    Oversized "medium" ice cream‍

Ice cream too big for the cone. Could be a 5 star, but ice cream size varies all the time from one extreme to another

    It's a lady...and it's a cone...it's ice cream lady!

Alright fine..."Richardson's Family Ice Cream" - but with with such a prominent mascot as the ice cream cone turned tophat-wearing spokeswoman...well... You'll become a landmark for this little town. Conveniently located on 16E, only about one mile from the spoilt for Wallum Lake and Douglas State Forest and in the same shop as a conference store, Dunks walk-in/drive-thru, and full-service has station with likely the best unleaded prices locally. At this point, locally-made ice cream is the literal cherry on top. !! CASH ONLY !! But there is an ATM on the premises if you don't mind the surcharge. You very well may not need it considering the wonderfully reasonable prices (frappe: $4.50, kiddie ice cream: $2.55). A file array of flavors; your usual suspects (maple walnut, pistachio, purple cow, moose tracks) and a few irregulars (peanut butter oreo, Kahlua brownie). Open 11:30 - 9:30 daily (in the summer) and nearly never a long wait for your sweet fix. Well worth a stop!

Great servers, fair prices and lines move quickly. There are a few tables with a good view of Douglas Fire Dept. The ambiance is fair!

My friend and I had just left the Southwick zoo and wanted a sweet treat to cool off. West End…read moreCreamery was about a 20 minute drive away. When we arrived, we pulled into their large parking lot off to the side. There is a sign that has all the things they offer including ice cream, mini golf, adventure farm, and venue(s) for birthday parties. We wanted ice cream so we went straight to the wooden cabin looking building and joined the line. Despite there being a line, it moved quick. I appreciated that they have their menu posted in about 4-5 places along the building so you can easily see their options from every spot. I asked to try about three flavors and finally settled on blueberry pie and peanut butter truffle in a sugar cone. My friend ordered two scoops of black raspberry. The total came out to $13 which is average for ice cream and the scoops they give are pretty big which makes it worth it. They have a lot of picnic tables on their patio, with some in the shade and others in the sun. As I ate my ice cream, l admired the lake and big trees in the distance; it truly is a beautiful space. The blueberry pie was not overly sweet, but it did have little pieces of blueberry and soft pie crust. The peanut butter truffle was a peanut butter base with chocolate chips and peanut butter cups. It was a perfect balance of peanut butter and chocolate and not overwhelmingly sweet. I would absolutely come back to try other flavors.

There was a lot of people, but the line still floats rather quickly. It was nice to be able to eat ice cream and sit outside enjoying the weather and a lovely scenery. Highly recommended!

"It's all too much for me to take The love that's shining…read moreall around you Everywhere, it's what you make For us to take, it's all too much" (The Beatles) OK friends, here's a serious question. In all your years of going to restaurants and food stands, have you EVER seen a customer refuse something they ordered because the portion size was too much? Well, I'll willingly put my right hand on a stack of hot fudge cans and swear to the Chocolate Chip gods that I saw such a rare curiosity yesterday at Gibson Brothers Dairy Farm. A guy in front of us ordered a large cup of ice cream, and when the window attendant handed it to him it sure looked like it was the size of a quart container. The shocked customer said, "there's no way I can eat all of this, and I hate to waste food, so can you take some of this back?" Of course, she couldn't take it back, so the guy bravely took away his ice cream, sat at a picnic table with his buddy, and gave it the old college try. Luckily, we didn't order any large portions, just a small soft serve and a small cone. Our order was the culmination of a very long study of the flavors on the menu board, because Gibby's has over 70 types of hard ice cream and over 20 flavors of soft serve. My wife's small cone of banana walnut chocolate chip was immense, and the window attendant told us they use a scoop the size of a softball! The ice cream had plenty of walnuts and chocolate chips but we thought it was light on banana flavoring. I went with a small cup of white chocolate macadamia soft serve. Both of our ice creams ran around $10. Gibson Farms has been in Worcester for 100 years and has become a local institution. There are benches and picnic tables on a deck, and more benches and tables on the lawn to the side of the stand. And how did our friend with the gargantuan cup of ice cream do? Sad to say we saw him toss half of it into a trash can after he hit his limit. So -be advised a "large" is obscenely large, but a helluva bargain for around $6.
