Last summer, my fiancée Linda and I decided to look ahead to our about-to-grow family and wanted to do extensive renovations on our 1939 Arlington home. We had a pretty set idea of what we envisioned and some experience with remodeling. The key was to find a company that would / could listen, share and be responsive to our ideas; maintain the renovations in a manner that reflected the history of the house - and at a price we could afford. After too many experiences with shiny drawings and lunches in the showroom, Ideal Construction and Remodeling was suggested to us and we reached out. What we found was a family owned company that would focus on us as the customer, and were only interested in finding a solution to our dreams. We met with one of the sons, Zade Jarrar, the Project Manager. Through our conversations we developed a trust, and confidence in their ability to finish the project. We were very pleased with their proposal price, definitely fit our budget and allowed us to be comfortable with the construction and allowed us to add some things we were only hoping to have. Zade was very responsive, always available, frequently on site and "hands on" with all aspects. One of the reasons Ideal Construction can deliver for the proposal price is the excellent group of subcontractors they utilize. Rather then have a large staff needing constant support they have vetted a small number of experienced workmen who come into your home anxious to please. They will discuss what they are doing and work to provide what you tell them you envision, all with Zade's constant oversight. One thing we noticed was they all enjoyed their projects with Ideal Construction. The only problem encountered, and one we grew to understand, was the occasional delay due to problems the subcontractor may experienced on another job that delayed their starting on ours. Any change in schedule this caused was always minor and, again, allowed us do the project within the proposed budget and completed near the proposed date. We would recommend Ideal Construction to any person who cares about quality, execution, budget and commitment. Jason and Zade did a great job for my addition a few years ago, adding about 1400 sq ft, incl. a 2nd fl above my garage. I obtained about 6 estimates. Their pricing was very reasonable (but not the cheapest) and work quality above average. This is not to say there weren't ups and downs. But, what sets them apart is their honesty and dedication. When the tarp covering the exposed garage (no roof yet) caved in from a downpour at night, Jason and Zade came over personally and helped secure the situation (Jason was still wearing his suit from an event he was attending). When the electrical was being done, they realized they did not include the price for over 15 recessed lights. They only charged me for their cost for the materials (no extra labor costs). When something went wrong, they took responsibility and worked it out with me. Even after the project was finished, they stayed committed to their dedication for a happy customer. When there was a leak from the roof, damaging ceilings and drywall, they fixed everything at no cost. When the heat pump's condensate wasn't draining properly and caused ceiling and drywall damage, they fixed everything at no cost. Earlier this year, shingles came down from the roof. They had their roofer come check and repaired whatever needed repairing - again at no cost. There was one floor piece that was completely different than the rest of the floor. It bothered me, but I didn't raise any issue until 3 years later. They had their flooring guy replace it at no cost. Completely trustworthy guys. read more

Ideal Construction and Remodeling did a phenomenal job on the updating and renovation of our outdoor living area! From start to finish we were impressed with the company's superior workmanship, timeline, budget control and excellent communication. Zade and his crew replaced a 26 ft supporting beam and installed 5 new wrapped posts on new footings as well as a new ceiling and outdoor fan under an existing addition. His entire team were highly skilled, hard-working, dependable and cleaned up the work space very thoroughly every day. Zade is a true professional, very knowledgeable, easy to work with and extremely organized. He is easy to reach, answered all our questions, offered helpful suggestions and kept us informed and updated. We really appreciated him being on site for major milestones, quality control and for checking in on progress throughout the project. He also was open to do additional work by leveling our dining room floor and installing extra fans in our house. The finished product is safe, functional and looks fantastic! These guys are great! Ideal Construction is my first call whenever I need something done in our house, and I happily recommend them to friends, my family, and our neighbors! I haven't found anything yet that they can't handle - electrical, plumbing, interior or exterior, they can do it all. Everyone I have worked with is professional and works hard to achieve the highest standards while also ensuring that our expectations are met, and frequently exceeded. I'm not the best customer either: I do not know the ins and outs of home repair and remodeling and often have many questions. They don't mind taking the time to make sure I understand the details, any options, and potential risks. The staff is friendly, professional, and work hard to make sure that we, the customer, are happy with the results! They have worked on large and small projects for us, from turning a poorly enclosed back room into a great screened-in porch, to drywall and ceiling work. Highly recommend Ideal Construction, they did a great job on our open concept Kitchen remodel! Zade and his team were great to work with, from first consultation through project completion. Zade really listened to what we wanted, he and his architect came up with plans to open up our main level, in a way other contractors said would not be possible. The project came in at budget. As walls came down issues were uncovered, but Zade always came with a solution that had minimal impact to the budget and layout (I/e re-routing plumbing and duct work to still allow for open concept and fixing the original support of our house). Project finished in the original timeline as well, even with delays caused due to permitting, the team was efficient and worked weekends to make up for the lost time. Zade was flexible and accommodating, meeting us on a weekly basis to review progress, setting out the plans for the coming week, getting our input, and communicating timely and with a solution as issues came up. Our project was almost like building a new house from scratch but harder because it including everything from architectural design, filing all the permits with the county, gutting the house, removing a portion of the house, substantial excavation, and adding on a significant size addition (a new floor and an extension on the back) which also included, another garage, patio and property fence! The team from Ideal was up for the challenging project and were very patient to work with us on every decision as they understood that this project is most importantly our home that my family bought decades ago and we wanted to renovate it to not only meet our needs but to also be fiscally responsible with the investment that we were making. I highly recommend Ideal Construction and Remodeling. They beat the competition with superb workmanship and very reasonable costs. I completely trust this company and its leaders. This company has done multiple projects on my house since June 2011. Two additions, one a master bedroom (2011) and the other a large sun-room (2013) They also completed my basement and installed a full bathroom there. In another project, they did a complete makeover of the front of the house adding a column and a railing the complete run of my porch and steps. They also expanded my concrete drive way and lined it with red bricks. The company also built a brick base for a lamppost and their electricians installed the lamppost on top. We selected Ideal Construction to renovate our existing home creating an in-law suite with a bathroom configured to support aging parents. We also expanded up with a second floor addition. They have good crews that work for them or partner well with them on their projects. We never felt that our job was less important than the other jobs they worked on in parallel. With every project something always goes wrong especially with existing homes where surprises never cease behind walls and within ceilings. What we appreciated most was the fact that they were transparent, problem solvers, and attentive to issues needing timely resolution. The Ideal Construction team did a fantastic job for us on a tricky renovation project that involved removing interior stairs to create a completely open first floor level, renovating the kitchen, completely finishing an unfinished basement (including excavation and underpinning portions to increase the ceiling height), and building a new light filled stair tower to connect the basement first, and second floor levels. I work on the commercial side of the building industry and I found that our project manager Zade was incredibly accessible, responsive, and attentive. The few times I did notice small issues, Zade typically already had it on his list as something to address. I recommend the ideal team and would use them again if I ever have the need. read more

Jason, Zade and the rest of the Ideal Construction team were wonderful to work with. Jason came out initially to take a look at the project and give his expertise/ideas for how best to open up the walls and remodel the kitchen. Their team paid close attention to detail and Zade, project manager, came out several times to meet with Arlington County inspector after each part of the project was completed. Zade and Jason coordinated all of the different workers (electrical, plumbing, demo, flooring, etc..) and completed the project in a timely and professional manner. I am very pleased with the work done in my house by Ideal construction. I remodeled two bathrooms and it turned out so nice that I added more projects such as family room.
