On any given week I'll run 0-40+ miles and have been experiencing foot pain from early this year prior to moving here. I went in thinking I had nerve damage, a Morton neuroma since my symptoms were pointing in this direction. Only to several visits (xray that apparently didn't show anything and was completely pointless + MRI) and many payments later find out I have a laundry list of issues. According to my mri I have a stress fracture, a fully detached plantar plate and a torn plantar plate in my 2nd, 3rd and 4th metatarsal along w various other issues. I'll be lying to say I wasn't in complete disbelief when I found this out. I stood there staring at the screen like this can't possibly be my foot we are talking about. It's cute hearing people talk about their jogs but have you ran a marathon, and various other races for the past 6 months on a broken, fully ruptured foot, if not I don't give two f's! This coming from a woman who has been in heels nearly everyday of every week for months on end. No wonder my left knee where I had arthroscopic surgery has been all out of whack, I didn't know I'd been doing this on some bum foot! I seriously can't fathom these MRI results are accurate and surgery?!!!! I'm getting a second opinion like any human would but have looked further into this center since discovering this. Most every individual has been in a boot and had surgery here. I don't like the idea of feeling like I've had zero care to actually treat any of my symptoms just visit after visit scheduled to collect payment after payment. Zero taping techniques provided or anything useful in anyway that would help other than trying to be shoved into a boot and other costly options. I'd be weary of the "care" or lack there of. I did break my left foot years ago and I'm convinced they are reading results saying it's fractured, on a 5 year old fracture. If it is fractured in addition to fully detached as shown to me and torn in other areas well, then that's just peachy I suppose my adrenaline since being here has increased my tolerance to pain because it's pretty insane to think of what I've done on this foot the past 6 months. Get a second opinion if you're going to come here but I wouldn't suggest this center. It's felt all sorts of sketch from the jump. Boots, surgery, infection, being nickeled and dimed. It screams insurance fraud or some sort of scam into trying to rob you blind and a push into going under the knife. The second I head cutting through bone, my head nearly exploded. Are you effing serious right now?!? I'm going to run Dallas marathon on this before any type of surgery whatsoever. The way I see it, if something's fully detached- then I can't detach it any further. During the Emergency Room visit at Medical City Plano, they sent my swollen wrist X-Ray to Dr. Zivaljevic. Dr Z as they call him, identified a "dislocated peri lunate bone" in the wrist and scheduled surgery. I had a brace cast (behind the elbow to my fingers) for two weeks as the swelling went down, and moved to a full cast at the two week visit. His great team put the cast on in his office. Amazing process. Dr Z said I would have been luckier to have broken my wrist as bones heal. I scheduled regular visits and changed out the cast around 7 weeks as the muscle atrophy had taken over. Dr Z told me exactly what would happen to the letter over the course of the 3 months of visits. His physical therapy team had me doing finger stretches to keep the mobility going... Everything with a straight wrist. At the end of three months and half a dozen-ish office visits it was time to get the pins out. Another surgery, but this time a day visit so really quick. Now the real stretching and manipulation started, but keep in mind, the only thing holding my peri lunate in was one ligament and now scar tissue. I had to stop stretching so much as to not break up the scar tissue and I'm 70% mobility, which is exactly where he expected and wanted me to be. Strength is increasing and I have serviceable use of my wrist though I would avoid ladders if I were you! [And I had used lots of ladders in the past doing some really crazy things. Crazy stuff happens with ladders and YOU ARE NOT INVINCIBLE!!!!!] Dr Z was super knowledgeable and insightful. He patiently answered any and all questions I had each time. His staff was super friendly and professional even working with us and our medical sharing plan which caused some back and forth between all three parties, but we are grateful and appreciative of Lankford for working with us. I had calls from their office team reminding me of appointments and from Dr Z's nurse Kristen, who I even had the need to call her cell phone to ask a question. She was happy to help and advise. Dr Z said my outcome was fantastic in his experience. I had followed their instructions fairly well, only I didn't do as many reps stretching as they recommended. During a visit, I also asked about other Dr's in his office at Lankford Hand Surgery. From Dr Z's description, it sounds like they can handle any hand surgery even if intricate nerve reconnection work is necessary. If you have a hand surgery need, reach out to Dr Z and Lankford Hand Surgery. Dr Z and his team will take care of you. PS. Their downtown Dallas office can use some sprucing up, and they were in the process of doing some reorganizing and rearranging as I was "graduating."

I was scheduled for mallet finger surgery and had already pre-paid both the surgical center and the surgeon. Based on the office's urgency, I cancelled a non-refundable flight home cross county to visit an elderly parent with cognitive decline. Despite this, the office cancelled my surgery only hours before it was scheduled to take place. When I asked questions regarding my procedure, the office manager informed me that I was 'not a fit' for their practice, explicitly stating, 'your surgery is not significant enough to be bothering our staff with these questions'. While I eventually received a refund of my surgical fees and recouped the costs from the surgical center, the financial and emotional toll of the last-minute cancellation was significant. I subsequently sought care at the Orthopedics Institute of North Texas with Dr. Patel. Unlike the previous recommendation, Dr. Patel determined that surgery was not necessary given the angle of the injury. I have since successfully treated the injury with a splint and physical therapy with Inga Krips, and I am now almost fully healed. I HIGHLY recommend these two people. They are extremely competent professionals. Patients deserve clear communication and professional treatment, neither of which I found here
