintain their record keeping in the most prehistoric way. A card check. Their entire admin system needs a boost into the future. In this age things need to be alot more efficient. I could not even obtain a copy of my contract electronically after asking on numerous occasions. The staff will help when they can and they are generally ok to deal with. I have had issues where on my recommendation of the place my friend who became a member was turned away from a workout because of tardiness which was not made aware to anyone. This matter was poorly handled and made both my friend and I rethink this facility. There are many problems associated with this place but there are also many advantages. The location is prime for all the Forest Hillians. The workouts are fun and enjoyable. They cater to more advanced students and mix things up for them. The people are always friendly and you get used to a fun environment with your workout pals. If you have another location close to you check it out but if not, this place isn't half bad even with the cons. read more

This month marks my one year anniversary at this iloveKickboxing.com location. Joining was one of the best things I've ever done for myself. I love the workouts and instructors. Both keep me motivated, my mind and body is being challenged at each workout. As someone who has been active most of my life, kickboxing has changed my life and how I work out. It helped with my anxiety and depression. I love the structure and intensity of workouts, other members became great friends. Each instructor has something different to offer and I enjoy working with every single one of them. I leave each class with a big smile!! Location couldn't be better for me since I love one block away. Couple of improvements I would suggest: the place needs more new bags ! Also, sometimes classes get way too packed. The "studio" is located on the top floor of a community center. To say it needs a major cosmetic overhaul is an understatement compare to other ILKB places. If you buy a promotion thru Groupon, expect to be pressured into buying a membership from the people in this studio. Let me at least try the class and see if I like it before committing myself! An amazing staff and facility, I started to join during my recent breakup. I told myself that I have to get back up and start doing something for myself so I went on Groupon to purchase a 7 day class. Once I got to class I was greeted with affection from everyone. The instructor guided use through the steps of safety and techniques to protect ourselves from injuries during training. The instructor also told us about a students past real life experience and it was something you will never forget. The first class was very intense for me, I wasn't able to last 15 minutes before running out of breathe. I sat down and every so often the staff members and instructor would take their time to ask me how I'm feeling, offering me water and some chocolate. I finally recovered and I was back on my feet. Now I am a member December 2019 and the second day of class I made it through without running out of breathe, my instructors taught me controlled breathing and correctly point out what I needed to work on. Everyone should come here because it's a great place to release your stress and to have an awesome time staying healthy, active and at the end of class having a positive attitude and being more energetic. read more

I bought this class from Groupon. First class was easy because I'm new. Hell started when I finished the class. The instructor came to push me HARD to sell membership. If you don't buy membership, they do this * I had to call to register a class(yes, you have to call) , they refused to put me in weekends class because class is full. * if you registered a class finally , they pushed you to come the classes 2-3,4 times a week and pushed over and over again. They are like money hungry gym and treat big different members and non members. * Then you had to confirm the class you registered (yes non members had to confirm) but they NEVER pick up your phone and no answering machine. I've been attending this kickboxing school for over a year now, and it has become the best work out decision I've ever made. I used to go to the gym 5-7 days a week and even hired a personal trainer, but didn't receive the results that I have achieved at ILoveKickBoxing.com/ForestHills. Yes, their monthly fee is more than any New York Sports club and is comparable to an Equinox monthly membership. I have come to the conclusion that every single penny of my monthly membership is completely worth it. The instructors are great, get you pumped up and will encourage you to challenge yourself. I have made wonderful friends while taking classes here and I love how everyone keeps each other motivated to keep pushing through the class. I've lost a considerable amount of weight taking classes here; gained muscle tone and become more defined. I started out just by buying the 3 classes and free gloves deal, but after the first class I knew right away this was something I wanted to continue. I was asked to leave a review for this place, and while I like the place, there are several issues that need work (I don't disagree with other reviews, but 5 starts means nothing is wrong, and a lot of things are wrong) Karate This is a bad week, to ask for a review, since this was a "promotion week." The promotions here are a joke. I do not understand how some people get promoted (or gets to jump a belt.) while others get intermediate belts. I have been part of the dojo for over 2 years and I see people that recently started with high belts (they are staff) or same level that others that have been here much longer (than them) Time management, Sunday class is a joke; it is a miss or hit. Sunday they are understaffed and most classes start late, and end (on time). Many times higher belts start the warm up and when senpai arrives, he starts a warm up again. Leaving class time to 20 to 15 minutes (classes are only 45 minutes) Classes aren't standard - although lately Senpai Artur, is following a curriculum, it seems that the only kata we do (and learn), is taikyoku shodan, how am I supposed to learn the other more advance katas? --- I can't hear taikyoku shodan anymore. It seems it is the only kata we ever practice (or the first three katas, which are all very similar) nobody has taken the time to explain higher forms. To be fair, Senpai Artur, tries (4 starts to him). It is transparent how much he cares about the students. But the lack of communication among the instructors, make the place look disorganized. Time, Schedule, Quality of classes, Belt graduation fairness must be improved. read more
