The best purchase from this store is a firm Indian style mattress... got this for my mom after she couldn't adjust to one of the more expensive mattress in a box purchase... she was very happy with the purchase . The mattress are labeled as Bangalore (firm) and mumbai( extra firm) there is a third option but these are the ones to pick... I got the more expensive Mumbai for my mom.... I bought a futon mattress called Delhi from king futon shop and it was horrible. After few months it developed a huge dip in the middle and became so uncomfortable and difficult to sleep in it. There is no return policy. Also I am surprised to see good reviews about the Lady who runs the business. She is very rude and if you ask few questions about the mattress , she gets mad and asks you to leave. This hidden gem has been here for years. It should be known to everyone that this place has the best prices and quality furniture. When I shopped around for my dining table, Christina beat the competition. Yes I visited a lot of Vietnamese furniture shops that have "low price" in their name. But King Futon gave the best prices for the same furniture...or even better quality furniture. This small warehouse has a small showroom with bed frames, dining sets, and of course, futons. I remember buying my first futon from her almost 10 years ago. I kid you not, it's still good as new, now in our guest room. I bought her "top-of-the-line" futon mattress and it still feels full and very comfortable. Not only does she create futon mattresses, but also makes quality covers that are inexpensive. If the item is not in her showroom, her catalogs have them all. Recently, I saw a nice dining set (w/ 8 chairs) in the catalog....she ordered it for me and it came quickly. My cousins just purchased a nice microfiber sofa/loveseat set from this place...and now they're looking pretty bling for a fairly low price. Terrible customer service! There was no one in the store besides myself and a young salesman with an attitude. When I was asking questions about the mattress, he was texting and completely ignored me. I confronted him, asking what kind of customer service this was and why is he not answering my questions. He said "what else do you wanna know?". He refused to let me touch any of the fabrics for the mattresses that were in the plastic, which were covered in a layer of dust. When another customer came in, he walked away from me to help them. I went to find the owner, told her what happened, and she said "he was probably taking care of the business". This is my second time here looking for something affordable. I found this place a few years back on yelp and the experience was really good. The owner, Christine, was super nice and was not pushy. Fast forward 4 years later, I moved out on my own. As everyone knows how costly it is to do that on their own in the Bay Area, I was looking for something affordable. I went to Macy's first and looked at some sales items and found a love seat with ottoman for $800 and was told delivery was $90 for the first piece and a second piece is $30! Thats more than what I had in mind with the $125 delivery fee. I ended up going to King Futon to check it out and Christine remembered me from 4 years ago! That's what I call customer service. She remembered where I worked back then too. Lol Anyways, found what I liked in a catalog and talked to Christine about it but she told me to go home and do the measurements again before committing. So glad she had me do it because I ended up changing what I had in mind cause my place is so tight and narrow. While most places are pushy and want you to spend more, Christine was not. This is why I definitely would recommend King Futon. The quality may not be on the high end side but for temporary living situations or for tight budgets, I recommend at least checking it out. They only carry coaster and some other furniture which limits your options but if you like something from the catalog, u will get the best price for that item, guaranteed!! Please don't buy any furniture that is made by their warehouse. I had been buying furniture from King Futon for the last 15 years and I feel that their quality came down drastically. The bed I bought back in 2004 is still intact. No issues at all. But all the beds my friends and myself bought on the recommendation of Christina are either completely broken or about to break down. Both of my friends bought bed frames along with mattresses from here. Both were broken even with very light use. So they told me not to consider this shop in future. This happened in 2014. Without heeding their advice, I went ahead and bought another queen bed in 2018. The current state of that bed is that, it makes continuous creaking sounds and is about to break apart if my kids get a bit wild in their play. Ironically, I am waiting for this bed to break apart, so I can buy a high quality bed frame from more reliable (and also very very competitive) shop in San Jose without looking back. And here is the bonus. Upon the demand from my kids, I bought a bunk bed from here in 2015. The top bunk quality is just O.K., but the bottom bed is another cheap quality. On some days I get so frustrated with the state of these beds at home and am waiting for the Spring garbage collection in San Jose to just throw these beds and mattresses away. Christina. I was recommended this place by my friend so I went and bought a Queen Mattress (cotton) for my mom so that she feels comfortable like India. While buying I was told that flip the mattress every month or whenever I am changing covers. I bought 2 twin size metal bed frame from walmart to support this mattress, these bed frames are like mesh so there is a lot of air circulation for the mattress under the frame. After 30 days, I flipped the mattress and to my surprise there was FUNGUS/MOLD on the bed (see attached pictures). I immediately took this mattress to king futon and showed her receipt that its not even 1 month and there is fungus/mold growing on my mattress. Before I go into the discussion that I had with King Futon lady, let me give some background of my apartment. I am staying in my current apartment from last 5 years and I have 2 other mattresses (1 tempurpedic and another with a additional layer of softness for better comfort) bought from reputed stores like Sears etc. My apartment is on 2nd floor, well air ventilated, windows/balcony on EAST and WEST directions so that there is enough sunlight in my apartment. King futon lady gave me various reasons for fungus/mold ..... 1. your bed doesnt have ventilation 2. your apartment doesnt have enough ventilation 3. you should have flipped mattress every 15 days 4. you should wash bed cover every 15 days 5. you are living in damp place 6. I have seen worse and this is nothing, you can dry, clean and sleep ... and so on. My question was simple, even if i would have flipped mattress after 15th day, the fungus/mold would have been there and my apartment or bed is not so damp or without air ventilation that within first 15 days the fungus or mold grew on king futon mattress, if it was so then why it didn't grew on ANY of other mattresses or items in my apartment in last 5 years? On same note, do note that King futon is a warehouse!!! She kept on repeating same thing "If i accept i would have to throw this and loose all ~$300" and "when you left this place with mattress, fungus/mold wasn't there" .... I simply didnt understand why she doesn't get that even for me this will be complete trash of ~$300 and how on earth will she or myself miss the fungus/mold when we bought, its simple that it was present when i bought but it wasn't visible? But as a shrewd business women, she didn't accept it was manufacturing defect as she would have to replace it. Had it been after 2-3 months then I would have readily accepted fault on my end but these fungus/mold in 15 days ...... no way its my habitat, it was a manufacturing defect!!! Anyways, I learned it hard way ... "everything that is cheaper is not always good!". With other stores, around same price or ~100 more at least we have 30-90 days warranty. I am not giving 1 star for the mattress or its price but for the VALUE king futon gives to its customer over their business and also the fact there is no option as NO STAR! We have been their customer for 5 years, 2 beds , 4 night stands , and also sent our friends here. They were great a while back. However something isn't right anymore. The customer service is horrible. The guy is very rude and not helpful. When we bought a third bed he didn't warn that it doesn't work with adjustable motorized base. Christina and her employees are really good people who run an honest business. I bought a futon here last week and they couldn't have been nicer. They carried the stuff out to the car for me and even hooked it up when I needed some longer screws (the manufacturer put the wrong size ones in, it would seem) with no hassles. Their store/warehouse is kind of dumpy looking, but the prices reflect the low overhead - and those are pretty darn good. One of the best businesses in the Bay Area. They are a face to face operation, so don't expect email responses or the phones to get answered. The bottom line is that you will get a good deal if they have the furniture that you want. If you've never been you might look a few times for a furniture store. The biggest hint that you're at King Futon is that there's a small canvas sign saying "King Futon". My reaction was : "Oh shit, this is a furniture store?" It will take a while to figure out if you want to buy from this place or not but you'll soon realize that their price can't be beat. Sure you can pay $3,000 from some fancy designer place but you can get a couch here for $500. With the $3K couch, you'll want to keep it Forever! (or as long as possible). With the $500 couch, you can change the couch every x number of years and not be bored with your furniture. At least that what I told myself. We had the most pleasant shopping experience at King futon. The place is a no frill establishment that gets the most rock bottom prices around in the valley. We shopped around 5-6 furniture stores and everywhere the prices were higher than King's Futon. We ended up getting a King size bed, chest, two night stands at this place, and easily saved at least $300 over the next cheapest store. We ordered off the Coaster's catalog and the furniture was delivery at our home, 4 days later, unpacked and assembled to our utmost satisfaction. Tip: One down side is that their in-store displays are very limited, so you have to go to 5 other stores, hoping you find the furniture that you really want to order. Kristina is awesome, we troubled her so many times changing furniture model, and she was spectacular in waiting for our final decision. Very friendly, a little talkative, but very friendly :) in the end she even recognized our voices over the phone, which was nice personal touch, given that she might be talking to at least 50 people a day. Another favor she pulled for us was to call us over when one customer ordered a bed similar to ours, so that we could see what we would be getting. But after reading the reviews, we drove to King Futon and WOW. What a find. They definitely keep their operating budget low. The "store" is next to the warehouse. Christina was extremely helpful and did not hassle or pressure us to buy. We ordered our bed last week and it arrived today. The delivery was made right after they received the shipment on the same day. It was very nice of them to do so. The bed was nicely and quickly set up. I found this place quite easily. I was prepared for a "hole in the wall" so not surprised. The matresses were what i was expecting and the person helping me never tried to upsell or hide anything. All over a good experience. Only con i felt was that the mattreses that were laid out to try looked very dirty. We bought a sofa/recliner 2 years back and it was bonded leather coaster recliner. We spent close to $550+shipping on it and now the so called leather is coming out from seats making it look so ugly that we cannot even sell it on craigslist. We first came here looking for bookcases and an office desk. They had one type of bookcase with 6 different finishes to choose from. Same goes for the office desk. The prices for those were the best. I would say it's comparable to Ikea but better quality. I wasn't very picky with the type of bookcase and office desk I wanted so I didn't mind that their showroom was very limited. However, if you are looking for a bedroom or dining set, it might be good to go to the bigger furniture stores first, see it in person and then come here and buy it for much cheaper.
