Everyone is so nice here!! Great casual vibe. The ice cream is delicious!! I had the Dubai Chocolate this time!! Always something new to try and great seasonal choices like Pumpkin Cheesecake and Caramel Apple Orchard Pie. So good!!

Ahhhhhh! Feels like joy! Always fresh, creamy and dreamy ice cream (mint chip my go to, zero artificial color or flavor), served by a happy team!!! Of course crunchy crushed buttery waffle cone... just what the doc ordered.

I was impressed by the variety of flavors available. New City in Hudson is spacious with plenty of seating and even offers board games for guests to enjoy. I tried the tiramisu and salted cookies and cream flavors. While the tiramisu was a bit underwhelming, the salted cookies and cream flavor was absolutely delicious. My mom opted for the cake batter flavor and loved it. My mom and I had different opinions on the waffle cone. My mom really liked it, but I found it to be way too sweet for my taste.

Spacious ice cream shop with plenty of fun and original flavors. They have a small water station so you don't have to spend money on a bottle of water when the sugar hits you and you get thirsty, which makes up for the child sized ice cream clocking in at $4.75. I tried a vegan option - raspberry lemonade. We had a big dinner so the sorbet was the right choice- It was refreshing and sweet. Others in my party ordered salted caramel. They liked it. One got the salted caramel topping and didn't love the topping, but still thought the ice cream was pretty good. They have a freezer with specialty treats including boxes of mini ice cream cones with the tops dipped in chocolate. I would have purchased them if we were going home directly. Parking is on the street. We didn't have a problem finding a spot. Friendly and helpful staff. We will be back.

Such a great place. Cool vibe. Amazing icecream and super nice staff. They even make icecream cakes which are amazing!

Absolute ripoff. Stay away. We were absolutely horrified by the insanely priced scoops of ice cream which are meticulously weighed by the server to avoid over serving even 1/10th of a gram. This isn't Paris or London it's g'dam Hudson MA. We havent been here in a few years and it's absolutely NOT our go to after dinner at the Rail Trail. Sure hope it closes down soon.

Vanilla Bourbon & Newtella Roche (sp?) kiddie scoops

Had dinner at The Rail Trail Flatbread Co. with my mother and definitely couldn't skip dessert, so we walked across the street to New City Microcreamery...Lucas whom helped us was patient, a complete doll, super sweet & professional!

Bananas Foster Milkshake

There's nothing quite like elevated ice cream. After dinner, my work group decided a sweet treat would cap the night off perfectly. Enter New City Microcreamery! I deliberated on all the core flavors and the rotating "taps" -- finally landing on a boozy Bananas Foster milkshake. I'm a sucker for anything banana but throw some butter, brown sugar and rum in there.. man! I've nearly had it all; the traditional bananas foster dessert, pancakes, waffles, and french toast but never in a velvety, sippable form. I can see why this place is dubbed the best ice cream in Massachusetts. Thanks New City for ending our night with some sweetness!

This is a spacious coffee shop/creamery with many interesting flavors available. They allow you to sample flavors before deciding and I kind of wish I had tried more. I got the bourbon vanilla, which was creamy and definitely representative of both those flavors, and the Mexican chocolate, which I regret getting a little--it was good but nothing really special and the texture was not as creamy. My boyfriend got strawberry and Oreo and both those flavors were great even though I normally don't like strawberry ice cream. The texture of all the ice creams I tried here are decently creamy, but lacking (in my opinion) in some way that I can't really put my finger on. They seem a little "dry" and not as soft to me and that's probably the best way I can put it. The ice cream here was also pricy and portions were not up to par with your standard New England creamery, though I understand that's not what this place is. I am used to being able to get a one scoop or kiddie scoop with two flavors in it and still have the cone or cup be satisfyingly overflowing. Here you have to get two scoops for two flavors. I don't regret coming though and might return if in the area to try more flavors.

Back for Seconds: A Review of Checkerboards Restaurant & Bar in Judson, MA…read moreThe Verdict: Round two, and I'm still here. That has to count for something, right? I returned to Checkerboards recently, mostly to confirm that the deliciousness of my first visit wasn't just a hunger-induced hallucination. I am happy to report that the pizza remains structurally sound and emotionally supportive. Here's the breakdown of the second outing: The Atmosphere: It has that classic "I'm here to eat 2,000 calories and I don't care who sees me" energy. It's cozy, it's bustling, and the checkered decor is still successfully keeping me from forgetting the name of the establishment. The Food: I dove into the pizza again because I'm a creature of habit and change scares me. The crust had that perfect "crunch-to-chew" ratio that scientists should really be studying more closely. It's the kind of pizza that makes you consider ordering a second one just to have as a pillow for the inevitable food coma. The Service: The staff is impressively fast. I'm convinced they have a psychic link with the kitchen. My drink arrived before I even fully realized I was thirsty, which is either great service or light sorcery. The "Second Visit" Realization: You know a place is good when you spend the entire car ride there debating if you should try something new, only to panic and order exactly what you had last time because the FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out... on that specific sauce) is too real. Final Thought: If you see me there a third time, don't be alarmed. Just pass the parmesan and mind your business. Rating: 5/5 Stars. I'll be back for round three once my treadmill forgives me.

The ambiance was ok for a family restaurant. I ordered the nachos and ty hey we're great! Only let down was that they don't have guacamole. My daughter loves their homemade Mac and cheese! Including pictures. * Ordered loaded onion rings - 5 jalapenos on top with a few bacon bits? * Ordered kids fish and chips for son - came out as chicken fingers. * Coleslaw that came with the "fish and chips" was rancid. Wife luckily took a bite and spit it out before my son did. I took a whiff of it. Beyond spoiled. I dont mind food tasting different for everyone, that's the fun of trying. But I draw the line at serving rotten food. Drinks are pretty good though! *Update I'll try again in a year. And no, didn't talk to the manager, this was takeout I ordered for the family. The atmosphere is nice and clean, comparable to your average pub. It's a little echoey, but that's typical of this type of setting. Our total (pre-tax, pre-tip) bill was $44.50. This was fair for our order of: * Hendrick's & tonic * Margarita (watermelon) * Nachos w/ grilled chicken * Finn's burger Adult Beverages: The Gin & Tonic wasn't too bad. The watermelon margarita was a bit strong and tart. Food: I felt the nachos were your average, pub-style nachos. Not too bad, but nothing great. I'd order them again if I were in the area and needed a quick snack. Jennie thought they were lackluster altogether and would not. We both felt the burger was OK, at best. The bun and toppings (LTPO) were all good. The meat was quite reminiscent of a lower-quality, frozen, store-bought patty. It was juicy, but there wasn't any flavor to it. The side of onion rings that came with the burger were quite delicious... the best part of the meal. They were thick cut in a tasty, thinner batter. Service: Our server was also the bartender. She was friendly and attentive. She also took our order, including the changes, from memory. This always impresses me. Overall, it's a decent little local place to stop in for a quick bite, a drink, and maybe shoot some pool, but we won't drive the hour again to make a special trip there. We're giving it 3/5 stars, as that's the average/median on the available scale.
