This is my first time ever checking out the local pet store. I love that they offer a variety of unique pet food brands. The brands they offer are dehydrated dog food, probiotic vitamin dog food, and other high performance brands at a reasonable price. I purchase dehydrated sweet potatoes slices for my German Shepherd and Frenchie. I decided to try Diamond Grain Free Wild Caught fish with sweet potatoes all life stages for only $30. They also sell toys, vests, collars, and clothes for cats and dogs. I had a positive experience with friendly staff helping out with selecting a brand. Finally made it to the OG IB Pet store! I've gone to all of them except this one! Out of all of them I want to say it is the cutest! HUGE frozen section, was able to find what I needed right away. As usual friendly staff that I've encountered at all their other locations here as well!!! It's deep in IB right by where the strand starts. Great parking lot with easy in and easy out access. Didn't take any pictures or video as we were kind of in a hurry trying to beat traffic to get back home but I WILL BE BACK! To explore the entire store with more time read more

UPDATE please read I won't change my review of this place because it's not their fault but watch out for the chews for your pet. My dog got extremely sick from a rabbit chew from this place and had to see an emergency vet. It didn't get lodged he chewed it fine but it must have some sort of bacteria on it and now he's on medication. Sometimes open box treats/chews. It's possibly salmonella so just be mindful of that. Also flys can transfer bacteria as well. Just an FYI. But to save anyone else possibly losing their pet or a very high vet bill I'd just avoid those. read more

I have had dogs my entire life. And now I have a 9-week-old Siamese kitten, her name is Kenya. First time cat owner, so needless to say I am overwhelmed because I didn't do my research and I knew what I was feeding her was just not good enough. I walked into this shop looking like a confused soul. I was immediately greeted by the cashier who was helping out two other customers and she noticed that I looked lost. She asked me if I had any questions. I just said "I am a first-time cat owner, I am looking to get my new kitten onto a full raw diet, and I don't know where to start. Or if it even the right move." She said to let her finish taking care of the two customer that were there and that I have come to the right place, she assured me that I was going to get setup with everything I needed and that doing this was the best thing I could possibly do for a new kitten. I was not prepared for the amount of knowledge that this person dropped on me for the next 5-10 minutes. She gave me a plan to transition, she told me everything I was doing wrong and how to fix it, she literally sounded so enthusiastic about what she was introducing to m, AND NOT ONCE did she make me feel like an idiot and was just so focused on getting me on the right path to give my new kitten a well-balanced raw diet. I literally trusted everything she was saying to me at that point. I would have bought the entire freezer if she told me to. I even wanted to buy a bit more, and she advised against it. She said to stick to plan with the raw nuggets into the wet food and the raw kibble, slowly add the raw chicken as I remove the more and more kibble, AND when I'm on the second half of my raw chicken I should be close to having Kenya on a full raw diet. She even said I will see you in a couple weeks. WOW. This is beyond customer service. These are people who love what they do, and they believe in what they sell. I am so grateful I drove by and decided to "check this place out." I have been on Yelp for many, many years. and not once have I cared enough or taken the time to right out a review. But this Store and all of its employees deserve a shout out. The owners must be very proud of the team they have put together. You have gained a lifelong customer in me. Recently got a puppy so we were looking for the best pet stores in San Diego. I've passed by the IB pet in Chula Vista but decided to just drive the distance because it looked bigger. I've been trying to visit every best store I could because we moved to a small city where there's barely anything for my pup. When we got here, I immediately fell in love. It was definitely like disneyland for my pup. He was excited and started to sniff everything in sight and even the workers spoiled him with pets and rubs. I didn't catch her name but one of the ladies with a facial piercing was helping us and even gave us a great recommendation for a organic rawhide. I don't give my puppy rawhides cause they're awful for his stomach. She told me I could just hold it up to him and see which one he liked so we grabbed one. We also got him some toys because the pricing here is amazing! I was excited to see alot of the toys I've been eyeing online and they have a great selection. Some of the toys are even cheaper than amazon, how can you beat that?! I even appreciate how they give military discount. Ive been coming to this pet store for at least 5-6 years now and I've been long overdue to write my review for this amazing pet store. I went in the last 15 min before closing on Monday and the girls that were working are extremely helpful and go out of their way to assist a customer. I always bring my fur babies with me, but since I was in a rush to get here before closing I couldn't :( When I came in to the store I was greeted by one of the girls her name is Isabelle. She also answered my questions about CBD dog cookies and gave me alternative options. I love that the employees here are so very friendly and have great customer service... they deserve 10 stars. I search far and wide for a specific medicine for my two French bulldogs. I called all the major pet stores to include Petsmart and Petco and neither of them had what I wanted. I did my due diligence and research and unfortunately I had to buy the first medicine online however per the recommendation of the individual selling me the medicine he said to check my local pet stores which IB pets was. IB pets I found to be very Organized. The customer service reps were very knowledgeable and very friendly. I called the one in Chula Vista to no avail however I ended up going to the one in imperial Beach and they had the medicine and were very knowledgeable. I would definitely go back here. Anywhoosville-- This place is a great pet shop, with a good variety of quality foods, treats, toys, and supplies for your pup! My favorite thing is that they have decently priced hides, bones, etc. I like to get my Aussie a "special treat" every so often, and I typically buy them from Howlistic. I feel like IB Pet has a better selection, better prices, and overall WAY better customer service. I was greeted and helped by several different employees! It's cool because this place is right next to a groomer as well. I've never taken MY Dog there, but that may be a plus for other pup owners. My ONLY downside was they didn't have the things I needed for my turtle. They did have a small selection, but not his particular brand of food I always get him. Not a big deal for me at all. Being a tried and true cat person for over 30 years (we were a household of 5 cats), we are now a dog owner. Yep, all of our kitties led wonderful lives lives and now we have Twizzel. She's a rescue and it's been a fun change for us. Having said this, it's also a new learning curve and IBP Pet has helped us all the way. BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!! I bought this 'anti-bark' collar for my dog from them (kind of expensive). And it didn't work really well for my dog (he is not a constant barker, just occasionally). But, I called the manufacturer customer service and they recommended that I return it to IB Pet for a different model. So, I asked my son to return it for me and, three months later, I found it in his room. No box, no receipt. And IB Pet STILL took it BACK!! I honestly really like this place for the friendly staff and the large variety of products for pets. But lately there's been a couple times here that left a bad taste in my mouth and I feel like it's time to take my business elsewhere. About a month ago, I went in and was told the flea Advantage I use for my cats was out and was recommended Chesterin for Cats by the sales associate, saying it's almost identical, if not better. I briefly googled the product and didn't see anything immediate related to pet sickness/death. However, upon putting this product on my first cat, he immediately began vomiting profusely until I washed it off him after about 5-10 minutes. I then googled these symptoms with the name of the brand and saw an instance or two where these symptoms progressed into death, and that Chesterin for Cats was not FDA approved. I went back and explained it to the sales associate(not the same one that recommended it, this was the next day that I finally applied it). She let me know politely store policy was that any topical flea medication couldn't be refunded, especially if already used. She also mentioned due to the nature of my issue, to come back the next day and speak to the manager if I would like to continue with my refund. Throughout the night, my cat didn't show any extra signs of sickness and was fine so I blamed myself for not researching the product at let the issue drop. Today I went back for flea wash and spray for my puppy. My account was short $3 for the total, but instead of declining it all together, the merchant they use charged the money left in my account. The cashier voided the transaction and I had asked to just buy one product since I didn't have enough in my account. Then that transaction declined. Essentially I need to wait a few days before the merchant actually puts my money back in my account before I can buy flea medication for my dog, and it just sucks I'm gonna have to sit and watch her be irritated because of this. The sales associate was so polite and I don't see it in any way her fault, but the fact the money was taken out of my account without the transaction simply being declined is bad for business in my opinion. There's plenty of other pet stores I'm going to be taking my business to now because I've never experienced issues like this any where else, and when it comes to my pets and the money I use to take care of them, it doesn't seem to hold much value to IB pet if I go somewhere else, anyways. All in all, they should review the products they decide to carry and have the sales associates recommend as replacements to actually FDA approved products, as well as just training their staff better in regards to dealing with situations with their merchant services, because something didn't go right there. read more

This place is awesome. The employees are so helpful and they have a variety of alternative diets. I started feeding my pet raw food due to a medical condition and was able to return one unopened bag and another bag that had been used slightly after my pet was unable to eat that food any longer due to advancement of the medical condition. The staff even said they would call me to update me about an arrival of a new shipment of a special food for my pet. It seems like the staff you're genuinely care about your pet's well-being and want to help you. I highly recommend the store. read more

This place is awesome I have taken my dog there a couple times and they really know there stuff. My dog is problematic with other dogs so she'll bark at them but if we are alone in the store she loves it walks around sniffing everything they have a water bowl and treats for dogs. But above all else I've gotten amazing advice and help from everyone who works there, things I wouldn't assume a generic cashier would know, they really care, reasearch and LOVE animals. They always ask if you need help & what I love most if their knowledge of the stuff they sale & of dogs. We come here to get our dog food mainly because it's one of the only places that carries decent dog food but BEWARE the young red head if you ask for any for assistance and choose a path that isn't ALL NATURAL ORGANIC HIPPIE. Just wanted some medicated drops for our pups ears and had a medicated brand in my hand that I had already read about just wanted to make sure it was the better brand but basically got her all natural opinion shoved down our throats then proceeds to have an attitude while checking us out then my husband asks for our discount then she pretends to forget so I have to ask again and honestly sweetie if you can't provide customer service you really shouldn't be in a position that caters to customers. read more
