I can't say enough good things about this place. The owners are fantastic and an excellent selection of beer. The fish and chips are tasty and reasonably priced. i've tried everything on the menu, and I have friends that come from New England specifically just to eat the steak sandwich. If you're really into an incredible meal, go for the scramble. It's a cheeseburger with all the fixings inside out! This gets pretty busy, but it's worth it. They have free darts, and it truly feels like a British pub. The history of the ICE house is fascinating. Go there, spend a few hours, have some pints, and enjoy the ambience. Such a neat spot with a great backstory. My family and I absolutely love playing darts and we were searching for a fun venue to play with our teenage daughters. We found the spot and instantly fell in love. They have 10 dart boards, with a chalkboard cricket scoreboard, free darts, A pool table, ring hook and more. Children are welcome. We ordered the fish and chips with coleslaw and a cheeseburger. I definitely would've ordered more if we were hungry. It was a chilly day and a lot of people ordered their soup. This is the 3rd time in recent months that we have had lunch in the IH. On the two previous occasions the food and service left a great deal to be desired. This time the food ( cheeseburger and fries) were again mediocre at best. The meat tasted frankly of thawed reheated meat . Flavorless bland and only warm. The French fries were cold and soggy. What a beautiful SW Florida day! We decided to go for a ride and headed up to Punta Gorda. We didn't realize that today was the "Taste of Punta Gorda" and that the city was jammed. So we stopped at the Ice House Pub, a British Restaurant in an unassuming building off of 41. Upon entering we were a little confused. There is an outer covered portion of the restaurant where the windows were open, but also an inner darker pub, behind an etched sliding glass door. We opted to sit in the open air restaurant that is decorated with Beer and Wine Signage and hanging Flags. There is a beer dispenser fountain on one wall! I hope my pictures show the pub ambience of this restaurant. Fabiola was our exuberant server and brought my fiancé a Two Hearted IPA from Kalamazoo, Michigan. She made sure that the coffee was fresh and brought me a cup. They have wonderful fare like Cottage Pie and Bangers and Mash, but you know that I am always on a diet lol! I ordered the Chef Salad with its homemade Balsamic Dressing. My guy ordered the Club Wrap and it was served with a order of homemade Chips. Both were delicious and contained turkey, ham and cheese with fresh lettuce. The Chips were hot and fresh, deep fried and unsalted. I wish I could have ordered the Potato Leek Soup or the New England Chowder! They looked fabulous. We ventured into the inner sanctum and saw dark wooden tables and chairs, a large screen TV, bar and a wall of dart boards. What a fun place! Food is good but customer service is horrible. Last time we ate dinner there, we got so tired of waiting for someone (ANYONE, PLEASE) to bring us our bill, we finally just figured how much it would be and left the money on the table. More recently, my husband went in with a friend to have a couple beers, asked the guy behind the bar if they could order from him, and instead of taking their order or getting someone to take their order, he said they couldn't order from him because he's the manager. My friend ordered chicken fingers and asked for hot honey dipping sauce for her chicken and we were charged 50 Cent extra for that. When asked why did they charge we were told this isn't Popeyes we can't give out everything for free. What did you expect? The staff was so rude. I love leaving great feedback when it is due however this is not the case. I love my visits to Punta Gorda and was especially excited to visit the Ice House. Bartender came and sent multiple time without even acknowledging i was patiently waiting. Others came and sat at the bar as well but couldn't handle it and left. I finally gave up. We went to Ice House Pub not knowing what to expect. A friend of ours from Fort Myers, Florida told us we had to stop there. So...we went. As we walked in there was a beer tap wall waterfall creation which was so awesome to see all of the tap handles being used as a waterfall. They had a good selection of local craft beer on tap. We ordered a flight of beer as well as each ordering food. They made my friends some delicious and perfectly cooked medium burgers with provolone cheese melted on top. I had a Club wrap which was delicious as well. Inside of Ice House Pub they had a huge, long room of dart boards (for their dart league). They also have a pool table available. They had a nice atmosphere as well as a lot of awesome artwork displayed inside. The service was exceptional and the waiter was very helpful and kind to our group.
