They know their stuff, they aren't pushy, and the store itself has WAY more items than you might think. They have a lot of things I usually would order online because you wouldn't expect to find them locally. Suppressor mounts and hubs, flashlight tape switches, good, high end NVGs, steel targets, and they personally test a huge majority of the gear they sell - and then put up well made YouTube videos with the results. If you've ever bought an NFA item from a shop and then had them sit on your approval for days or weeks... another sigh of relief with ECG. From what I can tell, they strive to get notifications out to customers the day they get the approvals from the ATF. No games like I've played with a lot of other NFA shops over the last 14 years. Overall, if you've never been in - you should support these guys.

There's really not much else to do in this area so I figured I might as well attend this workshop. Malia, the class coordinator, was flexible about letting me register at literally the last minute to take this class with my friends. I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised at how well the class was designed. The brief lecture was far from boring, the instructor, Chris was very thorough and seemed to be an expert on the subject matter. Don't get me wrong - its a long course - almost 4 and a half hours long - but Chris is a very efficient, patient and thorough instructor. I honestly did not realize how quickly time passed because the material content and his presentation/delivery techniques made the material easy to grasp and understand. I especially liked how he tailored his content to both audiences who have been around and using guns all their lives - to those with limited exposure to them - myself being in the latter group. What I really appreciate about Chris's class is how much emphasis he places on safety and awareness - I think that alone shows the level of respect Chris has for an subject area that has drawn countless debates. I highly recommend taking this course. Even if it may not be legal (yet) to carry in your state, the permit you do end up getting is valid in nearly half the US. In addition, the level of knowledge you take away from this class alone, gives you more awareness and respect for gun use/safety.

Now keep in mind this was the OLD ownership, and as I walked through the front door the room went from loud, jovial talking, to dead silence. All eyes were on me as I moved about the store, checking it out. No one said a word to me; no greeting, no one asked if they could help me find something. NOTHING! The atmosphere seemed almost hostile, like I didn't belong in the store so I quickly left and never went back. Several months later I was looking through a real estate magazine and saw Wrenco was for sale and for a split second I thought about buying the business. Again, for a split second. Then, several more months later, I saw Wrenco was under new ownership. This could be a good thing, I thought, so I went in to the store to look around again. When I entered the store this young guy approached me, extended his hand and told me his name is Brandon, the new owner. He actually thanked me for coming in to the store, and asked if I need help finding anything. WOW! What a difference from my first experience! I recently purchased a new rifle I had been wanting for a very long time, a Remington 700 Sendero SF ll in 7mm Rem. Mag. and Grant handled the sales transaction and background check which, with my CCW, took maybe 10 minutes. The entire staff at Wrenco Arms are very knowledgeable and friendly. I especially like the fact that they remember my name. It may not seen like much to some people, but to me it means they appreciate my business. Does Wrenco Arms have the cheapest prices on everything they sell? Probably not. However, their prices are more than fair, and, there is much to be said for the exceptional level of customer service they offer. And personally, I find it very difficult to place a price on someone else's knowledge, experience, and expertise. The biggest issues have been consistently poor customer service, an unwelcoming atmosphere and prices that are often higher than nearby competitors. One major concern that has always bothered me is hearing employees gossip and make petty disparaging comments regarding local customers and other businesses. It's unprofessional and doesn't inspire confidence, trust or reflect good character. I've heard similar stories from others over the years. You can find anything online for less these days and half the appeal of a local gun shop is building relationships and enjoying the experience but I've never found that here. This has been consistent with the old and new ownership- I've been treated with more courtesy at Walmart. The best way I can describe this shop's vibe is this: it's basically a high school locker room- except it's full of all the people that nobody likes and who probably don't like you. Even firearm and NFA transfers (which should be straightforward) have been unpleasant enough here that I have absolutely no reason to walk in there. Over time, most of the people we know have quit doing business there for one reason or another, myself now included. There are plenty of decent firearms retailers in North Idaho staffed by people who treat you like they appreciate your business and your time.

He is very knowledgeable about firearms. I left my rifle there for about 10 days, and he went through it, repairing the rear peep sight, and the magazine feeding tube (which was bent, and non functional). Now the rifle works and looks great - keeping the old patina intact! Jerry got the work done on time - and at a reasonable price for the time he spent on it.
