The food was raunchy. Soy sauce tasted like it was homemade and had a very burnt flavor. The sushi was fishy and old. Sad to know I can get better sushi in Kodiak Alaska, a remote place with no fresh fish market. read more

Best sushi in town, I moved here from the San Francisco area 4 months ago, and Ichiban is my go to for fresh and generous portions of sushi. Everyone who works there is very kind and akso hard workers. I recommned the lotus salmon roll. It's delicious.. read more

The worst customer service experience tonight EVER! Our waitress might as well have been a piece of chewed up chewing gum because that's literally how worthless her performance was. We had a party of 9 people, 6 adults, 3 kiddos, not only did she fail to introduce herself we had to help her set up our table, she didn't get us a high chair that we requested (we had to go get it which wasn't a big deal, just an inconvenience as we were trying to get everyone settled at our table) she didn't take my familles drink/meal order until we literally had to flag her down. When she did take our order she for whatever reason gave them to the kitchen staff separately, not even kidding, she went back and forth to place our orders. She brought out our appetizers at the same time of our entrees, didn't bother refilling drinks until again we had to flag her over to do so, she didn't ask how our meal was, then she disappears for a solid 20 minutes in the back kitchen area. We had been done eating that entire time, waiting to get the check, until she finally reappears, brings us our check and the icing on the cake was there was a gratuity charge of about $30 on the check. Like this chick really thinks she's getting a tip at all. Luckily the manager took off the gratuity charge after having to prove our case that she has poorly trained/untrained waiting staff. Debating whether we will ever dine here again, if so it will take out from now on. ONLY because the food was freaking delicious. read more

What a wonderful experience!! Our server was so awesome, wish I could remember her name! She helped us pick out our food and was so excited for us to try it. I was absolutely fabulous!! First time I ate at a sushi bar and ate raw fish. WOO! I wasn't disappointed. I ordered some beef Ramon for an appetizer, the crab legs were pretty good, or at least I think it was since I don't really eat seafood. My main course was a Philadelphia roll. Cream cheese was just really tasty. After the feeling/taste of eating raw fish, I grew to like the experience as a whole. The service was excellent too. Only thing I would recommend was the seating. Awesome place for Fresh Sushi in the Black Hills! I know its hard to say fresh in South Dakota but it is extremely good. The prices are a snag pricey but then again it is a quality product you aren't going to eat 3 meals a day. I take the kids and eat the Sushi Platter that is served on a huge Pirate ship ! read more

If you have any dietary restrictions, don't come here. I came with a friend because she wanted sushi and most places have great vegetarian options. This place does not and they are very unfriendly about it. They even put my veggie roll with hers which then spread fish eggs and eel sauce all over to mine. When I asked about it, the were extremely rude and continued to be rude the remainder of the dinner. The server did give a 10% discount for the inconvenience (an inconvenience of my inability to eat the majority of the food) and the forgot to take the discount off when ringing me up. Will not be returning here. There is much better food and entirely better service here in town. read more

We've been quite fond of sushi since our days in the Bay Area. Since moving to Rapid City we've visited Ichiban quite often and consistently enjoy their food. Their teriyahi bento boxes are always very good. The sukiyaki is outstanding. The tekka maki is always excellent, and the seared tuna has been the best we've ever had. The staff is always friendly and we've never left unhappy with the quality of the service or the food. read more

This is probably the worst service I have ever had in Rapid City, and I grew up here. I ordered food at 6:03 pm.... it is now 8:25 and I still do not have my food. I can understand if I had ordered a ton of food. This was for my two daughters, 8 & 11, and myself. By the time we get our food it will be bedtime. There was 8 people that came in, were seated, ate and left by this time. I talked to the hostess, who was rude and could have cared less about it taking so long. She said they overlooked the order, so... sorry. So... sorry? Really?? Then she says that they don't even have the egg rolls that we had ordered. I asked to talk to the manager, there was not one there. She said you can call on Monday and talk to the owner, nothing I can do about it. The food finally gets here, and she had told the delivery guy after I talked to her, that she didn't know what my problem was, but I was pissed for no reason. Horrible service!!!! read more

DO NOT ORDER THE RAMEN !! The ramen here is just a can of vegetable soup with nasty over cooked 20 cent pack of noodles thrown in. I don't think they have even seen a youtube video on how to make ramen much lass a recipe. The sushi is just one step above gas station sushi. read more

While traveling for business in South Dakota this place came recommended. Sushi was not the freshest- presentation was lackluster. Most disappointing was the service, which was rude to non existent. I wouldn't recommend coming here unless you enjoy being disappointed. read more

Delicious! I've eaten at at least 50 different sushi restaurants all over the USA and this one ranks in the top 3. The rolls were very creative. Try the coconut roll--very different, but amazing! Price was average: 6-11 bucks per roll. If I ever visit Rapid City again, I'll definitely be making a stop here. read more

for the longest time this was the only place to get decent sushi in rapid city. my only complaint is that their rolls are much too big, which makes eating it a bit awkward. the sukiyaki is some of the best i've ever tasted, and their udon and ramen dishes are my kids' favorites. be a little adventurous and try the dakota roll sometime...steak tips sushi sounds weird but is actually really quite good. read more
