I had blow dry service, and it was horrible. I don't know how a supposedly professional salon can mess up blowdrying. My hair was a complete mess after the service. It would have been much better if I just let my hair dry by itself. Please train your personnel. For ny other friend who came with me to the salon at the same time, Please also ask your personnel to be polite to clients- there was a slight miscommunication on hairdo that we pointed out- we were not even going to ask to change it as it was already done- but we got instant eye rolling and attitude! Go here every month to get my hair colored by Nick. Could not be better!!! When I first went my hair color was awful from a botched dye job that many stylists had tried to fix. Nick was the only one able to fix it and my color looks BEAUTIFUL! Louis cuts my hair and just does an amazing job. Cannot say how amazing they are! read more

Caution - they have a 48 hours cancellation policy. If you don't cancel 48 hours in advance, they will charge you half of the service. I was unaware so they said they would wave it but only this time. I've never heard of such a thing. I was cancelling an appointment 30 hours in advance. read more

Sent my friend in on tuesday to have a blend cut, single color and ombre done. 330 dollars later, her hair was orange, straight cut (if you want to call it that, it was chopped and uneven at an angle with chunks taken off the bottom) and frizzed out. What started out as a nice gesture to help build her confidence as she started a new job turned in to a nightmare as she called me crying at how badly her hair looked the next day. Another 350 dollars later, i had her hair fixed at a competing salon who couldnt believe the stylist let her leave with her hair like that. The 2.5 star reviews are spot on. During a visit to NY, my daughter who lives in Woodbury told me my Wal-mart boxed color job and my regular hair cut desperately needed updating. I reluctantly agreed to let her take me to Salon ID in Woodbury for a full hair makeover with Lori and Kevin. My greatest fear was that a stylist of her caliber would put me in an impossible haircut that I could not maintain...as so many stylists have done in the past. I try my hardest to do my hair everyday - but at 64 and with a bad shoulder, there is only so much styling I can do. In preparation for my appointment, I took 3 pages of tear outs from magazines and showed them to Lori. She quickly viewed the photos and confidently pointed out what was out of style, what was too complex and what would work for me. Most importantly she asked me, "How much time do you wish to spend styling your hair?" And with that - her creative talent began - and she gave me a style that I can blow out in 10 minutes flat. Kevin the colorist took a quick 45 minutes to color my hair with great detail. He carefully placed light color around my face and deeper color throughout for richness and dimension. He also took the time to give me the formula so that any salon in Texas (my home) can repeat the brilliant color he created. To be honest, after Lori and Kevin were done with my hair, I cried tears of joy. I was overwhelmed at how dramatic and beautiful they made me feel and look. Today my wife and daughter are at ID Salon, and today is my daughter's wedding. So my wife's 11am appointment, arranged months ago, confirmed multiple times, has been pushed back 45 minutes. She is sitting there while my daughter is being worked on, fuming. This day has been planned for a year, down to the last detail, I can't imagine who is sitting in that chair right now that rightfully belongs to my wife who is prioritized over the mother of the bride on one of the most important days of her life. Didn't have a good experience here. Way too expensive for what I got done to my hair. I showed my stylist (name was Bonnie) a picture of the style I wanted and she did the bare minimum and looked nothing like I wanted it. I also asked for 2 inches of a trim and she barely even trimmed it. Not to mention she wasn't too nice either. Usually you can deal with people who aren't nice if they at least do your hair well. She did neither. Gave her a $20 tip (I know, way too much for that underwhelming result) and could barely mumble a "thank you" to me. I felt like I was taken advantage of. Definitely wouldn't recommend this place or that stylist. read more

I've been looking for a new salon, a place that's a little better quality, modern, and professional. I'm really happy I went. It can be hard going to a new place and trusting people with your hair. I saw Paul and he was absolutely amazing! He took the time to listen to me, I never felt rushed, he helped me with what I envisioned, and I didn't feel like I was agreeing to do any coloring without understanding what he was going to do. He did an amazing job and it came out exactly the way he said it would. I felt like I was in good hands from the beginning. Looking around at everyone else, I could tell this was a really great place, knowledgeable, and care about giving their customers quality. Yes, it is more expensive depending on what you're getting, but if you want this kind of quality it was worth it. Can't wait to continue with them in the future. read more

I wasn't going to bother posting on yelp, but when I posted this on ID salon's Facebook yesterday, I got called a liar and the salon doubled down on blaming me for the disaster that was my wedding day, so here it is. I had the absolute worst experience with ID salon for bridal hair. I'll ignore the mess that was my trial(s) and focus on the wedding day itself, which was a disaster. My mom and I were supposed to both have 11am appointments and be at the venue at noon for photos. When we got there, ID said that they scheduled me for hair at 11 and makeup 11:45, and my mom for makeup 11 and hair 11:45. Huh? We were NEVER getting makeup through them. It was never once discussed. In fact, we had specifically told them from the beginning, which my stylist remembers, that we weren't interested in discussing it because we had our makeup artist settled before I was even engaged. They were extremely unapologetic. When my mom said she didn't want makeup, the lady at the desk sighed and said she had to call the makeup artist then because she was coming "ALL THE WAY from somewhere else on the island" and otherwise had no reason to come in. UMM, but if the makeup appt was supposed to be at 11, why wasn't she there at 11? She still had to drive across the island??? Despite asking ID multiple times about this, I have yet to receive an answer as to why, even if I HAD booked makeup, the lady would have been extremely late. And how was my mom supposed to get her makeup done and then her hair washed, wouldn't it mess up the makeup? Either way they were extremely rude. They said they still couldn't start her hair until 11:45 which would have made us very late for photos. No apology or attempt to find a solution, they just acted like this was all our fault. I was near tears until my stylist Ginger, who was great, figured something out so my mom could start like 11:25. After the chaos of the wedding, my mom called the salon a few days later to discuss it all, and they were even more rude. The lady proceeded to tell us makeup was in our contract (it absolutely was not, it was just a list of pricing for the bride and bridal party, who didn't even end up getting their hair done so clearly it was hardly a binding document) and that we're lucky they didn't force us to pay it. Screw that. Every other vendor had little blips but they were always so kind and apologetic about it. Who acts so rude to a bride and MOB on their wedding day? I'm blown away by the disorganization and disrespect. The rest of the day was flawless and every other vendor was patient, considerate, and helpful in every way. ID replied to my facebook review insisting they did nothing wrong, talking about our "canceled appointment for makeup" and how we "changed our minds." We all know that isn't what happened. Back in October the owner spent about 5 minutes cutting my hair before passing me off to someone else to blow out my hair. I ended up having to tip FOUR people because of this. When I got home I noticed she left a piece of hair that should have been snipped. If I'm spending around $250 for cut and color including tips, you better make sure my hair looks decent. Also I'm tired of the parking situation. I got there early and had to wait for a valet to dig out my car. A few weeks ago the colorist that I loved (Chrissy) went me a letter saying she was let go and is now at a competitor. I will be going there in a few weeks. read more

I have been going to ID salon for over 15 years. I recently moved to the city ( 3 years ago) and I still commute back for Nick and Luis. They are the ultimate professionals. Recently when I went to have grays covered at a local salon in NYC the colorist convinced me to get highlights. I knew it wasn't a smart move but feeling adventurous, I went ahead. I left that salon with a color I don't think exists, I texted Nick right away and he made time to fit me in to fix the disaster created by this other salon. Today was my first day at ID and all I can say is I think I found my new home . I was following one of the lead colorists Nick on insta and his work is amazing . I set up a consult with him a few weeks back and felt instantly connected . We spoke about what I was trying to achieve and Nick was confident he could make it happen . He recommended Louie to me for my cut and blow out . So today was the day .. I walked in and the front staff was so sweet . They had Amanda come and get me and I was off to nicks color station. As Nick was coloring we spoke and I felt like I could spend all day with him for me that's a big thing if your not talking I just can't with you ! Through the processing phase nice was right around to check in as my blonde was under way . I received an amazing treatment that bought my hair back to life and a glaze . Next I was off to Louie .. let me tell you Louie from the jump was my cup of tea . He tells it how it is and listens to your feelings which is major key when developing a new relationship . For the first time in a long time I felt like someone was cutting my hair who actually cared for the well being of it . I'm going back next week for Keratin with Louie . A bit of a skeptic, I made an appointment, and many years later, I am still going to ID! Everyone at ID is extremely kind, polite, professional, and respectful, both towards each other, and towards all clients. I have been a long time client of this salon and never really had much to complain about but here it goes. I had an appointment scheduled for today at 6:15PM with Simon who is my usual hair stylist. I was coming from work in Garden City and there was a ton of traffic with my GPS giving me the arrival time of 6:28PM. I figured I would call to make sure it was still ok that I come because I know Simon may have other appointments. I spoke to the receptionist named Genevieve (unsure if correct spelling) and explained my situation. She put me on hold for about a minute and said, "sorry for leaving you on hold for so long, yes you can still come and we will see you at 6:28." I said great and arrived at my stated time. I was greeted by Simon and Genevieve telling me that they couldn't take me. I told them I called and I even spoke to Genevieve on the phone. They told me that they couldn't keep the next client waiting and that I had to reschedule. I still don't understand why I was told to show up after they knew when I would arrive. Needless to say this was a major inconvenience for me and I will unfortunately not be returning ever again. I hope that Lori and the rest of the staff see this as a display of bad business and take it into consideration. read more

I would recommend this salon to anyone. Truly from the second you walk in, you are acknowledged with a smiling face awesome customer service and a positive, clean, and bright atmosphere. I am always so skeptical with going lighter especially since every time I ever do I end up hating. But this time I went in, I came in with dark brunette and still dye in my hair so I was still worried. I had alyssa one of the colorist there talk me through every step of the way. Not only was she welcoming and outgoing but she was extremely knowledgeable on what color would be best and so-fourth. She lifted my color to perfection. I've never been so satisfied with a light color ever until she did my hair. I didnt even have to show her a picture and she knew exactly what to do. I went back for a touch up and she did just as amazing as the first time. 10/10 service all around. read more

That is an outrageous price for just a haircut ( or TRIM which is what I got). I can't imagine their price for other services. I was in the area and went to this salon for the first time for a semi permanent glaze. I usually get this done to cover some grays. Everyone was very nice and the salon itself was fine. However, my hairdresser had me sit for 20 min with the glaze and after my hair was washed and dried, I still saw the gray hair. He explained that semi permanent doesn't usually cover gray hair and offered to do more permanent color. I have done semi-permanent coloring for years now and it always covers my grays. I guess I'm disappointed for having spent over $60 and will probably need to go back to my salon for a redo. read more

I went to the salon for color which was not a problem at all,but I foolishly decided to get a haircut on LI as opposed to my normal hairdresser in the city. I have a very short cut which was chopped to bits by a stylist who shall remain nameless. He "texturized" my hair but it left me with what I can only call the look of a plucked chicken....my NYC cutter referred to me as "chicken little"for the months that it took to grow the mess out....my normally thick hair was thin and my scalp in spots was visible. It was terrible......not quite sure what made him cut my hair in such a way, but I will never go back...... read more

I have been coming to ID Salon for years. Unfortunately some customers are more important than others. I called and made an appointment for curls, I have short hair. I flew in for my appointment. I arrived early and waited for 20 minutes, so they were running late on me. Once I sat in the chair & I showed a picture of what I wanted, I got a look. The stylist made a look & called over the receptionist and said I'm going to need help. I have short hair and it's relatively easy to curl my hair, but it needs to be set. She started to work on my hair, didn't bother to set it because that's what I usually do with my short/straight hair to get voluminous hair... she wanted to rush through my hair. Then she made me move, sat me in another chair and had the receptionist curl my hair. Then another stylist came to finish my hair but at that point, it was horribly done... it wasn't set... it was something my sister could have done at home. She moved me to make sure she got to her other client, who is some tv persona in on time. I'm no less than anyone else and if you don't have time then don't overbook. It's pretty disrespectful to do that to anyone. And then I was charged $80 for basic curls. I will dispute those charges my card. This isn't the first time I've felt like another number. No longer will come here but I doubt that matters to them. That's their attitude. read more
