We recently stopped here during a cross-country roadtrip and our pup was so thankful. First, we were surprised at how big this park was - our pup really had the chance to run and burn off some energy. It definitely needs a bit of TLC - the toys are a bit worn and there are ant hills everywhere. However, it is largely clean, there is water available, parking and seating for the human friends. My dog loves the park .I come from Vidor 3 to 4 times a week. Just wish there were places to sit under the trees to get out of the sun during the hot part of the day. Maybe put a bench under the tree at the front and at the back of the small dog park and a bench at the back right side of the big dog park where those trees are. And put covers on the benches up front by the gates. And maybe a splash pad or a pool for dogs that like to play in the water. Thank you. read more

My sister-in-law went to the Great Smoky Mountains and all I got was her crazy dog. Well, we got her mutt for a week, so during a lunch break, the Ida Reed Dog Park is where I took him. This dog park is pretty long, especially for small dogs. Mostly, it's a lot of lawn for them to run around. Several structures for them to play on or around. It looks like city policy is "set it up and let it be", which resulted in spider webs on one tube, which the doggie did not want to go into. Picnic table where you can sit and watch the action. One thing I appreciated is that there are two dog parks, one for big dogs and one for small dogs. Because Rottweilers can be awfully rough on Daschunds, even though they don't try to. Small parking lot. Next to the freeway, so it's never quiet. Overall, Ida Reed has a pretty good setup if dog parks are Spot's thing or if you want to socialize Spot with Fido, Rover, and Dingo. read more

This place could use ALOT OF TLC ! The grass needs mowing and the parks seating needs updated and comfortable place for people to hide from the hot sun . It could also use pool for the animals to enjoy when they are feeling hot the water fountain needs to be updated cause it doesn't work and the fence door is broken. Also lighting would be great for those who like to come out at night . read more

Warning: the address on yelp map is incorrect. The park is on Louisiana and 7th street. There is a lot of construction on seventh street currently, so take 9th street to get there. There are parking spots in front of the park, and along Louisiana street. The park feels very safe during the day, but the neighborhood might not be as safe at night. The park itself is great. Huge area for the dogs to run, water fountains, training courses etc. The grass is well kept, although some irresponsible owners don't pick up after their dogs so you need to be careful of poop! Great separation of small and big dogs, so I don't feel guilty for bringing our big German Shepard mix to play with other dogs. Some benches to sit and relax on, though very little in the way of shade so wear a hat and sunglasses. read more

Most of the dog owners are nice, but some are just ignorant. Dogs will be dogs, some play soft and some play tough, if you're asked to put your dogs toys or ball up, just do it. It's common courtesy. Some people have big puppies, puppies don't understand that when someone is playing fetch they can't play too, don't be an asshole. Or a bitch. read more

Very nice dog park! The address is Louisiana and N. 7th Street. The entrance with some parking space is on Louisiana. The only negative is the water fountain with the dog bowl on the bottom was not working correctly. We search out parks while traveling and this was very nice! read more

Great, fenced in, safe area for your dog to play off leash. There is a TON of room for them to run around. Two separate areas - one for dogs under 30 lbs and one for dogs over 30 lbs, so the Great Danes aren't stepping on the Teacup Chihuahuas. Water fountains for both you and your dog are available, but bring toys, frisbees, tennis balls, etc. Lacking some shade, but recently the parks department has been working on the landscaping and adding trees. Come expecting to be loved on by most of the dogs (*wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty*) and spend some quality time with your pooch. There is a picnic table outside the fenced area if you would like to picnic without being begged for food. Park area that is not fenced also includes a playground and basketball court (in good shape) and a tennis court that needs a little work. If you want your dog to socialize, be there on a sunny weekend or after work. You can park along Louisiana Ave or in the parking lot near 7th street. read more

Neighborhood is NOT unsafe, in fact most people walk there from their homes. Park does border Interstate 10 and nearby convenience store is unsightly. Black male youth (oh my!!) meet there to play basketball, but the Dog Park patrons are mostly residents of Old Town. A great place, typical of Beaumont's easy-going, inclusive environment. read more

I find it hard to believe anyone would rate this 4 or 5 stars unless they have never gone to a true dog park (geared towards dogs). This is a very small section of chain link fence, throw in some grass, awful neighborhood, worst dog park I've ever seen. I can only imagine it useful for very small dogs who don't need much room read more

I'm glad there is a place for my dog to run!! I don't care about the fancy stuff, just a large fenced area and this worked. It would have gotten 5 stars from me if the fountain in the small dog area worked and if there weren't two older men across the street watching me (thankfully another dog owner was there). read more

I'm glad Beaumont is trying to be more progressive by creating a dog park. I've visited fabulous dog parks in Houston, but it's not fair to compare Ida Reed to them so I won't. It's certainly big enough for dogs to run, socialize, and play. I have seen vagrants hanging around the playground/ picnic table area but they had zero interest in what I was doing. It's a nice park and I hope that with enough use it inspires Beaumont to build more. read more
