Okay. Last night I read some of the reviews here and I basically dreamed of all the bad experiences people had! BUT today I spent almost 2 hrs inside the store and with the help of Stephanie and Landon I narrowed down my choices down from 20+ to 2 pairs of glasses. They were kind, knowledgeable and assisted me and three other people who came in. I don't know what the complainers had to complain about but my experience was top-notch! This location has the rudest staff person I've ever encountered who is associated with Mykita, which is a such a disservice to a brand I've patronized for over a decade. For context, I have purchased 7 pairs of glasses from Mykita over the years, mostly from their location in DC, but the best experience I had was buying in Berlin where the staff was helpful and very friendly. By the way, my favorite pair of all was one made from 3D printing. It was light, comfortable, and stylish, and I highly recommend this material. I came to this LA location last week with high hopes but was sorely disappointed. They keep the doors locked, which is acceptable in DTLA, but when I knocked, the one guy on staff looked at me and gestured to me as if to say, "Wait...I'll get to you when I'm available," as if I was some sort of annoyance. I should've just left at that point, but I waited outside like an idiot for a good five minutes. Upon letting me in, there was no greeting, no apology, no thanks for waiting, no "How can I help?" I proceeded to browse their selection while the staff person helped another customer who was already there. I stayed for a good 20 minutes, during which the staff person did not once let me know that he would be with me, apologize for the wait, or invite me to let him know if I needed anything. There was literally zero communication or acknowledgment of my presence, much less appreciation for my taking the time to visit the store. Fed up with the silent treatment, I proceeded to head towards the exit, and when I tried to unlock the door myself, the staff person simply said, "I'll do it," walked over and let me out. Again, no thanks, no invitation to come back, no apology for not being able to help me, not even a goodbye. Whoever owns this store should either fire their staff, or just close up shop. They hurt the Mykita brand, and I'm so ready to check out new brands after sticking with them for 14 years. read more

I have been eying this brand for a time and was so excited to find that they had a brick and mortar store in LA. Their selection is huge and a little overwhelming so thank goodness their staff was super friendly and not pushy at all. I told them what they I was looking for and they pulled a few frames while I browsed the store. They pulled these sleek black frames with a touch of gold accent on the hinges which I immediately fell in love with. I love how lightweight the frames are. They have a lot of different lens options which the associate will review in detail. I got one that was a little more pricey since I have stronger strength prescription and wanted to make sure the lens wouldn't come out too thick. The glasses were done in under two weeks. If you call ahead they have spot you can use while picking up your frames in case you can't find parking out front. I definitely recommend if you are looking for something stylish, professional and fun. They will probably run you about a grand but I think it's well worth the investment as they are so unique and comfortable. read more

I've never experienced such an unfriendly and incompetent staff in my life. I bought my Mykita from a authorized seller before this store existed, and my sides were loose and kept bending when I folded it. I went to the Mykita and told them and they told me they couldn't fix it and that I hade to buy brand new sides. So I did. I waited for more than 2 months because they said "Covid issues". When I got my frames back with the new sides I saw that the sides still bending so I said what's going on, and the guy that was there (a different guy from before) told me it wasn't the problem with the sides and instead it was the hinge from the front frame. I said wtf why didn't you guys tell me this before. They wouldn't take responsibility for it and was being quiet. I told them I couldn't accept this. I eventually had to pay for the front of the frame too. None of the staff cared about any of this. Today I got the frame back but all of the staff looked like they hated their jobs. They were giving me attitude when I asked them to adjust the frame. And when I asked if I could get a case for the new glasses the long red-headed guy with tattooed sleeve said we don't just give those out. The guy I spoke with the time before literally said when you come back next time we can give you a case for free. So I told this to the red head and he said I don't know who that guy is but you have to pay for it. I don't know what corporate is up to but all the staff look like they hate their jobs or are trying to get fired. They just tarnished their brand completely. I'll definitely not be coming to this store again, let alone buy another Mykita. read more

Very cool store in a historic Art Deco Eastern Columbia Building in downtown LA. I bought a pair of sunglasses from here a few weeks ago. They feel incredibly light and look unique. The staff are very pleasant and accommodating. They did their due diligence to adjust the sunglasses to my face and told me to bring my other pair of MYKITA sunglasses to be adjusted even though i did not buy them at this store. Myketa is a top brand and well made in Berlin, Germany. It's totally understandable that you pay premium prices for their frames, but, putting on a prescription Zeiss lenses staring at $550.00 is a bit of stretch since you can have other Myketa dealer put on a pair of Zeiss for under $500.00. Shop around before you commit to pay close to 1k if you want progressive, anti-glare and transitional Zeiss lenses. I did and I'm happy! read more

Not only is this brand a dream (lightest-highest quality materials and craftsmanship) but when you buy a pair you get access to their exclusive client support -for life!-. I recently had to send one of my pairs for adjustment by mail. I sat on them, but they didn't brake, because my model has no parts (no annoying screws!), it's just one ultralight continuous piece. Adrain and Bobby were so efficient: they responded, got them fixed, cleaned up, and sent back in no time with my Zeiss lens cleaner solution refill. They look brand new and I was not charged at all for the service, including the mailing. I have never been charged to get them cleaned/adjusted. I bought two pairs of the same frame because I know they will last and I will wear them until I'm old. Not only is the model timeless, classic, yet contemporary, but most importantly they don't give me headaches. I cannot emphasize how light they are. If you're looking for a cheap pair of sunglasses for the beach - wrong store! Mykita is high-end, super-luxe frames made in Berlin, and they are priced to match. That said, the craftsmanship is excellent, especially with their featherweight feel. Mykita frames tend toward Euro-modern but fairly classic styling, so their styles do not look dated by next season. They have some collaborations - notably with Maison Margiela - and their Mylon range is made via 3D printing for a very unique feel and structure. Long story short, this is sunglass-lover heaven. They serve regular glasses wearers, too; a friend who went in told me he found out they not only have an in-house lab but an in-house optometrist. You don't get that at Sunglass Hut. Mykita is head-and-shoulders above the Luxottica, Safilo, Marchon, and other Big Eyewear products, and the prices reflect that. For most people, deciding to lay down $500-$600 for a pair of sunglasses is a big deal. The staff at Mykita has been very welcoming and approachable and knowledgeable, so the new Downtown boutique is such a great addition. read more

I just wanted to give a shoutout to this store and for Adrian in particular. He helped save a pair of Mykita glasses where my frame broke. He helped me to order a new front part of the frame, and helped to polish my lenses so that they would fit the frame better as they appeared to be cut a bit too big for the frame from the optician I purchased the frames from. He was exceedingly professional, skilled, and patient in helping me special order the part from Europe and explain to me the best options to be done. In the end, he was able to save for me a pair of special glasses at a much lower cost than replacing the glasses. He is superbly skilled in understanding the different lens options, cuts, and how to best fit lenses into mykita frames - partly as a function of him dealing with more Mykita products but I think he is just talented. As for Mykita products, they are top notch. Unbelievably stylish, there is a frame for every taste. Just note the thinner Lite series frames may be a little bit more delicate than the normal series, but as long as you don't bang your glasses around and the lenses fit your frame, you should be OK. read more

This is my first time here, I usually go to Tokyo for my glasses. Last night, I saw the interesting design about Mykita's glasses KENDRICK with clip-on shades on their website. I love this idea to have one pair of glasses for two different kinds of use, it's perfect under the California sunshine. Emily is so nice to help me find which pair works best for me, and the store's interior design looks very contemporary. Love them all. If you are looking for someone who is really professional about their work, just come here. Emily and the other staffs here will be very helpful and truly considered about your comfort and need. Incredible, phenomenal service here. Words can't describe how great Bobby, Taylor, and the rest of the staff are here. I bought my MYKITA glasses from a different optician, but stopped by the MYKITA store because my glasses were slipping off my face and wanted to get them adjusted. Turns out the temples were too short for my face, and I needed a longer set. Since I purchased the glasses from a different optician, Bobby advised that I needed my optician to order them for me. Contacted my optician and for some reason they said they couldn't do it even though it's MYKITAs policy. I then went back to Bobby, who offered to talk to my optician directly to help me resolve the issue. For some reason, my optician still refused to help me out, so Bobby took the matter into his own hands to work some magic with HQ to get me the right temples. To be clear, it definitely wasn't his responsibility and he had no obligation to help me, but he's just a great guy and wanted to make sure I was happy with my glasses. Once the temples came in, Taylor helped me install the new temples and made sure the fit was right. I'm definitely buying my next pair of glasses here. The best place to buy MYKITA frames! I was so happy when LA finally got it own store about 3 years ago. Every single staff member here is outstanding, super helpful, and kind. Shout out to the store manager Ivana. :) I have bought many pairs here since they opened and brought in MYKITA frames I had bought else wear before the store was opened to be fixed, get new lenses, or get new nose pads and temples. They are the best quality sunglasses and eyeglasses all handmade in Germany. They are definitely worth the investment, I have had pairs for 5 years and they look brand new. Insanely good customer service. I have a pair of Ferris sunglasses. I had the coils changed last year at this location, with no appointment. It was fast and easy. They also offered to clean them and a new case but I was in a rush to get out so I declined their kind offer. This year the hinges were wobbly again so I came with more time and asked for the repair, the cleaning and the new case. Again no appointment needed, they did everything in 10 minutes and when I handed them my credit card they said: what is that for?! We stand by our products. I'm blown away at their customer service. Firstly, I bought my Mykita glasses from Kurata Eyecare in Little Tokyo, and they're pretty cool! From what I was told, the designers, who are architects, of ic! berlin, known for their screw-less frames, left and made Mykita and improved their frames. Anyhow, my Mykita glasses broke and I'm glad they had a store since they were able to fix it! They were so kind and understanding and it didn't cost me a thing since it's still under warranty. I'm glad they had a location in Downtown LA so I could fix it...they were expensive frames! Their frames are $500 and up, at least the ones I like, and if you wear glasses regularly like I do, it's a good investment. You get compliments and they're comfortable, light, and durable to wear. Well, mine broke because I left it on my bed and rolled on it while I slept... it was a minor fix that I could not do, but they easily did and it was ready in a day or so. Anyhow, when I can get glasses again, I think it'll be Mykita for me! read more

I purchased a pair of glasses at a location in San Diego. I had a great interaction with my sales person and the overall team of the store, but the fit just didn't seem 100% on my Mykita glasses. I decided I wanted to go to the actual store for them to take a look at my frames and experience the customer service they offered. I feel like this is the actual test for businesses to really highlight their customer service abilities and to see how they appreciate your support for their brand, seeing how I was going in for an adjustment/ repair and not to pursue the product selection. This store passed with flying colors! Amazing service! Never once did they make me feel like I was wasting their time. They adjusted my frames to fit my face perfectly and shared some knowledge about the glasses that my optical store in SD wasn't able to help with. Bobby was really helpful and a wealth of knowledge. I wear prescription glasses all the time and love Mykita frames. I was surprised (and thrilled) to find there was a store in LA. They were really helpful with parking (let me into their lot bc on a weekday parking can be tricky) and were kind to let my dog accompany me. They helped me select frames and I decided to have them put in the lenses. They have a very sophisticated machine to take all your eye measurements which was helpful for me since I have progressive lenses. My prescription lenses came out great. They give a discount on frames if you get your lenses there. And I must go to a too expensive optician in OC because I don't think I paid any more than I would have even with our VSP insurance and got superior lenses. An aside, though opticians "discount" the frames for clients with VSP insurance they often mark the price up by more than 100% so its not such a great deal at the end. Can't wait to splurge for another pair. read more

I'm pretty horrified. Brought in my jenky Mykita's that I just bought because the frame is bent and a lens is scratched. I've only had these a couple months, and when they aren't on my face, they're in their Mykita case. So they had them to fix for a couple hours, but when I stopped back in they hadn't touched them. Instead, they asked where I bought them (Dan Deutsch) and if I had the receipt. The f&@k?! I paid full retail price for these, they aren't cheap, and the company that makes them won't fix them? The salespeople said "thanks for being understanding," when they handed the glasses back to me unfixed. Well, I'm not understanding, because I don't understand. They are Mykita, this is a Mykita store, and Mykita should fix their own glasses. The people working here made me feel sick the way they treated me, so glad I didn't Pretty Woman them to make myself feel better, because they don't deserve a single cent from me.
