Good home cooking in Brigham City. Their rolls and jam are delicious, and their shakes are huge. I love their country fried steak and my wife enjoyed her Philly cheesesteak. My mashed potatoes and gravy were exactly what I imagined (country gravy of course) and paired great with my country fried steak. I've had the hamburgers before and enjoyed them and the fries. Had dinner here tonight, rolls with apricot jam are legendary...... cheeseburger and dinner salad were solid... ranch taste homemade. Garlic fries were great ! Potato salad is best I've ever had in a Utah restaurant..... definitely house made ! Decided to try this place after seeing it a few times when passing through Brigham City. Ambiance was fine and the service good, bu the food was horrible! My wife had the Turkey and gravy special with vegetables. Turkey was really dry, shredded and tasted old or out of a can. Hardly any gravy at all. Vegetables consisted of canned corn. Really? My burger and fries was meh. We ordered shakes which were super runny and had very little flavor. They were nice enough to take off the meal special from the bill. Won't be back. read more

The staff could not have been nicer and the food was decent. I actually really liked the potato salad. I almost ordered a 2nd side of it! Only complaint I had was that we were the only table in the whole room surrounded by dirty tables that remained unbiased until our food arrived. We were referred to this place by a family member that grew up in that town. We had to get a venue fast because it was an unexpected tragedy in our family. We went in to talk to the owner Jonothan, which sympathized with our situation and was nice. He told me that his wife takes care of catering part and gave me her number. After a phone call with her, calling to three times to confirm we showed up after the funeral and the two servers had no idea that we had these reservations and I had 25 people looking at me like what the heck. To give credit to those two servers they quickly put some tables together and got it done. The food was horrendous, most likely how fast the cooks had to prepare and get it done. My sister got a salad that looked like they threw some pulled pork or meat on top a head of lettuce. I never even got a phone call from Jonothon or Corinne to apologize or NOTHING. We were excited to try this restaurant based on the reviews.....esp the pie. We went for an early dinner (5pm) on a Friday evening. I would say our dinner were quite good. I had the slow roasted pot roast (which is quite literally a huge pile of tender beef with one side....I had mashed potatoes which were ok). My husband had a burger which was standard. The rolls with the peach sauce were OUTSTANDING. The peach sauce is like crack. Unfortunately there was a bad season last year so they did not have any extra jars for sale. I was sooooo sad. But, our entire experience was ruined by the lack of pie. Pie is what they are famous for. Pie is why they were featured on Food Network (as well as other sources). All their pies are listed on a separate menu placed on each table. So, when at 5pm on a Friday evening we were told they only had a few pieces of pecan pie left we were SHOCKED. No apple, banana cream, coconut cream????? And specifically NO award winning Idleberry pie???!!! Seriously. And no idea when they would be baking more pie???!!! How can a restaurant famous for their pie be entering the weekend with no pie and no plans to bake more? read more

The service was great, but the food was probably the worst I ever paid for. My daughter ordered off the children's menu, she received a slider (cheeseburger) and fruit - a warm plastic fruit cup. I ordered a ribeye with vegetables. The ribeye was the toughest Ive ever had, the steak knife could barely cut the meat and took forever to chew through. The vegetables- very bland canned corn. Have to give them one star for the signs on the window saying open Monday thru Thursday from 11 am to 7:30 pm. It's 11:30 am and a big closed sign on the window. This is the second oldest restaurant in Utah. Brigham city was having a peach festival and by chance, we decided to stop at the Idle Isle Cafe. We tried the cod and fries which were done perfectly. Then we topped it off with a fresh peach milk shake. So good. The decor reminds me of places we went to back in the 40's and 50's. Home made rolls, piping hot out of the oven, with homemade peach jam were served when we ordered our food. Very friendly wait staff. I would gladly return when we are in the area. The Idle Isle Cafe has a wonderful friendly vibe. And I found it on Yelp. read more

The French Onion Soup and the Loaded Potato Soup were so good!!! The flavors of both were right on the mark! The meatloaf was exceptional and the hot roast beef was just as good as if your grandmother made it! When they ask if you want rolls, say "yes"! They are large, hot and fresh and - they make an apricot jam that is undeniably delicious! If we lived in town , we would definitely be regular patrons! Yum! read more

The service is great. Very friendly and attentive. The manager walks the restaurant and makes sure everything is going well. The wings however are over sauces. I ordered the wings with sauce on and it was so much sauce that it was not edible. I ordered a second serving of the wings with the sauce on the side and that was slightly better. The wings themselves were so dry and over fried that you couldn't taste the chicken. The peach lemonade is FANTASTIC I would stop here again for the peach lemonade and the tomato basil soup. Eating at the Idle Isle is worth the trip because you have a chance to step back in time when life wasn't so rushed, you met your neighbors eating there and a real soda fountain is still in use. The food is warm comfort food in every way. They start dinner by bringing out hot, homemade rolls that melt in your mouth. Fresh Peach jam is on your table if you want to add that. Every dinner comes with your choice of soup or salad and a vegetable. My husband had the ham and bean soup and Augratin potatoes. We both had Chicken Fried Steak and it was delicious smothered in either brown or white gravy. I chose the salad and had their homemade French Dressing. The Dressing is so good I wanted to drink it. My only regret was not choosing the AuGratin potatos too because they were beyond delicious. The price is not much more than fast food either. So if you need to get out of the busy city I would recommend a drive to Brigham City and eat at Idle Isle. read more

We loved the classic feel in Idle Isle Cafe. We all loved the food! It was great and reasonably priced. However, we were pretty disappointed with the service. Our server seemed to ignore us and only cared about her bigger tables in the back. I get places that are short staffed, and the food could have been worth the wait. It was 30 minutes before we even got our water to drink. We were told by our server that she had two big tables in the back and someone else was getting our drinks. It was so warm in the seating area, and my kids were super thirsty. Overall, it could have been a better experience! read more

Dinner on Monday. I had liver and onions with bean soup. Very good. My two companions each had different meals and were both very satisfied with them. Seating and service swift and courteous. Waitress young and new at job but very eager to please. Manager on the floor to see that things went right and they did. Seating, service and food all first rate. The last 3 times I was here, service was horrible. Saturday I was served cold mashed potatoes and when I sent them back, the manager came to tell me that they were not cold cause he tested the pot. He refused to answer why they were cold, basically called me a liar. Received no refill on the drink, even though both he and the waiter saw my empty glass. Idle Isle Cafe has always been a favorite in my family. I went there Saturday, during Peach Days in Brigham City. I was with my family, some friends and their kids. The manager, possibly the owner was awesome! He was very attentive and accomodating. My friend's baby got sick at the end of our meal and made a mess. The manager came right over and started cleaning it up. He was very kind and understanding. I was thoroughly impressed that he handled the situation himself and made us feel comfortable. And the food and homemade apricot jelly is the BEST! read more

On historic Main Street, it felt wonderful to again find this gem. We loved having their grandma-home-style, pot-roast-beef hot sandwiches with warm rolls, apricot jam, and two sides. (I had salad and soup.) The service is charm-filled too, prompt and small-town friendly. I just wish I had room for one of their milkshakes also. We were t traveling through and when I googled best restaurants in Brigham City, this came up as #2 after Maddox, it was a Monday so Maddox was closed. Service was friendly but slow, even through there were an ample number of teens working. My husband ordered a shake even before our meal order and didn't get it for 30 minutes, a good 10 minutes after our food. The food was bland, chicken fried steak was over cooked, no flavor in it or the brown gravy, potato salad was warm. this restaurant has completely gone downhill! the service was fine, the food was mostly inedible. My husband ordered the daily special, Tuscan pork chops and it was so dry and so tough he could barely swallow it down. I am so sad to see the quality of food at this restaurant go downhill. I have heard from several that the food from Idle Isle is awful both in restaurant and when they are catering, but I didn't see any negative comments on their FB page, some thought we would go, support a local business and make up our own minds. I left a polite but frank comment on their FB page about our experience, and the owner promptly delet a the comment. This is something that never would have been done in the past, the previous owner would handle less than favorable reviews head on, and make immediate changes when necessary. The fact that this new owner simply deletes negative feedback is deplorable to me. I am leaving an honest review here where it can't be deleted. We definitely won't be eating here again. read more

High quality food. Great burgers, chicken fried steak, and grilled chicken. They put the time in to make your experience great. I love the ambiance of this place. Old wood booths with ornate wood trim all around. They don't make restaurants like this anymore. Their service is wonderful and attentive, just like their food. The rolls are the best in town (and yes, I am including Maddox in that comparison). In fact, the rolls are not the only thing better than Maddox. The salads are better. The chicken fried steak is better. Even their fries are better. Brigham City is blessed to have two restaurants that serve amazing American food so close together. If you're in the mood for a steak, you'll need to go to Maddox. If not, Idle Isle has better food, service, prices, and overall experience. read more
