Great dinner last night! From the pickle fries appetizer to my Reuben sandwich everything was perfect.

The downtown area of Quincy is full of vacant storefronts and we weren't expecting much when we rolled up to Idle Hour. But we were pleasantly surprised by this gem. The service was excellent, and the food was too. The menu is heavy on fried and burgers, both which aren't my thing. I was a bit hesitant to order the prawns, but they were so good! Tender, flavorful and with perfectly cooked green beans and firehouse potatoes. My husband and older son got burgers -- which were huge -- and my younger got a kid's portion of fish and chips. Too much to finish, but everyone loved their meals. My older son told me Idle Hour is his new favorite restaurant, high praise from a kid who's eaten in some far-flung locales. read more

We had the soup and salad combo. Chowder was okay, the salad was crisp, delicious blue cheese dressing. The favorite was the fresh, housemade pretzel stick served along side the soup! Yum-yum... eat it hot! read more

Last steak place in Quincy? I guess so. The staff were nice and friendly. The cook nice too. Home style look to it. Good prices for a meal to high end meals. I usually get mine to go and was given addl directions to make it taste just as good a half hour later in the hotel. They seem to care about you enjoying the food. read more

this place is perfect for a post concert get us back over the pass breakfast! we all ate a different choice on the menu and they were basic breakfast items... fresh ..really prepared well (I scoffed at the hashbrowns pale color but they were really good!) so it is was it is a place to load up and hit the road ..we did not eat or think of food again until diner! decent coffee ..just Seattles Best but well prepared and kept coming so considering my nightmare at the Quincy Inn (see review) the breakfast made up for a lot of sins read more

Oh my gosh!!! The business name is the experience we endured. We literally had to idly wait an hour from the time we were seated till we got our food. It's a busy place with very slow service. Coffee and a glass of water took 20 minutes to be served, food another 30 minutes. We were disappointed to see that breakfast only is served on the day of our visit, Sunday. Mediocre burger at best, owner or manager seems very nice and we appreciate the service but the quality of the food could be a little better. The meat from the burger tasted like it was left out all day or from the day before, will try a different dish when I return in the future. read more

This was a great find as we were passing through after camping in Leavenworth. The food was excellent. Portions - over the top. Had an amazing Bloody Mary! This place is like Cheers! Locals coming in and chat and have a great meal. The restaurant is extremely clean and an inviting atmosphere. We will definitely be back next time we pass through. read more

Went for brunch because we had heard it was excellent. There was a draft at the table where we were seated and we were all freezing. When our server finally showed up we asked to move which didn't seem to make her very happy. Although the table we moved to was somewhat warmer it was still like sitting in an icebox. The food was only mediocre, very disappointing. The only thing worse than the food was the service. Had to go find the server to get a second cup of coffee. We won't be going back. read more

Loved my dinner. Had the pork rinds that crackled like rice crispies and came with an awesome spicy dip. My grilled salmon was great and the asparagus cooked just right. Maybe I have lived in Western Washington for too long, but I thought the prices were very reasonable. read more

A real cute, clean spot for the locals. The menu is all sandwiches, basic staples. Service is fast and friendly. This seems like the "go to" spot in town. Easy front street parking with very little traffic. A must see if you happen to not blink and miss this town! read more

Mom and I went to the Idle Hour for dinner tonight. It was very good. They have changed the menu leaving it very clear as to what you get with the fish and chips. That was an issue with me in the past. Our waitstaff Eric was wonderful. He made a fresh pot of coffee for us. The meal came quickly. My mom's salad was very fresh. My fire potatoes were very good. The fish was fabulous. Thank you Idle Hour for a pleasant dinning experience. read more

The burner burger is the best Burger in quincy, little chinsy on the fries for how much they charge, also charge extra to sub onion rings or a small salad. It's penny pinching in my book but the burger is worth it. To each there own I guess. The place is nice but awkwardly quiet maybe get a jukebox or play some smooth jazz. ;) read more

This appeared to be the only restaurant that serves breakfast on the weekends. It opens at 8am. I thought it was going to be crowded just because of this, but we walked right in and got a table. The food was good and the waitress attentive. The prices seemed reasonable for breakfast. read more

We ate lunch at the Idle Hour yesterday. Both of our burgers, salad and fries were great but the service was horrible. It took them 15 minutes to bring us menus. Waited another 15+ before our order was taken. The food delivery took forever. In the meantime, others who came in about the same time as us or after us were actually getting their food. When our burgers came, we had to ask for silverware. We also asked for extra napkins as the burgers looked really juicy (and they were, which is great!). The waitress said of course! She never came back to our table until we managed to get her attention to ask for the check. She never refilled our water. Never asked how the food was. Never brought napkins. Nothing. When paying the bill up at the counter, we asked if we'd done anything wrong to irritate her. She replied the her knee was hurting and she was just trying get through her shift. Unfortunately, that didn't fly with us as she managed to get around to others just fine. One last thing. We could see the woman cooking the food in the kitchen. She has shoulder length hair which was not pulled back....just dangling over the food she's making.....yuck! read more

I am not a local, and I do not wish to damage the already fragile economy in Quincy, but I had a truly awful meal at this place. I was in town for a concert with my wife, and we figured this place was the least sketchy option (plan B was a bar and grill named tikis that advertised the need for girls to participate in a bikini contest). So long story short, we played it safe and ordered a couple of burgers and some beers. We were not asked how we wanted them cooked, and to our horror they came out medium rare and bleeding all over the bun, even after waiting twenty minutes for them to arrive. We were the only ones ordering food too. I choked down what I could and my wife completely lost her appetite. The worst part is the owner and waitress both made comments about how little was eaten but did not ask what was wrong or offer to comp any of it. It cost us $30 and we both left the place totally grossed out. Next time we stay in quincy, I guess it'll be McDonalds and Subway...Its really unfortunate too, because I really prefer to spend my money at small local business rather than the chains. read more
