Great meat selection. Always the best meal when I purchase from them. The quality of the meat is unmatched. The prime rib never disappoints.

I've written a lot of reviews for George ever since I found him around 9-10 years ago. I hadn't…read morebought from him in a while, but have been wanting to. In February, I reached out about 1/4 of a cow and while I didn't directly buy from him he pointed me to Crosby Cattle Co. (based out of Fernley, but looks like he is opening his own shop in Reno soon!). George felt this rancher had amazing meat and since he was closer to me than George I utilized him. The owner, Alec, was easy to work with and delivered my 1/4 of cow for free. I haven't had to buy beef at the grocery store since February and we still have, about 2/3s of the meat left. The beef is so good! George was very interested in my opinion. Alec has a 100% satisfaction, basically if I wasn't extremely happy, he would fix it, but so far so good. Recently saw George had 1/2 a pork share available, so I reached out and bought that. Back in the day George came to Reno area a lot and so he would deliver it, but he didn't have any trips planned and so I made the drive to Quincy to his shop to pick up. It wasn't bad at all. It was so nice to talk to George, on social media he will answer any and all questions you have about the slaughtering process, after death, storage, whatever you want. When I picked up the pork I asked how he sells meat when he doesn't own the animals himself. He said when they go to farms, they look at how the animal (pig, cow, lamb etc) is raised, where it lives, the food it gets and makes decisions on buying that way so you know you're getting the best of the best when you buy from him. George is a soft spoken, gentle guy, I was impressed he even remember my old dog when he used to drop off my delivers from 8 years ago. I know its not feasible for a lot of people, but buying local, buying more humanely raised animals for meat, knowing when it was killed it wasn't trucked miles and stressed out, understanding where our food comes from a bit more, is important to me. George posts the animals he kills on his social media and people seem to get upset, but the fact is, its good to remember that that rib eye steak, was an animal once and doesn't just magically create itself onto the styrofoam platter at the grocery store. One of my goals over the last few years is being more mindful of my food, eating less meat, but more quality meat when I do eat it. If you're interested at all, George knows ranches, even if you don't buy from him he can point you in the right direction, he will answer all questions, and also he has seriously AMAZING price points. If you can swing it, I promise you won't be disappointed. Lastly, I did a side by side blind taste test with my pork from George and pork chop from Costco, the pork chop from George won, obviously, but also it easy to see how much more moist and flavorful that pork was to the costco pork chop. Its hard to post links here so if interested, dm me and I'll point you in the right direction to follow and contact him. I believe his website is linked though and should take you to his social medias where he posts the meat he has regularly.

While visiting Reno, I found this butcher shop/restaurant on another social media platform…read more Everything they had to eat looked good and they highly recommended it. So I decided to give it a try. My husband and I were there for lunch. Upon walking into the store it is just so light and bright and open. The presentation of meats and seafood are displayed so beautifully. The menu for fresh food cooked right off the grill was right next to the cash register. My husband went with the bison, barbecue burger, and a side of fries, and I had the original burger with my choice of cheeses. Everything was prepared and served hot and fresh! We were offered ranch to go with our fries. I had a house made thousands island type sauce (but way better) to go on my cheeseburger. It was delicious. I asked one of the employees (Sarah) what was in it. She was very pleasant to talk to and very knowledgeable about all of their house made sauces. I told her that I loved the garlic in the Thousands island style sauce so she gave me a sample of their garlic aioli sauce! If you are a garlicholic like me, this is a must try!! Chefs kiss, for sure! I cannot recommend this location enough! When in Reno, it's a must try! If you go, tell Sarah her perimenopause, Indiana, garlic loving friend said hello!

(Their Classic in my photo is probably their least impressive looking burger.) I ordered medium rare like always at a high-quality joint but I accidentally got someone's medium-well, and after tasting both, I actually preferred the the medium-well as the grind on the rare part of the medium-rare was a little mushier than I'm used to. Probably because most places you order a medium-rare you actually get a medium. Not here. I'd go medium on a return visit. I like they don't overseason the burger with too much salt like a lot of other places. Eaters with palates desensitized to salt due to a lot of fast food/burger eating may find the need to add salt to satisfy their salt craving. The burger sauce is also served on the side and is a bit milder, and more homemade tasting compared to your average burger sauces. This is great because the meat is so good you really don't want to overshadow it with salty seasoning and overpowering sauces. If you're going to dump a bunch of salt and sauce on it, just go to In-n-Out. They also have sandwiches, tenders and chili. If you think about it, a butcher shop deciding to serve cooked food is taking a risk. If the food isn't that great it can affect their meat business. The shop atmosphere is very upscale with high prices to match it like the rest of Rancharra Village. Very limited indoor bar dining and some tables outside. Not sure if the really high prices for the meats and seafoods in the case are worth it, but the saying "you get what you pay for" at least applies to the burgers here. My only suggestion is take a sharpie and scribble the cook temp (medium, medium-rare, etc) on the paper in the burger basket so groups don't get their burgers mixed up. They verbally pointed it out but it's easy to forget by the time you get back to your table with 3, 4, or 6 burgers. Fry basket is a great value, easily enough for 2 people and probably some of the best thick cut fries I've ever tasted with sort of a very light seasoned crispy panko outer texture to them. Updated Reno Burger Rankings primarily on quality/taste but also value is factored in but to a lesser degree: #1 Armandos #2 Royce #3 Beefy's tied with The Parlor #4 Archies Giant #5 Juicy's

If you're a die hard carnivore (like myself) and happen to be a local or a visitor from out of town…read moreand are in the greater Reno-Sparks metropolitan area, do yourself and make a stop to "Blue Ribbon Meat & Butcher Shop". Established in 1946 during the post-WWII/baby boomer era, this wildly popular butcher shop is one of the top picks for quality meats in Northern Nevada. Located directly on Prater Way and adjacent to 15th Ave in Sparks, they are nestled in between a 7-11 and Scoopers Drive-In. Parking is quite easy to find as they have a dedicated lot directly outside of the business. Furthermore, they have a very cool mural that showcases a pig, chicken, and cow which are all the types of meats this place sells. I came here during the afternoon on Saturday 6/20/2026 at around 4:15pm. Keep in mind that they are closed for business on Sunday/Monday but are open Tuesday through Saturday from 9am-6pm. Upon entry, there were quite a few customers but just about everyone was being serviced in a timely manner. Before we get to the meat, this place has a ton of seasonings, dry rubs, marinades, sauces, and a small amount of produce. Additionally, they also have a pre-packaged refrigerated & freezer section where you can purchase quantities of their meats/seafood as well as cold cuts and bottled beverages. However, the real winner is there display case as they offer a ton of beef items. This includes short ribs, chuck wagon, carne asada, tri-tip, and all very popular steaks. They carry a nice variety of pork, lamb, elk, venison, chicken, liver, veal, bacon, and sausage. Since I came prepared with an Igloo cooler (and still had a 2-hour drive home), I purchased their sirloin steak, ribeye steak, bacon burgers, and Hawaiian sausage links. Since I already cooked the sausage (the following day) for breakfast and sirloin steak for dinner, I will say that this place absolutely hits the spot and is arguably much better than Safeway, Raley's, & Save Mart. There's a reason why "Blue Ribbon Meat & Butcher Shop" has been around since the mid-1940s and that's because they are a quality old school butcher shop with very competitive prices (even with the huge price hikes in beef), excellent customer service, and delicious mouth-watering meats. The gentleman that helped me was very polite while their inventory display case was filled to capacity; even during the late afternoon on a Saturday. So if you're into family owned-and-operated butchers shops like myself, you can't go wrong checking this place out. With that said and done, I am giving this place a perfect five stars.

I made Beef Wellington at home for the first time and the tenderloin at Blue Ribbon was delicious at a decent price. There are also different selections of rub spices and some produce so you don't need to go to the grocery store for 1 or 2 things. The staff are always welcoming and quick to assist anyone for a selection or answer questions. I've become a reoccurring buyer and urge everyone to check out this local butcher shop!

Unfortunately, we just couldn't find anything that tickled our fancy and opted to go find a restaurant instead. We fully understand that a smaller footprint supermarket cannot carry everything a larger store can. The customer base can't support it and it simply wouldn't be profitable. However, there is no excuse that staffing in the deli department can't spend two minutes a hour to stir the prepared salads. Nothing is less appealing than when the outer layer forms a "crust" giving the impression that the food is not "fresh". You can easily see a difference in texture and color between the portion of the salad that has not been touched compared to the portion of the salad that has been served from. Pass.

This entire store is run by thieves, liars, and completely incompetent staff who engage in predatory retail practices. On Friday, I placed an online grocery order, but an unexpected medical emergency forced me to rush a neighbor to a hospital in Reno. I repeatedly attempted to call the store to explain the situation, but the staff completely ignored the ringing phones. Instead of holding the items or canceling, your employees flagrantly falsified store records at 4:00 PM by marking my order as "Picked Up." They actively stole money from my bank account, pushing an unauthorized charge to my debit card for goods that never left the building. The utter lack of customer support continued the following morning when I called again, only to be left rotting on hold for 30 agonizing minutes without a single person answering. It ultimately forced me to waste an hour of my weekend navigating an online corporate chat just to claw back the refund that this local staff essentially embezzled. To make matters worse, after finally getting my money back, I made the mistake of reordering my groceries. The staff completely butchered the second order, proving their incompetence is entirely intentional. They systematically withheld items from multiple "Buy One, Get One" promotions, deliberately short-changing me by failing to include the free items I was contractually owed. This isn't a string of simple mistakes; it is a corrupt operation with zero customer support. Save your sanity, your time, and your hard-earned money. Avoid this garbage dump at all costs!
