I love Igloo Frozen Custard, as it holds so many memories from my childhood going with family. Whenever I am in Lafayette, the Igloo is my favorite place to grab ice cream or a drink. The drive through is super convenient. My go to order is vanilla custard with marshmallow, strawberries, whip cream and pecans. I also love to order a marshmallow Coke; I know that sounds like an odd combination but it's my favorite. Their marshmallow sauce is the perfect consistency. Actually, their drive-thru is the only thing that is open right now, which sucks if you wanted to get ice cream but you also needed to use the restroom (hashtag covid, hashtag first-world-problems). So: Restroom, no. Ice cream (actually, frozen custard), yes. They also have food like burgers, chicken tenders, cheese curds -- if you're familiar with the food at Culver's, you'll be familiar with Igloo's menu. We only got frozen custard during our visit: a Turtle Sundae (vanilla frozen custard, hot fudge, caramel, pecans), an Aunt Kathy's Dirt Sundae (Oreo frozen custard, crushed Oreos, gummy worms), and a Rocky Road Sundae (chocolate frozen custard, marshmallow fluff and peanuts). Well for one thing it's open, therefore it's better than the original frozen custard however the inside was not permitted for guest and I had a poop alert. The bushes sufficed. Kinda a bummer you know. At least the vanilla custard and black raspberry sherbet custard was pretty thoroughly solid. The people that worked here provided the ice cream so that was a huge plus. So that is what I ordered, When I first tasted the cheese burger I knew I made the right choice. That was the best cheese burger I have had in a good long time. Pretty good frozen custard! I tried the dark chocolate raspberry. The raspberries were frozen and had a weird texture. I would be back to try their other flavors. I even picked up a pup cup for my dog! It was a dog biscuit sandwich with vanilla ice cream. My pup loved it! read more

Holy yum, the chopsteak cheeseburger and fries are tasty! Per recommendation of the nice guy behind the counter(whose grandfather started the business in 1932!), we also tried a "dirt sundae" with vanilla frozen custard, gummy worms, oreos and whipped cream. Another overwhelming yum! He was noce enough to let us taste the chocolate custard, too - they make their own cocoa for it and it is delicious! I just got a small blue slushee from this place and within minutes I know in my heart that this is the absolute BEST blue slushee that has ever reached my mouth. Words simply cannot describe how majestic this slushee tastes. It must have been made with the blood, sweat, and tears of Jesus Christ himself. Trust me, this is no overestimation. This Igloo has an indoor seating area as well as an outdoor seating area with a walk up service window. A drive-thru is also available. The expanded kitchen offers more flavors of frozen custard than the original, and an expanded food menu. You can still get the standard flavors, fruit drink, and nut bars sold at the original location. UPDATE: My previous review was not kind to the food items that are served. I stopped in for lunch recently and found the food items have improved. Billy Burgers are a new item on the menu. Served on a pretzel roll bun with a variety of interesting combinations of toppings. Fried egg available by request! There is a HUGE assortment of sides. Besides the usual fries or onion rings, you can sub in mozzarella sticks, zucchini sticks, and a list of other things so long I can't remember them all. During quarantine we wanted to walk here and get a drink. Knowing that it was drive through only we called ahead to see if we could do some sort of pick up situation. The worker over the phone was happy to take our order and said that once we arrived, to knock on the patio window and we could get our order there! Once we arrived we did just that, there were even signs that said the patio was for pick up only. Regardless of the fact that we were there for a pick up order, an older man (who we believe to be the manager) yelled at us in a rude tone saying that the patio was closed. We explained to him the situation and that we had called ahead and he huffed saying they're not even going to know you're here... after we got our drinks, they were not mixed well (they had marshmallow in them so it's usually not mixed) so we opened our cups to mix in the marshmallow. That same man came out and again yelled at us saying "you can't stay here the patio's closed". We responded saying we were just mixing our drinks because they weren't done properly and instead of apologizing he just said oh and walked away. We always enjoy Frozen Custard and wanted to support local businesses and be healthy and walk but instead of asking if we had a pick up order, he attacked us like we were misbehaving children.
