They asked for this review so I will be honest: the orthodontist showed my child a video of how to care for braces, asked what color bands she likes and then denied her treatment referring her to the dental college at Texas A&M. Which was not even a legitimate referral. He made a lot of profound treatment plans such as removing teeth installing spacer in the roof of mouth but then declined to treat my child. How dare you make such extreme treatment suggestions when you are not accepting the patient. To show a child a care video on braces, ask what color they prefer prior to creating a treatment plan is mental manipulation and poor bedside manner. The front desk staff is ghetto and loud. Overall worst experience with a dental office in my 20 years of experience as a client in the dfw metroplex. read more

I took my daughter to have her wisdom teeth removed. Paid the fee up front. Before the surgery they told me that only two could be removed. I was told that I would receive a refund for the two not removed. I have made numerous calls and keep getting the run around. I went to my appointment I scheduled for a regular cleaning which my insurance would pay for. They took X-Rays and said I needed thousands of dollars of dental work which I know I did not and did not ask for anything other than a regular cleaning. They would not give me a regular cleaning and charged me $96 for work I did not ask for. I cannot recommend Ideal Dental Cedar Hill to anyone. read more

PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE!!!! SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY. Extra billing and Services that I did not ask to be done: I specifically requested to only do the tests that were covered by my insurance at the time of booking the appointment and on the day of the appointment but they still did an additional X ray that was not covered. I called my insurance company (Cigna) that pulled up the call records that clearly mentioned to the person calling from Ideal Dental that the X ray was not covered but Ideal dental still went and did the X ray and charged me for it. When I called Ideal dental they refused to listen to me and re-check and revise the bill. Did not provide the service I asked for: I had booked an appointment to do basic cleaning but they refused to do that for me on the day of the appointment as I needed a deep cleaning. I waited for over an hour for the dentist to come and talk to me. They did not do what I requested for, did extra tests that were not covered by my insurance, wasted over 2 hours at the office without any service and a bill that now I need to pay out of pocked. EXPENSIVE AND BILLED WRONG INSURANCE!! I just went in for an exam, cleaning and X-rays. The dentist did a good job but the pricing was double what other places charge. ($1000 for the services I listed above???) THEN I got a bill from my old insurance saying they received the bill and that I had to pay in full since I no longer had a policy with them. Receptionist claimed they switched my insurance but I had to call insurance myself and fix it. Frustrating and will not go back. Save time/money and just go to MINT dentistry. read more

My experience has been good until today when my appointment was cancelled 15minutes to my appointment time. This is after i had taken time off from work, and picked my son up from school and was on my way to my appointment. Reason for cancellation is that the crown was not ready and my son has the same first and last name and appointment date as another patient who happened to have the same appointment date as my son. What a coincidence. I am disappointed because, the day before my appointment i was called to confirm the appointment. Why didn't the office confirm if the resources needed will be available before calling me and confirming my appointment? This was a waste of my time and PTO days. Next time please give me a checklist so i can read it out to you guys and confirm everything is in place before i confirm my availability for the appointment. Oral surgeon Mrs. Stone is very rude, uncaring lack customer service skills, her nonchalant attitude is horrible especially in her line of business. My 14 year old son came here to have his wisdom teeth removed Mrs. Stone indicated in a very rude manner that she does not allow anyone in the room with patients while work is performed and stated in a very rude manner that we could take our child elsewhere if we desired. Since I had already went through the process of scheduling the procedure and taking my child out of school I went ahead with the procedure against my better judgement. Mrs Stone removed my child's wisdom teeth in about 15 mins give or take a few minutes and we were allowed back into the operating room after the procedure was completed. After returning to the operating room I noticed that my son had tears running down his face when asked why was he crying he indicated that during the extraction he was able to feel pain he informed Mrs Stone and she gave him another shot and moved forward with the procedure. We were informed that the surgeon had to cut one of my son"s wisdom teeth in half in-order to extract it ....it became clear to me that they do not allow anyone back with patients so they can do whatever they want especially to a minor child. After the surgery my son was in extreme pain for four hours even after taking the prescribed meds immediately after his surgery. read more

My cap fell off after only 2 years of having it. I alerted the office and scheduled an appointment to be seen and was told that since I no longer had that insurance that it was not covered. This is beyond horrible considering that major dental work from this company is prided by a 5-year insurance policy that has been paid and didn't even last 2 years. 1. Constant turnover of staff inhibits continuity of service. 2. Billing department of Smile Workshop (SW) failed to follow my Medicare provider published protocol required for advanced approval for crown work, but performed a crown procedure anyway without prior approval, ultimately costing $900. Following the denial of payment, the provider gave 60 days to appeal decision. I asked the billing staff at SW if I needed to initiate the appeal process, but they said they were handling it. I checked to make sure the appeal was filed in time and was told by SW just prior to the 60 day deadline that "the appeal was filed". Months later I found out from my provider that NO appeal was ever filed and I asked the central billing department at SW to follow up. They finally filed an appeal (over 5 months late) in late October, exactly one day after my call. The appeal was dismissed and returned without review in November because of expiration of time and no reason given for the late submission. SW then failed to act on yet another 60 day deadline for arbitration of the November dismissal. The billing manager at SW stated (erroneously) in December that they still had until February to file appeal, meanwhile my benefits for 2018 calendar year coverage lapsed. SW is still billing me $800 for THEIR misunderstanding and failures to act on: (1) the advanced approval process, (2) the appeals process and (3) the post dismissal arbitration process. STUNNINGLY INCOMPETENT. read more

We paid in full for our granddaughter's braces. She was at the end of her treatment when the pandemic hit. They claim since she didn't complete treatment within the contract period, we had to pay to pay a monthly fee, even though the clinic was closed down. Now she can't go in for treatment unless we pay $500. This is wrong. When my children had braces, the fee was for the duration of the treatment, even if it went longer than the estimate. The front office staff, especially the "manager" is extremely rude and confrontational. Stating that "all dentists" will require up to 1/2 the bill before submitting insurance claims is false. I tried to call back and reason w/them getting the same person on the phone. She is the main reason why we left and are finding a new dentist. Also, I had asked to speak to the dentist there and he was just as confrontational as the front office. This place is a "factory" and their practices are questionable. If I could give this dentist negative stars, I would. This dentist is the REASON why people are afraid of dentists in the first place. BE PREPARED TO READ A LONG REVIEW BUT VERY INFORMATIVE. I came in with my boyfriend to give this dentist a look around and see how the workers are to their patients and if I will be scheduling myself to be a patient here. My boyfriend was scheduled for a deep cleaning and a couple of fillings. After a little while, we were moved into another room for the fillings first before the cleaning (odd to me but okay). The assistant was very outgoing but when the doctor came in, she seemed so unwelcoming and didn't ask how we were or anything. She went ahead and injected my bf's gums like nothing and it looked very unprofessional if you get what I'm saying? Then they went ahead and worked on his fillings without asking if he was even numbed yet and just assumed he was. Time goes by and I'm watching the whole thing wondering if this is actually what it's like to do a filling bc she was struggling looking into his mouth without even adjusting HERSELF to be comfortable and kept bugging my bf to move up and up, I swear he almost slid off the chair. SURPRISE SURPRISE doctor gets a little too rough and I see my bf jerking back trying to get her to stop but she kept at it until the assistance asked if it hurt. The doctor did NOT apologize but the assistant did. Then they continued. Few minutes went by and my bf literally choked! The assistant shoved the tube too far down his throat! At this point, I feel so bad for my bf. I just wanna get him up and leave. Whatever... doctor finishes and she finally leaves. (Thank god) AS FOR THE DENTAL HYGIENIST 1. My bf warned me she was rude when he went in for X-rays the first time so I was observing She came in and was like "okay, imma get you guys out of here as quick as possible" and of course we want to leave, but doesn't mean you need to lessen your work because of it. Immediately she was in a rush! She literally scrubbed the crap out of his teeth and finished everything in the span of 15 minutes. I knew it was a "deep" cleaning or at least it was supposed to be because I've had it done before and I've had the vitamin on my teeth where I couldn't rinse or eat for 30 minutes. But anyways we left and we got in the car and I immediately asked my bf to see his teeth. The dental hygienist didn't even rinse the polish completely off of his teeth. It literally looked as if he just rubbed toothpaste on his teeth and just left it there over night. DO NOT GO HERE. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME BECAUSE ITS CONVENIENT!!! Last time I went, they told me I had an outrageous 8 cavities amounting to a boat load of money!! I then a month later went to a dentist elsewhere and was told I was being completely lied to. I really liked the dental staff there but on 12/29/20 I went to go get my wisdom teeth removed. I paid $595 out of pocket with my ATM card for my balance after the insurance's part. They could not do the procedure because I had a sip of coffee. I left and called 4 times to get a refund. It is now 02/24/2021 and I have yet to receive a refund so I have filed a claim through my bank. When I called the first time, the lady said they would just keep it for me as a credit. I said no then she told me I'd get a refund. The fourth time I spoke to a manager and she assured me I would get it but I have not. Needless to say, I cancelled my new appointment and won't be going back. During the 4 calls I made to get a refund, I never got a call back or follow up. They only called to remind me to use all of my new dental benefits which I won't be doing with them. read more

The staff has been pleasant up to this point. My daughter left upset because of one dental hygienist TAKARI WOODS. She was rude and very harsh with my 18 year old. She sprayed her in the face and eyes. My daughter tried to cover her eyes and Takari told her to move her hands. My daughter told her she sprayed her and she told her she was protecting her makeup too. Takari told her she doesn't need to wear makeup to a dentist office. She was abnormally rough when she cleaned her teeth following. My daughter was visibly upset and told the office ladies and they were very apologetic and somewhat sympathic to her. I called Smile Workshop when she got home and Takari intercepted the call and cut me off everytime I tried to speak. I asked her to give the phone to someone else sad she kept talking over me and then she said I am letting you go and hung up. She didn't say she was sorry for anything and even lied and said her assistant was there the whole time she was not. My daughter was tearing up in the seat while in TAKARI'S care and she continued to treat her inhumane and myself. I went in to get all my kids records and won't be back they did nothing to try to talk me into staying. They kept their mouths shut seems they know how Takari is. I have contacted the office manager and the owner Christopher Swayden. I am doubtfully I will get a reply. Someone like Takari that acts above reproach and cannot admit any wrong doing. She is incapable of even having an apology. She is in the wrong field. If situations were different someone would lose their job... beat she won't. She doesn't need to work with children ever!!! If I had a ZERO star option I would use it. We have been patients at the Cedar Hill location for a few years and I can honestly say Esther is by far the RUDEST Office Manager I've ever met. All she cares about is the money. Not patients, just turning those dollars over. I called to get my daughter in for a root canal/fill due to tooth pain (I could obviously see she had a deep cavity due to her brace removal and never deep cleaning her teeth) where her brackets had left damage. I spoke with Esther and explained the issue she was having and she said she could get us in that week with a check up appt and tell the dentist the issue and they would fix it. Not the case - they tried to sell me deep cleanings, 8 antibiotic injections, 3 fillings, 2 crowns (they said the existing ones were damaged) and a root canal. To top it off, they couldn't even schedule it for that day because they didn't have anyone that could perform the work. Esther came in to discuss the treatment plan and is EVERYWHERE except focused on us. When I then state we won't be doing any additional treatments today since the whole issue was the tooth, she basically stopped explaining the plan and said - well Ill check you now. Checked us out, scheduled the next appt. They had mentioned the root canal would be about 130-150 out of pocket (after my insurance covered it). SHE FAILED TO MENTION I WOULD HAVE TO PAY ALL THE COST OF THE CROWN. SO 150 WENT TO 340!!!!! If I didn't have an HSA card, what would have happened????? Now she has to wait 2 weeks (hopefully less) to get her crown that's fully paid for. I will not return to this location ever again after her paid services are completed. read more

The staff is nice, and professional. They need to work on explaining step by step the procedures they complete before doing them. I got my gums numbed without me knowing what was going on. The only read I knew was because I felt my heart racing. They need to work on scheduling as well. I waited 45 mins to be seen, with an appointment already scheduled months in advance. If you are going for any orthodontics work I recommend, Dr. Mahoney and staff is professional and friendly (Karen & Sierra). I was in and out. The orthodontics examined my exrays, gums and teeth and stated they were healthy and if I wasn't having problems with my wisdom teeth I didn't have to have them pulled and it wouldn't be a problem with putting braces in and scheduled an appointment to put them in. If you are going for any dental or hygienist work stay away. They overbook and have you waiting over an hour before they call you back. I had a scheduled appointment for teeth cleaning on a Friday at 11:30am I was not called back for my x-rays until 12:07 pm and that is because I asked what was taking so long for me to be called back. X-rays were completed at 12:27pm. I waited for the hygienist to come in which was at 12:50pm they hygienist stated I had a small amount of tarter build up on my two back wisdom teeth and the two teeth next to them, which I am aware of because these are very hard to clean areas and I am always told this from my previous dental visit. I heard her telling the dentist to recommend a deep cleaning for those 4 teeth, I have always had regular 6 week dental check ups and any of the dentist have recommended a deep cleaning they clean the area and recommend I brush twice a day and immediately after I eat if I can. The dentist saw me after 1:20pm after he was done the office manager came in with treatment plan and stated the dentist was recommending a deep cleaning but they would have to reschedule me because they were getting ready to close. I was highly upset because I had spent 2.5 hours in their office and no work completed. They scheduled me for the following Tuesday at 4pm. The day before my appointment I called my insurance company and they informed me they will not authorize payment for 4 teeth to be deep cleaned it has to be the entire mouth. When I returned call to confirm appointment I informed the receptionist of what my insurance stated to me and that I would be getting a regular cleaning verses the deep cleaning because I would have to pay out of pocket for it. When I arrived and waited another 30 minutes before I inquired what was taking so long for me to come back. They called me back at 430 and I was told I had to get the deep cleaning and they had received authorization from my insurance to proceed, which was a lie. The hygienist refused to give me a regular cleaning and stated I could go somewhere else. Bottom line insurance doesn't pay much for regular cleaning verses deep cleaning so hygienist and dentist have found a way to scam clients and insurance companies by saying everyone needs deep cleanings. Maria the office manager told me if I didn't get the deep cleaning they would tell the Orthodontist not to complete braces procedure. Pay attention to the charges on the treatment plan as they are overcharging so they can get money from you and the insurance company. I will be contacting the insurance board and medical board regarding their unethical business practices. read more
