The atmosphere was that of a diner with booths and tables, a nice longer table set for a group of almost 12. Specials on the board were of lunch and I was told by our pleasant waitress Amanda, we could choose breakfast or lunch on the weekend. I got to view both menus with fair prices and noted very full plates of specials coming out. One was liver and onions with mashed potatoes piled high. The older gentleman stated, "Now this is how liver and onions should be". The whole table was pleased with many eating that and the pork chop special. We chose to have breakfast and the pancakes were huge on the combo one. Both of us chose different potatoes and both were great. If anything the sausage patty was not to my liking. I like the actual patties. My husbands bacon was great. You get about 2 eggs with the specials. Sandy who is the owner is also the cook and training upcoming cooks. The couple was both there and the waitress staff was on point and actually friendly, unlike some places, this location felt like it could be our go to. Like at home, as some local bars feel, they welcome you. We will try sometime again if we can catch the hours as we just do not get going in the AM out of the house and I never want to feel a rush getting anywhere after 1pm when I know they are closing as most all places do in Lake Placid where we live. I'm a non-smoker but I tolerated it because I enjoyed the people and the other aspects of the atmosphere. After 15 years, as of January 1st, the Tap Room is now NON-SMOKING! My lungs are very happy! Management is taking steps to remove as much of the odor as they can. Other than this big news, this is your typical dive bar- * Cheap drinks * TouchTunes Jukebox * Pool tables and dart boards * Occasional live entertainment * No food other than packaged snacks Pro Tip- They have a back entrance with easy parking. It's not fancy but it's used more than the front door! Note that the parking lot is a disaster and needs to be repaved. Drive in slowly! Atmosphere- Like many dive bars, the crowd varies from day to night. The crowd is older and more sedate during the day and younger and a bit rowdier at night. The TouchTunes jukebox is extremely popular here with many folks using the app on their phones. Genres played are mostly Classic Rock and Country with a little Pop occasionally thrown in. The bar is very large and is a bit unusual as there are both low and high chairs in different sections. Note that many of the low chairs desperately need to be replaced so choose carefully where you sit your thirsty ass down! Adult Libations- The big joke is the Tap Room has no taps! That's right, no drafts here but plenty of mostly domestic bottles and a full liquor bar. Bartenders- This place has 5 bartenders plus an excellent manager that often tends bar. The bartender's range in age from 30s to 70s. They are generally decent with some more conversational than others.
