We were driving thru on our way to electric city and looking for a place to eat as we had 3 dogs with us in our way to our campground. It was mid morning on a Sunday. We had 2 teenagers with us as well. We got a great patio seating table to keep our dogs contained. Our waiter was good but could tell he was overwhelmed. Our drink & food order was taken at the same time as we didn't want to wait beyond necessary as it was pretty warm out. We had a great experience early on, but lately the food has been sub par. Today I went and I ordered eggs over medium with hash browns and chicken fried steak. The egg whites were runny, the hash browns were under cooked, and the chicken fried steak was small and had a funny spice to it. We won't be going back. read more

Tried today for lunch with my daughter, she ordered the club without tomato or lettuce and I ordered the "philly" steak sandwhich, my daughter loved her club sandwhich but their meat is frozen not fresh, the server originally told us the turkey deli meat was frozen so it might take too long to defrost (to me that is off putting that the meat is frozen in a sit down restaurant for something as simple as a sandwhich) but that's okay to each their own, I should've gotten a burger instead of the Philly sandwhich because they did not use thin shaved steak, they used thick slabs of cheap cheap roast beef deli meat that seemed like it was also frozen and had the worst quality I've ever seen from a restaurant sandwhich, it was tough and had a bunch of fat throughout, I ended up taking the meat out and eating my bread with the au jus that I added to the side. For $16 I expected at least half better than that! I would've exchanged it for something else but the server didn't come check on us once or even walk by and I had to hurry due to being on my lunch break, I didn't have an extra 20 minutes or so to wait on something else. I honestly was grossed out by the quality of the beef sandwhich. I also asked for pickles on the side and they were out of them, I get stuff happens with inventory I used to work as a server in a restaurant and I am very understanding but when the main lunch menu is burgers you have to keep more pickles handy lol. I'm giving 2 stars for the friendly hostess that took my payment and the server was nice too but when we were only 1 of 3 tables dining in and you don't check on us once the entire time I have to take away stars, i would've left 3 stars if she had checked on us even once even though my food was inedible. I probably won't come back here, after over $33 spent before tip on 2 sandwiches and waters i absolutely expect better quality, sorry if that's harsh but if I wanted poor quality, frozen mystery meat I'd go to McDonald's. read more

I stopped in to get breakfast while doing some other business in town. The food was good, the service was as expected glad it wasn't busy.

After seeing all the great photos that the new owners have posted on social media we decided to give them a try. My eggs and bacon were perfectly cooked, the hash browns were way undercooked. All of our food was cold, the whipped butter was not even melting into the toast. Taking a peek into the kitchen there was no heat source at the pass and the food just sits there and gets cold. This place was delicious. They had breakfast, lunch and dinner to choose from. Also had cocktails. Service was also amazing too. The only issue we had was our son and DIL are 23 and their Florida ID's are vertical because they haven't changed them from when they were under 21. They aren't expired or anything but this state doesn't allow the restaurant to serve them. They are supposed to have a license that doesn't say under 21 even though they are 23. Not the restaurants fault but it's been hit or miss this trip as to if they can have a cocktail or not. We would still go back. read more

We were driving through Ephrata on a Sunday about noon and were looking for a local cafe. Country Deli's curb appeal caught our attention, so we pulled over for brunch. The restaurant was bustling, a good first impression when you're in a small town. We were greeted immediately, and seated promptly by a cheerful and friendly waitress. My wife had a French Toast combo which was quite tasty. I had a Turkey bacon grilled sandwich. Nicely grilled bread, generous with the turkey, fresh avocado, thick bacon and pepper jack cheese for just the right zing. The side of fries was hot and fresh and served in a cute mini frying basket. The food was great, no complaints. The mimosa however, was a glass of orange juice for $10. Yes, I eventually drank it all and that was the managers' argument. I get that, I watch Judge Judy. We were not going to come here based on some of the reviews, at 9am in this town guess that was our not option. The restaurant was clean, clean restrooms and it was not rundown like some reviews claim. We sat down and noticed row tables in side. And one outside. After receiving menus and water we took a few minutes and orders out breakfast. I ordered the special and everyone else had something different, waffles, French toast and a wrap thing. Everyone was happy, food tasted good and our waitress was friendly. For some reason it took about 15min for the food to come.. everyone else was already eating when we got there that was the inly negative part of our experience. I saw a lot of recent reviews that complained about the cooks not wearing face masks, they are not mandatory and we're only during covid. Not sure what some people think. read more

I had high hopes and the waitress seemed nice enough. I ordered the french toast and my friend ordered an omelet with hash-browns. She asked for the toast to be on a separate plate because she is gluten free. When they brought out the food, they put the toast she specifically said she was allergic to on top of her food, all of the food came out cold (absolutely no warmth to it at all), and the hash-browns weren't cooked all the way. On top of that the waitress ignored us for most of our visit. I will not be back and do not recommend coming here if you want a hot, cooked breakfast. read more

I previously reviewed this restaurant a couple of years ago. While the food was a bit bland then, it was edible and my husband liked it so we continued going usually one morning every weekend. Not anymore! They are under new ownership and they are making some changes...fine. But I would not recommend going if they are remotely close to being busy. We ordered and then waited for nearly an hour for our food. A group of six people who had been there before we showed up left...they never got their food. Once our food came out, the bread on my patty melt was bloody, the meat was not.... I sent it back and was not comfortable with having it remade, I had already waited an hour and now was not comfortable with their kitchen protocols for cross contamination. I ate my husband's hash browns while he ate his omelet and we left, likely not to be back again. While we were waiting the table behind us had to send their food back because it looked like a pepper shaker exploded on it. They may be making changes but this is not the way to keep business. The waitress was great and tried to keep us informed on the status of our food. But she can only do so much with a kitchen staff that has some serious flaws. read more

Great little hometown restaurant. It is very reasonably priced with decent comfort foods and standard fare breakfast. A bit odd it's called a deli as it's really a diner. Decor is a bit dated, but that adds to the comfortable feeling of the place. I had the daily special of pork loin, real mashed potatoes, veg, toast & salad for an incredible $9.95. All very good. Sure it has its items that aren't stellar, but if you want consistency go to McDonald's where you can have the same miserable food worldwide. Service is very friendly, can be slow if lots of tables as often just one server. Is it worth a Michelin star, of course not. but 5 yelp stars for being what it is, a good local country diner. read more

I am giving it a two, only because the waitresses are awesome. Since the new owners took over, they raised the prices, which would be fine if the quality and quantity of the food had not taken a hit. The last straw after some previous issues that I gave them the benefit of, was when I received my breakfast and there was only one slice of toast. When I asked about it. It was indicated that was all that was now included. I have been a patron of this place for many years and lately have been in there on an average of once a week. I always dine with at least one other person and sometimes more. the average trip is usually about $40.00. so about $120.00 a month. I haven't been in there since the toast debacle. I find that their appears to be more bosses than workers at times. I don't think they realize that the local patrons are who pays their bills for the most part. Especially during the cold season. I hope that cutting out one slice of toast has paid off for the owners, because it saved me lots of money from not patronizing them. I work for a large organization, and the general scuttlebutt is many others are unhappy with the new owners tactics against their patrons, and many are not going in there and are waiting for a competitor to come in that is transparent and worth local patronage. read more

The only thing good about country deli is the food but they have really bad service and when cleaning off the table they don't even wipe them down we still had food on our table. They have no busboy to clean the tables after customers leave. We waited at the door for 15 min with 4 tables that needed cleaned and no one acknowledged we were even there until a customer came up to pay and it still took another 10 minutes for them to be able to pay and leave. They refuse to higher more help. Maybe getting the word out will get the owners to think and hire a couple more hands to help out. Customers are even serving there own coffee. And we had to wait over 30 min just to order. read more

Great real food cooked excellent, this place is fast even when it's standing room only they get you in fed and out, the staff is friendly, they make you feel welcome and comfortable like the home town feeling and Ephrata is not my home town. Naturally, I ordered the chicken fried steak and was very disappointed. The chicken was dry and flavorless. A highly sweet tint to the gravy threw the entire dish off for me. I found the hash browns to be under cooked and bland. Adding cheese won't help. Walking in, you'll find that it is a seat your self and grab your own menu type of joint. The service is slow because the restaurant is super busy. It is on the main drag of Ephrata and parking can be found in the back.
