To get the positive notes out of the way, there were no issues with customer service, the room was clean, and the sound system worked well. If you made a reservation for like 7 p.m. and you check in at 7:10, they will start the clock at 7:10 (this is good -- I've been to places that would start the clock at 7). Other than that, I was underwhelmed by the karaoke system. First, the system tablet is mounted on a wall in a corner of the room, so you have to walk over to search. A tablet that can be handed around would offer a better experience. Their karaoke system is confusing. I tried searching "Ariana" (Ariana Grande) and nothing turned up, but I was able to find her eventually under one of the lists of artists (and this issue repeated for multiple artists). We all struggled to find songs. If you want to sing Japanese songs, you need to search it in Japanese as the system is case-specific and will not turn up searches using English romanization. This would have been fine for us in theory since almost everyone in our group knew Japanese, but the same aforementioned issues with searching were still present regardless of language. Someone in our group had experienced this system before and helped us navigate it, but I don't think a good karaoke system should be so user-unfriendly. There's a QR code you can scan to browse the system on your phone, but there's a mismatch between songs available through the QR code link and what the system actually has, so some songs that we added through the link actually did not exist in the system. It's unfortunately that the song search was so bad, because the system did have a large Japanese song selection, including recent hits. They have YouTube, but unlike other karaoke places with YouTube there's no way to queue songs, so you have to wait until a song is done to search and play a new song. Because of lack of ability to queue, we resigned ourselves to using the funky system since that could at least accommodate queuing. We were charged a 15% service fee in addition to the room fee and tax. I have seen past reviews report different percentage rates for the service fee, so I wasn't sure what to expect. They write down the service fee percentage on a slip of paper when checking you in, so it seems the percentage might not be standardized. Right before filling out the slip, the person at the front asked if we would be consuming food in the room, and we said no, but we did have bags of takeout leftovers that we weren't going to eat while in the room. I think you can have a good experience here if you are OK with spending a lot of time dealing with the system. read more

Shady practices here. We came for happy hour and they had a 50% off discount but they added 15% "service charge" and tax both on the full price amount. They also require Venmo payment and a review online. What was expected to be under a $25 bill ended up at $37+ after their hidden fees. There were cockroaches in the bathroom near the kitchen and the lady working at the front shushed my friend who asked where the bathroom was, gesturing that she was on the phone. I don't know what service charge they're automatically adding when they do not provide even basic service. read more

Was supposed to open at 6pm but said they open at 6:30 on Thursdays but 6 every other day of the week which was convenient since she was late and when we called another location to check they said the same thing. Total upgrade from my Round 1 karaoke days, this place is decorated very nicely almost has a club feel. They also serve food and drinks, next time I'll be coming in hungry that's for sure. They have EVERY song that you'd like to sing to your heart's content cause they you YouTube. Make sure to make reservations in advance, same day works as well. This place is pretty cool! I like how spacious the room is it was also very clean and well kept. The volume of the room can actually adjusted and the staff was pretty nice and helped us with it. There's a lot of food and drinks available here so it's cool that you can place an order anytime. I haven't tried their food but will do in case i get hungry next time. I hate giving bad reviews, but I would certainly not be back to this KTV... The experience here was so disappointing because the sound system is so bad and the worker was not helpful. Plus, the price tag is a bit higher than other places. My group and I thought this place was going to be nicer so it was worth paying more. Upon arrival, we were the only group there and we were standing there calling for someone to help us for about 5 minutes because there was no one at the counter. When we were leaving, there was also no one at the counter and we had to wait a pretty long time before we were helped. Save your money to use elsewhere please. read more

Came with coworkers and the room was clean and vibes were great! EDIT: Customer service could've been better, there were two instances where the lady working there has an attitude for no reason. We ordered a red bull and she looked at us like we're stupid because the fridge was behind us, but it was literally locked lol. One of the people in our group asked where the restroom was, abs the lady working's tone and mannerisms was also rude when informing. Again how are we supposed to know when we were in the very first room, there's nothing but a hall with other rooms, and no bathroom signage? We brushed all that off until the end of our reserved time and were ready to pay. She stated they only do zelle/venmo which i thought was weird because the website says otherwise. She also didn't let us leave before putting down a review which was also weird (and why i'm updating the review now that shes not staring us down) because it wasn't on the website - apparently it's part of the terms for the Happy Hour Deal but again, didnt see that anywhere. Booked a reservation originally for 15 people for Friday, March 28th. I called 3 days beforehand. Made a $50 deposit. For 12-15 people is $129 per hour and 9-11 people is $99 per hour. However the day of, 4 people didn't end up going so there was only 11 people going. I notified the workers that only 11 people were coming and not 15, he said it was fine. When we paid, we were charged about $420. We stayed for about 3 hours (8:30pm to 11:30pm). After looking at our receipt, we realized we were charged $129 per hour, and charged 20% service fee. I called them on Wednesday, April 2nd and asked why we were charged $129 when we had 11 people. He said "if there is a change in people, we need to notify them 24 hours in advance or we're paying for what we reserved." This was NOT disclosed prior when I made the reservation nor is it on their website. On the website, it ONLY states that the $50 depositions you make is refundable if you notify 24 hours in advance. No information about having to notify them 24 hours in advance for change of people. Then we asked why we were charged a 20% service fee when we didn't receive service and he said " because you agreed to it". Please be aware of the "restrictions" when you reserve a room with this karaoke. Note: it's just an iPad connected to a TV and you search songs on YouTube to sing from. read more

SCAM ALERT - Dishonest Business & Rude Staff We called before making our reservation for a party of 10. We were told: * Medium room: $70/hour * Large room: $100/hour * Book for more than 3 hours = 1 free hour * Business closes at 2 AM * We reserved for 10 PM Everything sounded great over the phone, and we confirmed all these details. BUT when we arrived at 10 PM, things completely changed. A chubby Asian Chinese guy (didn't get his name) told us none of those deals were valid anymore. Suddenly: * The medium room was $100/hour (not $70) * The large room was now $150/hour (not $100) * He said "promotions end at 10 PM" (but we booked AT 10 PM) * And to top it off, they automatically added 20% gratuity to the bill without asking This guy was extremely rude and unprofessional. It became clear this place runs on bait-and-switch tactics saying one thing to get you in, then overcharging once you're there. From our experience, this place is a total scam, and I'm sure many others will be tricked the same way. Extremely rude guy with the glasses working today (05/24). Complete and utterly distasteful and we will not be back. The moment we walked in this guy gave us attitude when we told him we had a reservation. His responded with "what? What reservation..." then proceeded to ask us how long we wanted the room. We were deciding on the time amongst each other as friends and he abruptly chimes in and says in a rude tone "I need a time." The way it took every ounce of me to not go over that counter and handle some business- the lord is watching over him today. And the last and worse part was, we tried to order food and the food was AWFUL! Not only did the food taste like frozen food, IT WAS UNDERCOOKED and RAW. Seriously what a joke of a place. We went to 4 different karaoke spots in SJ looking for the best one to have a birthday celebration. We're SO glad we chose Focus! Jesse was very kind and answered all of our questions beforehand so when we came with our group of 15 friends, we knew exactly what to expect. He was very attentive and welcoming. We loved that for a small fee we were able to bring our own food + alcoholic drinks. The space itself was very cool and clean.
