This was maybe a two star experience because the place was not very clean and the equipment was not great (you have to choose songs from YouTube like you would if you were doing karaoke at home). To get in we had to call a number on the front door, which was barred. It was kind of unsettling but I guess there is some crime in the area. There was not much ventilation in the karaoke room. At minimum they should make it a bit cleaner and welcoming inside, update the equipment- maybe have a more professional karaoke set up beyond what people could do at their homes (play youtube on their TV), and maybe make it look a little less shady on the outside somehow. read more

My friend found this place via yelp so we decided to visit and try it. Parking was not as easy to find on the weekend as there was also a food truck event next door. We ended up parking about a block away. They have a parking lot but was full. This place seems to be in a what seems like - converted home. They have about 6 rooms or so with different sizes. My group was about 15ppl, the women working here are so sweet and accommodating. We stayed for about 2hrs, got about 8-9 bottles of soju. Everything came to about $260 (can't remember if this includes tip or not). The soju bottles are $12, the water bottles are 1 for $2, OR 2 for $3 (this is the better option especially for a large group). They gave us mini cups to hand out to everyone so we could take shots of the soju. The volume is great in the karaoke room and also there are 2 mics which is nice for duets. Came here with some friends one evening as we wanted to do karaoke in a private room. The room was private (we were also the only customers) and the decor was fun, and finding songs was easy. However, the venue location is a bit shady, there were a couple of cockroaches, one microphone battery died midway, and the price was a bit much for the experience. The sole employee was helpful and they do sell a few beverages (beer, water, etc). I don't recall if you can bring your own food or drinks. This seems to be a family-owned Vietnamese business near Downtown and Vietnam Town. There is a gated parking lot, which is very convenient. They take cash, Venmo, and other electronic payments! They do not take credit cards. The karaoke system here is Youtube, so you'll literally find any song you want to sing! You can search for the karaoke versions of a song, or just look up the lyric videos to do a sing along instead. The options are endless. This is great for people who want to sing songs that aren't in English! The price for 2 to 5 people is $40/hour. They charge $25 if you bring your own food/drinks. Really nice place! We called in on a Saturday around 5pm and they told us that there were a lot of available spots for 6pm. We were pretty skeptical as it was in a weird spot and it's a small building. When you go in it looks like someone's house and where they used the rooms for karaoke lol. Plus We were the only customers there so it's hard not to be skeptical. Turns out we were just a bit early from their busy hours The lady was super nice and accommodating , the place was clean and sanitary, and their equipment does the job! Checked out online reservation but they were out of evening times. We called to see if they accepted walk ins but they said they had evening spots and we were able to book a 2hr spot. Super easy if you call! Staff was really easy to work with because we had to push back the time of the reservation a couple hrs before because we were running late and the staff made it work! $50/hr for groups of 5-7 and $30 for brining in outside food and drinks! Super worth it! That rate is solid for ~$10/person/hr. Their rooms were clean, well, maintained, and the set up is for karaoke through YouTube. Really easy to navigate on a tablet and just search up songs on YouTube instead of an set music book like other places. Highly recommend this spot! read more

Late Post: Visited this spot on 2/20/2022 to celebrate my daughter's surprise dirty 30 party as karaoke is her favorite thing. They were quick to respond to my reservation request which I always appreciate. We reserved the largest room which fits 10-12 people and brought our own food and drinks. I was more than happy to pay the nominal fee for doing so as it would've been triple the cost if we had opted for a sit down dinner elsewhere. We arrived about 15 minutes early and the girl said that it was ok to go in and set-up and she wouldn't start charging us until our actual reservation time (bonus points for the concession). The room was great, the system was linked to a tablet using YouTube so there was an unlimited selection of songs to choose from. We ended staying 3 hours and had a blast. There was a different lady when we started the festivities and she was really friendly. A couple of our balloons had popped leaving confetti on the floor and when we asked for a broom to clean up, she said no worries, she would take care of it (great customer service). I paid and tried to give her a cash tip, but she declined. She just asked us to visit again soon. I highly recommend this spot as they have reasonable prices and great customer service. IDOL Karaoke is located on the outskirts of San Jose , tucked away in a residential area. They have a huge parking lot with tons of lighting to make you feel safe but I would still recommend taking any valuables with you. The staff was nice and showed us to the room right away. There were only 2 of us so it was a smaller room. It was very clean and maintained. They even had a bottle of hand sanitizer and microphone masks too! The venue leaves a small android tablet that is defaulted to YouTube and you basically have to search like how you would normally search at home for karaoke versions of the song you want. It's connected wirelessly to the TV and it plays the music there. The sound system was really good though but was disappointed that it didn't have a dedicated app to use to find karaoke songs. The tablet was very slow as well so typing on it was a struggle. They offered WIFI but the staff didn't know the wifi password lol. Not a big thing but still kinda funny. It's $40/hour so it's much better to come with a bigger party if you do decide to come here. Would I come back? Nah, probably not. Lady at the front was so kind to my friends and I because we were new and we have never gone out for something like this. She was so sweet and so nice to us. I went here with a group of friends the other night for some New Year karaoke and we had an amazing time!! I was recommended by my brother who goes here all the time and it definitely did not disappoint. The prices vary depending on how big your group is. We had 9 people and it was so affordable! The rooms are really nice and the pretty lights add a lot to the setting. We all felt comfortable and it didn't take us long to let loose and have fun. Lan was super accommodating and kind to us. I'm fortunate to know some Vietnamese so I was able to communicate with her more comfortably and her personality really shined. She's very nice, attentive, and hilarious.
