I'd give this a good 4-4.5 stars based on my first initial experience, but unfortunately after going there again, it's gonna have to be 3 stars now. And honestly, it easily could've stayed around the 4 stars but the owner or manager of this place forced my husband to leave a tip as if it was a requirement, even if she didn't really do much for us other than bring out 1 food item and 1 drink that I ordered, which seems like she's making us do that for the sake of her delivering such items to our room. If that's the case, then at least give us better service and don't be so forceful or pressure us to tip -- tipping is supposed to be a voluntary thing and not something that's demanded firsthand while my husband was still trying to pay for our 1hr time there. He also had leftover cash but was $5 short and so he wanted to put the last $5 on his card, but she wouldn't let him because she said it's too difficult to deal with doing both cash and card. The reason for the cash payment (despite being $5 short) was because they had a flyer in the karaoke room that said there's a discount for cash payments and I guess he couldn't get it since it was an annoying process to put the last $5 on his card. It's kind of a funny situation just sharing this part, huh? Anyway, after he was finishing up paying with his card instead, the lady had the audacity to say that he must tip her. It wasn't asked, it wasn't done in a way where it's appreciated but rather in a way where it's demanding or forceful. If she didn't do that, it would've been fine but because she did that, despite us liking the karaoke experience, we will not come to this place anymore. I know there are a lot of good comments about this place and frankly, I was one of those people initially, but hey, things changed and again -- it's so unfortunate that this owner or manager had to make things the way she did during our most recent visit for us to not want to come here anymore. Well, back to Gamba then. Or until I can find a better spot that doesn't passively treat us this way. read more

I went here for my birthday outing with friends. The ambiance is fun and lively with the lights. It can get hot in some rooms if there's too many people because there's not an air conditioner or fan in some rooms. Food and service were quick, tasty and affordable. No reservations required. Decent selection of drinks. The staff were very nice and fast in getting us into a room, fed, and drinking. They use YouTube for karaoke, so expect ads unless you're willing to log into your YouTube premium account and log out after your karaoke session like I did. They give you an extra five minutes after the hour session because they build in the ads for singing. read more

Was looking for a late night Karaoke spot and EMA was close by, so we came to try it out! We ended up staying for four hours, until closing. We had a private room for just two of us, at an hourly rate of $48. We also enjoyed lots of beers and soju bottles, and even ordered black bean noodles around midnight. The staff is attentive and very friendly. They had Korean songs playing on the main stage where the bar is, and also private rooms. They have a great selection of Korean food and snacks, and lots of drinks to choose from. Thank you EMA for a fun night!! read more

Wow, what an amazing hidden gem! My friend and I came across this place on a random Wednesday and it did not disappoint! They have private rooms and sometimes you can sing in the main room. Nothing fancy, but it has the basics and the lady at the bar is super nice. I can't wait to go back! Note: prices are slightly higher compared to the website. For example, the website said $40 for 1 hour for 1-4 people and they said it was $45 when we got there. read more

So much fun with amazing vibes and a super friendly owner Had an amazing time at EMA Karaoke & Bar! They serve Korean food and soju, which already sets the mood right. The owner is incredibly nice and fun, and really makes the place special. If you're planning a birthday celebration, this is a great spot. They even served a cute Choco Pie cake. They even give you a tiara to wear like a birthday queen, which is such a fun and thoughtful touch. We started in a small private room and had a blast, then moved out to the outside tables to keep hanging out. The vibes just kept getting better-- the owner started singing in the open area, taking song requests from customers, and creating such a lively, welcoming atmosphere. You can choose between Korean karaoke or YouTube karaoke, so you can basically sing anything you want. Great energy, great people, and nonstop fun. Great service from start to finish! The ladies here are super friendly and chill, which made the whole karaoke experience even more fun. The drinks were great, and the vibes were amazing--perfect spot to sing your heart out with friends. A special shoutout to our waitress, Haesoo--she was so accommodating and funny, and really made our night. They set up our karaoke room super quickly even though we booked last minute, and even had banners ready for the birthday boy, which was such a thoughtful touch. Absolutely terrible service. Honestly, even one star feels too generous. The way we were treated was completely unacceptable and ruined the entire experience. If you're going to run a business, this is not how you should treat paying customers. Management seriously needs to reconsider how they handle customer service and train their staff properly. I definitely won't be coming back and cannot recommend this place to anyone. read more

I visited this karaoke spot recently and I wasn't disappointed. Firstly, the atmosphere immediately feels calm. It wasn't as busy for a Friday but I enjoyed the soft surrounding lights. They have an open karaoke along with a few bar chairs and tables. My best friend and I rented out a room and they did have a few internet difficulties at first but overall, they gave us extra time to complete our hours we paid. The drinks were pretty tasty along with their food. The lemon drop was delicious that I had to go back for another . The service is quick and the women are very friendly. Came to get drinks at the bar while waiting for a seat a few doors down...and we loved the ladies so much we came back after dinner! MJ and Minji totally made our visit! Amazing experience! It was my first time doing karaoke and the same for a lot of people on the group as well. And we gad a great time here. What stood out to me is the service! They were incredibly communicative and accommodative right from when I called them first and helped me book and adjust by time slot for a Friday, and guiding me through how much time would be good for a group of 10. A few in our group reached a bit late so we were charged accordingly, and also got an extra 30 minutes given to us because of the same with constant communication while we were there. I missed getting the name of our main host. She was great, incredibly friendly. It was also a bachelor party for one of my friends so they arranged a 'groom to be' sash for us! The Karaoke experience itself was great. It was a YouTube room with multiple speakers and two mic's which we passed around. Maybe another mic or two would have been useful. Lighting and feel/vibe of the private room was pretty nice. Drinks were great. On the outset they may look expensive but the portions were pretty good and they were pretty concentrated (in terms of the cocktails). Some of the drinks we had were the Lemon drop, the Moscow mule, and the Terra beer. Food - Onion rings and the fries (free with a review!) were pretty well made and not too oily. The nachos were fine. We couldn't finish the food since we were there only for two hours and the nachos came a bit late. Parking tip - remove the buckets and park wherever it says Ema Karaoke. There's also parking just before you enter the complex where Ema karaoke is, a little bit before just parallel to this complex. This is what they told us and some of the group parked there. Didn't happen to click any food pictures. :( I expect to be back soon and reserve for longer next time. read more

This place is great. The service is so fast and amazing. Our hostess was so attentive and helpful. It was two of our cousins birthday and they even decorated the room and had little cakes. We had around 20 people and we fit in the room comfortably. There's a fan in the room that cooled all the people down but it was still a little hot. Aside from that the place is amazing and a great time. Serving sizes for the food is a bit small and a bit on the higher side on prizes but it paired well with the alcohol. They had a contactless menu for everyone to see what they had! read more

Selecting songs were easy as well since we would just search the song up on YouTube. The food here was also surprisedly pretty good. We ordered fried chicken, and tteokbokki. I've been coming here for the last 4 years and this karaoke place has never failed. They upgraded their karaoke system so we can choose any song on YouTube. They have 2 options to select music: YouTube and the old school book method. Essentially you can sing to anything! They also have a bar with a wide selection of drinks and food. Had a fun karaoke night for a friend's birthday! It seemed like all the rooms were filled since it was Friday ~9:30pm. Parking lot is really busy by 9pm. I had arrived earlier and found parking but then lots of cars were circling around after waiting for a spot to open since it's by Ondam. Snacks came out fresh, hot, and crispy (french fries, onion rings). The room was clean with a large table and seating all around. My friend made a reservation so they had us wait in the main area until the room was ready. There was a happy birthday balloon sign up against the wall which was really cute. It was a fun night and we sang until 12:30am! There's always a wide range of song selection for everyone since you can use YouTube for karaoke. read more

The food, drinks, service, and atmosphere was amazing! This is my go to place for karaoke, all the staff are so kind and helpful, especially Haeso! My husband and I have been here a handful of times either just the two of us or with a larger group. We've never rented a private karaoke room but we've enjoyed the community area for both awesome and not so great karaoke singers. It normally doesn't get busy until 10pm or after. If you're just coming to enjoy food and drink, I'd recommend coming around 7-9pm before it gets packed. Food: we've enjoyed the fried chicken, fried rice, spicy marinated pork, seafood pancake, and dumpling soup. All dishes were quite delicious but our favorites have got to he the spicy pork and dumpling soup. Prices are a bit on the higher side but it is a lounge/bar so it's expected. They have your typical Korean soju and beer but they also have a variety of liquor for your enjoyment. They have a gentleman with a really good voice singing and he does take requests for $5 a song (I believe). Overall, this is a fun place to hang out! Workers are friendly and they open late! read more

Ema... what can i say. She is the one I will miss most. I used to see her standing there in the corner near the bakery. Every night when I drove by, her eyes twinkled in the moonlight. For many years it was like that, just a passing glance as she stood there beckoning me to draw near. One night in autumn my heart fluttered. The rain kept pouring, like a thousand cherubs pissing down from the heavens. From then until now, she had been and will always be the who taught me what it meant to have family. Even now she welcomes me with warmth and understanding. When i was hungry, she fed me. When i was thirsty, she offered me drink. She laughed at my dirty jokes and looked away when my eyes began to sweat when reminded of past memories. I will always hold dear the sounds of her heart--- deft fingers serenading with trumpet and deep chocolate whiskey soaked vocals. She always spoke such soft serenities, her mysteries opening and revealing itself to me in soft, subtle, meaningful gestures... What a nice rooms and friendly staff. It was totally different experience from what I used to in east coast. Welcome to California! Just about every food on the menu seemed delicious. We had Unagi Kabayaki (eel braised w special Japanese sauce) and Tempura. They were done in authentic Japanese style. Drinks were relatively low price and Korean Soju were lip-smacking experience. I cannot thank Jenny enough for the west coast hospitality. Sound system were so good, it made my wife sounded just like Adele. Recommend and invite everyone to try their part time singing career at Ema, meaning "a love horse, or a favorite horse" in Korean. If you made a reservation for like 7 p.m. and you check in at 7:10, they will start the clock at 7:10 (this is good -- I've been to places that would start the clock at 7). Other than that, I was underwhelmed by the karaoke system. First, the system tablet is mounted on a wall in a corner of the room, so you have to walk over to search. A tablet that can be handed around would offer a better experience. Their karaoke system is confusing. I tried searching "Ariana" (Ariana Grande) and nothing turned up, but I was able to find her eventually under one of the lists of artists (and this issue repeated for multiple artists). We all struggled to find songs. If you want to sing Japanese songs, you need to search it in Japanese as the system is case-specific and will not turn up searches using English romanization. This would have been fine for us in theory since almost everyone in our group knew Japanese, but the same aforementioned issues with searching were still present regardless of language. Someone in our group had experienced this system before and helped us navigate it, but I don't think a good karaoke system should be so user-unfriendly. There's a QR code you can scan to browse the system on your phone, but there's a mismatch between songs available through the QR code link and what the system actually has, so some songs that we added through the link actually did not exist in the system. It's unfortunately that the song search was so bad, because the system did have a large Japanese song selection, including recent hits. They have YouTube, but unlike other karaoke places with YouTube there's no way to queue songs, so you have to wait until a song is done to search and play a new song. Because of lack of ability to queue, we resigned ourselves to using the funky system since that could at least accommodate queuing. We were charged a 15% service fee in addition to the room fee and tax. I have seen past reviews report different percentage rates for the service fee, so I wasn't sure what to expect. They write down the service fee percentage on a slip of paper when checking you in, so it seems the percentage might not be standardized. Right before filling out the slip, the person at the front asked if we would be consuming food in the room, and we said no, but we did have bags of takeout leftovers that we weren't going to eat while in the room. I think you can have a good experience here if you are OK with spending a lot of time dealing with the system.

Some hosts I've worked with in the past were not pleasant to work with. We arrived by 11pm on Saturday and security went faster than I expected. Music was great all night.
