My toddler got a strawberry ice cream cone (Gifford's ice cream) while my husband and I ordered sandwiches. I got the grilled cheese (I forget which two cheeses but it was not just American or Cheddar) and he got the turkey pesto. Both were delicious but I wish I had ordered the pesto! Would 100% stop by again if in the area.

They also sell bottled Maine Root Beer, beer, wine, and vodka soda. There's also picnic table seating nearby. While taking a short afternoon walk near Shannon Pond, I stopped for a quick bite. The place had a short line, mainly people ordering ice cream. The guy at the window was sort of pleading with the customers not to order frappes since it was more work. When it was my turn, I ordered a Cranberry Chicken Walnut Wrap ($11) - Cape Cod style chicken salad with mixed greens wrapped in a white flour tortilla and served with Lays chips. My food was ready quickly and I was enjoying lunch at a picnic table near Shannon Pond. The wrap was filled with a dense tender moist chicken salad with berries wrapped with mixed greens and lettuce. I only ate half of the wrap since it was a good size and ate the other half when I got home.

I had the ribeye and it was thin and not very tender. Two of my group had the filet and they thought it was good, but my wife's special leg of lamb was uninspiring. The wine we had was great except we paid $145 for a bottle that retails for $35 and there were not a lot of other good choices. But I could live with it if the meal was awesome, instead of 50/50. It's a steak restaurant. I don't expect any bargains but when every steak is $45 or more, they need to deliver. You cannot be hit or miss for $150 per person not including the wine. The kitchen needs to step it up. I want this to be my favorite restaurant in the area but they are falling short of the mark. If they want to charge that much for a meal, then they have to nail it.

It truly feels like an olden New England house and barn and it's all quite charming. We had a reservation which was hard to get so be prepared to be flexible with when you go; otherwise, you will have to go to the pub side instead of the dining room. We arrived a bit early but had to wait 10-15 minutes past our reservation time. The hostess was kind enough to fetch our cocktail order so we could get to it! Enjoy some interesting cocktails, like the Skip and Go Naked which comes with an honorary pin! We had a lovely table and a great meal: the prime rib was cooked perfectly, the salmon was good and the haddock was good. Backing up a course, though, I must say that our entire table enjoyed the calamari with banana peppers so much! It was well flavored. The bread was... unique! And good. We also had a few types of oysters at the table and those were enjoyed. Dessert was great as we opted for the recommended Denver pudding. And an espresso martini!

A true Lakes Region gem -- don't let the location fool you!…read moreLemongrass may be tucked off the main road in Moultonborough, but it's an absolute classic in the area and one of those places we always make a point to visit when we're in New Hampshire. It's not flashy -- the décor is a bit dated -- but the food? Utterly fantastic. Owners Luncky and Wu clearly put their hearts into every dish, and it shows. The quality, care, and consistency here are rare to find. One of my personal favorites is the seared ahi tuna from the appetizer menu -- it's so good, I usually have to order two because one just isn't enough for our family! The fish of the day, often featuring haddock, is another highlight -- light, flavorful, and expertly prepared every time. My husband swears by the seafood curry, which is rich, fragrant, and packed with flavor. The service is just as impressive as the food. Their bartender, Cristine, is a local legend -- she's known my in-laws for decades and still remembers exactly how my mother-in-law likes her Blue Orchid cocktail. No need to order -- it just appears, perfectly made. That kind of personal touch is what makes Lemongrass feel so special. And don't skip dessert -- the white chocolate crème brûlée is a standout. You won't find that just anywhere, and it's absolutely worth saving room for. Lemongrass is more than a restaurant -- it's a beloved part of our Lakes Region tradition, and we can't imagine a trip to NH without it.
