In all your years of going to restaurants and food stands, have you EVER seen a customer refuse something they ordered because the portion size was too much? Well, I'll willingly put my right hand on a stack of hot fudge cans and swear to the Chocolate Chip gods that I saw such a rare curiosity yesterday at Gibson Brothers Dairy Farm. A guy in front of us ordered a large cup of ice cream, and when the window attendant handed it to him it sure looked like it was the size of a quart container. The shocked customer said, "there's no way I can eat all of this, and I hate to waste food, so can you take some of this back?" Of course, she couldn't take it back, so the guy bravely took away his ice cream, sat at a picnic table with his buddy, and gave it the old college try. Luckily, we didn't order any large portions, just a small soft serve and a small cone. Our order was the culmination of a very long study of the flavors on the menu board, because Gibby's has over 70 types of hard ice cream and over 20 flavors of soft serve. My wife's small cone of banana walnut chocolate chip was immense, and the window attendant told us they use a scoop the size of a softball! The ice cream had plenty of walnuts and chocolate chips but we thought it was light on banana flavoring. I went with a small cup of white chocolate macadamia soft serve. Both of our ice creams ran around $10. Gibson Farms has been in Worcester for 100 years and has become a local institution. There are benches and picnic tables on a deck, and more benches and tables on the lawn to the side of the stand. And how did our friend with the gargantuan cup of ice cream do? Sad to say we saw him toss half of it into a trash can after he hit his limit. So -be advised a "large" is obscenely large, but a helluva bargain for around $6. read more

The word of mouth reviews about this place were so good that we had to skip our usual place to come here. Big disappointment. The prices are not listed anywhere outside on their menu boards, sketchy. You can only see prices while you are actually ordering if you crane your neck inside. The soft serve flavors say they are all natural but mine had a chemical taste and did not taste like s'mores. Tucked away in the in-roads of the neighborhood, this is Worcester's hidden gem for old fashioned Ice cream. You might overlook this Red Barn facade if you drive by too fast but keep your eyes peeled for "Gibby's Famous Ice Cream" and you won't miss it. Their ice cream is absolutely high quality, fresh & home made, and offer a wide variety of flavors and styles, so there are options for everybody. I've only ever had their hard ice cream because that's my go-to but I doubt soft serve or their famous "Wizard" would disappoint at all either. Mint Oreo is my absolute favorite here, they execute it so well. Not too sweet and not much of that artificial mint stuff and packed generously. Speaking of that, portions and price ratio are one of the best I've seen from local ice cream shacks all around New England. Super cheap too, for a small $3-4! My only reasons for 4 stars is because several times I've had to wait 15+ minutes to be seen at the window, and the lines weren't even that long. It's just there was only one worker on this hot summer day which is odd but the worker was polite and sweet and did apologize so its no big deal. Also, their waffle cones have been a little stale lately, so that needs some work. I hate the little paper wrap around the bottom of the cone, the stick and who wants to eat that? and it just means they buy common ones. If they could improve the quality of the cones and work on faster service, they'd get my 5 stars. We decided to stop by this place on a hot day and the ice cream was delicious. They also have a small outdoor patio where you can sit and enjoy the ice cream. We ordered a waffle cone with mocha chocolate chip and the brownie sundae. They let me switch out regular vanilla ice cream in the sundae with chocolate chip which I think added to the flavor. The brownie was dense but delicious and their whipped cream tasted freshly made. They give large portions so I ended up taking half my sundae home and freezing it to have on another night. They have an extensive menu so I am looking forward to trying some of their other options. The only issue we had was the slow service despite a long line of customers outside. They had two windows open and it seemed one of the windows would close every other customer because they said they "would be right back." read more

This review is in regards to the actions taken by Gibson Brothers'. No precautions have been taken and when waiting in like many customers and some STAFF were NOT social distancing or wearing masks. The line was cramped and people ate ice cream around those who waiting. Although, the ice cream was good, the same quality ice cream can be found somewhere else where customer service is above average. All in all, I don't recommend coming here while the pandemic persists. read more

I love Gibby's. The portions are ginormous and the flavors are great. I love the pistachio. It has so many actual pistachios in it! The kids that work there are always polite and earn their tips. I've been going to Gibby's for 3 years and I have been consistently pleased. The hot dogs are always a nice treat too! A word of warning. Stopped here on the evening of a warm Memorial Day weekend. Line was very long but moved quickly. Service was fast and courteous at the window. My girlfriend had peanut butter cup ice cream, while I opted for pistachio. Her kids had raspberry and chocolate. Everything was delicious. I love Gibby's. The homemade ice cream is all wonderful and they have so many flavors. I find the prices very reasonable and you get a TON of ice cream for the price. A small is ample for me, and I love ice cream. It's also the only place in the area (that I know of) that serves ginger ice cream. He chose Milky Way in a cup and I chose PB cup and Coffee Oreo in a waffle cone. Fantastic ice cream! High quality, creamy, and LOTS of great flavors. Also, the quantities are quite generous. I ate a small mocha chip sundae and it was more than enough, but well worthwhile! My only complaints about this place are that it is in an odd neighborhood--you really have to use gps to find it. Also, there are no bathrooms, so we found ourselves trudging down to the nearby grocery store. All in all, Gibbs is well worth the effort when driving through the area. read more

They only take cash but it feels like every single ice cream place in Worcester started to do this for some unknown reason. With there being so much good ice cream to chose from in the summer I decided to try this out as I usually go to Meolas I live like 5 mins from gibby's so I gave it a try and I'm VERY HAPPY I DID!! The ice cream is amazing, perfect texture very true flavor and never bothers my stomach like other places have. Even there soft serve is above the rest which for me saids a lot because I always feel like all soft serve taste the same. A small is practically a medium and the prices are about average. Give it a try it's not nearly as busy as some other places either. read more
