The food was ok but I got very Ill maybe 20 mins after eating there. I had the California Roll, tempura vegetable and fried rice. It was very expensive for what you got. The servers are very nice, they take your order at the register and give you a number for your table then deliver the food to you you get your own drink at a self serve machine. The most mid food I have ever had in my life. I've tried to give this place numerous chances but no matter what I order, everything always ends up being bland, having a strange smell, or weird aftertaste. The sushi is decent but even that is hit or miss. It sucks because they have really nice customer service but you're better off spending your money elsewhere. read more

I was very excited to have a Japanese restaurant open up closer to where I live! It's a quick service/counter service restaurant with booths and tables in the room. It's in a small square footage space, so it can feel a bit claustrophobic when it's busy. It was very busy when we arrived (all tables & booths were full, several people in line to order and several people seated to the right waiting on their to-go orders), so we were a little worried about how long the wait for space and food would be. There were two screens of sushi options and one screen of hibachi options above the counter - so there is quite the sushi selection to choose from. I ordered the Philadelphia sushi roll (salmon, cucumber, and cream cheese) and Shrimp/Chicken/Steak Noodle bowl. My husband ordered the Dragon roll and Express Chicken Bowl. It took about 15-20 minutes to get our food (again, it was very busy at the time). The food arrives in plastic containers, so it's easy to take leftovers home. My entree's meats were a bit dry (particularly the beef), but still tasty (the chicken tasted best of the three meats I had). The noodles were good (they got my toddler's seal of approval, too), and the sushi was good (though, I prefer a little more smoked flavor in the salmon in Philly rolls). The white sauce was delicious, and I'm very prickly about the white/yum-yum/seafood sauces that Japanese places offer. Overall, it is definitely a place we will visit again when we want counter service Japanese food, and now we have a better idea of what to order for next time. read more

Food was good. Their "yum-yum" sauce is not so yum-yum. It's white and tasted heavily of mayo or something weird. The steak-and-shrimp only came with 5 kinda small shrimp but a good amount of steak. One of the shrimp still had the poo in it so I had to dig that out - yay. Overall I'd come back. Next time maybe just get the chicken and steak. We were surprised that the food came out in plastic to-go containers which end up in the trash. The drinks are in styrofoam cups, plastic utensils, plastic soup bowls and the sign on the napkin dispenser reminds you to be eco-friendly and only use as many napkins as you need. What?!?! That plastic I just put in the trash can will never biodegrade, ever! Whatever happened to paper? And no soup spoon for the soup, I mean it would take seven hours to eat that bowl of soup using that spoon that's provided. Instead of using fresh avocado it was more like a spread. Their yum yum sauce is called white sauce and it's in a prepackaged bag (had no flavor). Someone mentioned the workers in their review were like zombies. They hit the nail on the head. We got around to trying Ichiban Grill again for dinner last night, and it was a bit better than the last time we had stopped in. Got two shrimp & scallops entrees (to keep it simple), and they were both...okay. I feel like I have to grade Chinese/Japanese/Asian restaurants around here on a curve or I'd never give any of them a score over 2 stars. So, since the rice and veggies that came with the meals were quite good last night, I'm going to give 3 stars this time. The shrimp & scallops were edible, but just barely...they didn't taste bad, but didn't have much flavor and were the consistency of rubber. The portion sizes have gotten smaller since last we were in there, too, especially the amount of protein they put on top of the rice/veggies. The price is too high for the amount of food they give you (and would be even if it tasted better). It's kind of sad to say, but even considering all that, this place is still better than most other Asian places around here. So, 3 stars it is, but we won't be in a hurry to go back. read more

So disappointed. $40 bought a sub par microwave chicken dinner with no vegetables in the gooey friend rice complete with a packet of white sauce (?). What is that even for. The sushi that was ordered was served warm... That's right I said warm. We paid ten dollars for a roll that had masticated tuna inside it. The four nigiri were sliced so thin you could almost see through it to the rice underneath. We had to order our food at the counter and the reason two stars have been allotted is because the waitress seemed nice and the building was clean. However we did have to buss our own table so no tips were left. If you want sushi or hibachi save your time and go somewhere else. read more
