This particular market has never really been listed very high on my shopping 'to do' list, but with some time between other shopping venues today, a walk-by and look-see at what was being offered, captured our attention to stop in for a closer look. Broccoli was being featured at a great price. And having some dinner plans in mind for the rest of this week, it was 'yea', when I found some very decent looking and priced green onions and Roma tomatoes. Thanks to this stop at 'Kin's', I was able to catch and fulfill remaining items on my shopping list for today's shopping adventure.

Looking for Organic produce? Of all the Kin's in the Tri-Cities this is the one with consistently…read morethe largest selection of organic produce. They almost always have the following organic items, celery, cabbage, beets with and without the greens (greens are a great leafy veg like chard), garlic and ginger. They always have organic kale, carrots, bananas and several other items. I've even found organic watermelon over this past summer. Once I found organic apples but haven't seen any this year. The staff is helpful and if you ask repeatedly for an item they'll often get it in. Prices are very competitive. If you are on a tight budget look in the bargain shelf at the back. I got a bag of tomatoes that were very ripe at a real discount. They are close to deserving 5 stars. Perhaps organic citrus and/or tomatoes would do it for me.

Anyways I came here today because I wanted to buy some supplements as I'm a bit of a health nut so I was in the vitamin/supplement section plus I wanted to use my gift card for something as this woman who I guess was working in the vitamin/supplement section approached me saying "Can I help you with anything or are you just looking?" I just felt awkward because her tone of voice was not friendly and when I replied "No, thank you, I'm okay, with a smile" she didn't smile back, just had a grumpy, bitter look on her face. I kind of felt more like she was suspicious I was going to steal something and I was being racially profiled rather than someone genuinely wanting to assist me. The young cashier up at the front was very pleasant and friendly when I went to pay for my item at least.

I would encourage management to talk to their staff, especially the young cashiers ( hate to be a curmudgeon ) that it likely would be best to halt their personal conversations while they are checking groceries. I was curious, and left with two shopping bags, and the store's reward card with me, just in case I was lucky to find some food 'captures' this time. Yay, both the bags and card were needed this time -- I latched onto two, fresh, good-looking, fryer chickens, and a couple of tubs of their quality margarine. While there, I did check prices on a few other items I routinely purchase elsewhere, and found them to be priced considerably higher. But heh, I was happy, and what I had found sure helped to make my visit a positive and worthwhile one, and contributed nicely to my morning walk.

Our browse was too brief and hurried -- due 'only' to our time constraints. The store, though quite small in size, sure looked well-stocked with great and wide selections of local and International food offerings. The many shelves, and various other displays of packaged, canned, and bottled goods inside, were truly-worthy of much more time than we had to give them.
