Armando and Sons butcher shop has some amazing food! My husband and I got lunch today, and had a great experience. I had the huntsman chili, he had the classic burger. We will most definitely be back. The burger in particular was what impressed us both. The quality of the meat was impeccable, delicious flavor, with a nice crispy sear. He let me sneak a bite, and the patty just melts in your mouth. I have no complaints or changes I would make to the burger. The service was so friendly and fast! They were very helpful in choosing what to order! The bison comes from their ranch in Wyoming, the owners brother runs the ranch! The elk comes from a group of family farms they have been doing business with for over 40 years in New Zealand. (Wow!) And the in house ground beef is mostly Niman ranch and Creekstone farms. I don't think you will find a better burger in Reno! We sat inside on their bar stool seating, but there's lots of other seating available outside! The inside has a very modern and elegant feel! Another fantastic visit to Armando & Sons for lunch! For a non-smash burger in a fast-casual environment, this is your place! I ordered a BBQ burger at the counter and added an extra patty as well as some chicken tenders and fries for the kids. Service was quick and friendly. I've never had an issue with Armando's service! Truly- the quality of the food here can't be beat. Freshly ground meat, selection between beef, elk, and bison, and high-quality ingredients all the way down to the produce. Sometimes a thick, juicy burger is just what you want. You won't find a puny smashed patty here. Only delicious, perfectly cooked, thick patties. The extra $6 to make it a double is totally worth it. I was even impressed by the fries! Super crispy and well seasoned. The chicken tenders were not overcooked, as you find at many places. We don't get to visit this shop too often, but it looks like the last time it was there was two years ago. And it was actually two years of the date because we were there for Mother's Day as well. We decided to make it a day of visiting different restaurants so we decided to split a couple burgers and some fries. The burgers turned out to be amazing and my kids love them and my wife loved hers. There was four of us that split two burgers, which was honestly more than enough for us because we were going from a place to place. We did have a small issue and a very comical issue that we accidentally ordered four baskets of fries rather than four sides of fries. No I'm not sure if this was our fault or the gentleman upfront hitting the wrong button. But after speaking with the owner, Chris, he took care of it for us. Best burger I have had in a very long time. Easy 5 stars. All their beef comes from their own family farm. They got a really good sear on the patty, which is a solid 1/2 lb. Stopped by Armando & Sons to pick up some good quality meat but was also hungry so I treated myself with a burger from the grill. Overall the burger was good. Flavorful and juicy but quite a bit greasy which made me feel a little queasy but that won't deter me from coming back again. I know the food here is super yummy and I can rely on this place to give me something worth it! Also love that I can order my food but go next door and grab a drink and eat it there. It's a fun experience to see my food get passed through a hole in the wall! One of the reasons I like this place is how nice everyone is. Everyone that I have met has been a treat to talk to and really want to help you get what you need. Whether that's from the butcher shop or ordering food, they'll help direct you to what you want. I stopped into Armando & Sons in Reno just before the lunch rush. As a butcher shop, the place is impressive. They offer a wide variety of high-quality meats and the seafood case looks fresh and well stocked. You can tell they take pride in what they sell. We kept hearing the buzz about their burgers, so we decided to give them a try. We both ordered the double bacon burger. For anyone thinking about getting a double, just know these things are huge. We easily could have shared or stuck with a single, because we both ended up taking leftovers home. We added a basket of fries, which were crisp, salty and cooked well. The burger itself, though, didn't quite live up to the hype for me. It was fresh, no question, but for $27 a burger I expected a little more flavor. The patty felt under-seasoned. Even just a bit of salt or pepper would have gone a long way. The side sauce, which I think was a pickle-based sauce, was interesting but didn't add enough punch to elevate the burger. The smoky bacon was good, but overall the whole thing needed more depth. For a quick lunch that totaled around $80 for two burgers and fries, I was hoping for that "wow" factor everyone talks about. The quality is there, but the flavor missed the mark for me. I'd still go back to try other cuts from the butcher counter, but the burger wasn't the standout I expected. read more

A friend recommended we stop at Armando & Sons because she knew them from when they worked in Incline Village. We were in the area and decided to stop for dinner. It exceeded our expectations! Here's what we noticed: - There's a pretty broad menu, with both burgers and other types of fare. We asked for some information about how the regular beef burger differed from the bison burger and versus the elk burger and, unfortunately, the woman working the counter didn't know anything. Luckily one of the other store employees was able to fill us in. - My wife and I ordered to split between us the elk Black and Bleu burger, a side order of fries, and the Reuben sandwich on marbleized rye bread. The burger tasted amazing, the fries were extra crispy, just as we requested, and the Reuben was super tasty. Being associated with a butcher shop really made the meat high-quality. - We sat outside at one of the tables in front of the shop and enjoyed the nice fall atmosphere. I've been in this area quite a few times to Perenn Bakery for lunch and I can't believe I missed this place, it's literally next door but let me tell ya... I've made up for it. I just love that vibe here. They have many items to choose here in their menu but I go strictly for their burgers... ok fine, I go for those crispy, thick, cooked to perfection fries too! So far I've had their prime rib, house ground, elk, and the bison burger and the elk is my favorite. I think I like it with their smoked mozz. I had the bison with the smoked mozz today and it was absolutely divine. They've got plenty of "liquids" here to wash down your burger or whatever you choose to order, such as a variety of wines, beer, sparking water and Mexican Coke! So we have enjoyed this butcher shop for years. Purchased foods, meats, and many holiday meats to prepare for family and friends; and also had a few delicious burgers made there along the way. However, tonight my burger was improperly prepared, and I was told I was to blame. I ordered No raw onion and No tomato, as I have a sensitivity to acid, and have even had major surgery for it. A food sensitivity. When my burger came with these items on it, and I made notice that I didn't order it that way, and couldn't eat those items, the female chef cooking the burgers thrust the ticket in my face and nastily said, 'That is the way it was ordered!!'. Not, 'hey sorry, let me fix that', or, 'maybe a mistake in the ordering'. It WAS a mistake in the way it was ordered; by the guy who took my order. The black and bleu burger is SO good! The texture of the onions in the burger makes it so delicious and juicy, and mixes so well with the sauce. This is a butcher shop that also serves burgers. From the butcher shop side...it's a great little upscale store that offers a wide variety of meat, fish, poultry and more. The staff are really friendly too. The only downside is the price...I know you have to pay for the great quality that you will be getting but I am sure covering the Rancharra lease isn't cheap either. From the burger side, I get the BBQ Bison burger with grilled onions & cheese and it is amazing. The fries are hot and plentiful and they used to offer a variety spice options but took that off the menu. The guy helping was super nice and still offered me the spice options when I asked what happened to them? This is my go-to spot in Reno for a burger and hanging out in the Rancharra plaza. This is a welcome respite from the fast food and fast casual dining establishments in the area. We ordered prime rib burgers, one of their specials of the day, and fries. Both the burger and fries were good-sized portions that would easily satisfy a seemingly bottomless-stomach pit teenage kid. The fries were thick-cut and the burger was a juicy medium-cooked slab of a patty. Order your food inside and browse the fine foods and other merchandise for sale while you wait, or sit at one of the many tables outside and listen for your order to be called at their walk-up window. We lucked out and found the barstools available on the small counter space they have near the front door. We watched hungrily as they prepared burger after burger until ours were done. what a gem armando & sons butcher shop is! this is such a cute shopping area, and totally unlike anything in the reno area! we tried the prime rib chopped burger and the reuben. i will dream about that reuben lonnnng after our visit. the kraut on there was the perfect pairing to the corned beef. the corned beef had SO much flavor and was making my mouth water. we felt like the prime rib chopped burger wasn't as flavorful as we hoped it would be, but the creamy dill horseradish that it comes with is AMAZING. we also got a basket of fries and would highly recommend the side of fries. this was SO many fries the service was amazing. friendliest & most helpful staff. the inside is adorable. the perfect variety of gifts for that special foodie in your life or if you want a picnic to go. overall such a great experience at armando & sons butcher shop. can't wait to be back! read more

The selection of food on the grill menu is great and everything sounds delicious. We all loved our burgers and the basket of fries was massive. More than enough for 4. Prices were about what i expected for top quality ingredients. The only negatives (and they are minor) was that the burgers were a bit overcooked. Almost well done. And it took a long time to get our food. There was only one guy there and it was sorta busy so i'm not complaining. Just a note. A top quality burger on a sunny afternoon in the courtyard.
