Super light and not too sweet. Oreos decorated the top with chocolate ganache drizzled over the edges. The cake box was very high-end and tied with pretty ribbon. My first time trying rolled ice cream! We decided to try a new ice cream place that is a little different from our normal places. It is located right around the chauncey area so the parking is limited but the nearby parking garage is open for nights and weekends. Upon entering, you are greeted with brightly colored walls and a display case that is filled with goodies. I opted for a rolled ice cream and chose strawberry lady. It was good but not the best or creamiest ice cream I have had. It was neat to watch them spread out the mixture on the frozen slab and then use the scraper to push the frozen puddle into rolls. With the rolls being so frozen, they were a bit hard to get the spoon through at first. If you haven't had rolled ice cream before, I would recommend trying it out as it is a different texture. The only reason I am removing a star is because they are a bit pricey. The macarons are 3 dollars each which seems a bit high. For us, we got two rolled ice creams and one regular soft serve and it ran almost 20 dollars. As for their teas, I cannot comment on them but I will return to try them too as I really enjoy bubble teas. read more

Happy to try another boba spot near Purdue! There are so many different flavors to choose from; I went with the classic Brown Sugar Milk Tea Boba. The prices are good and the packaging is cute. My drink tasted really good; I got 50% sugar and ice. I do think the milk tea to boba ratio was off, as there was too much boba and I couldn't finish it all. Although this place has a wide variety of treats available, I lean towards Ice Cream when given a choice. So, even though they have a counter with a colorful array of options to choose from other sweets, I decided to go with the Thai Ice Cream since the only places I know of in Indy have gone out of business. The shop makes the ice cream to order by using a frozen surface and adding the ingredients as you watch. But instead of scooping the ice cream into a ball shape, the ice cream is flattened and then sliced and rolled. If you want toppings (up to 3 with no extra cost) and sauce (1 free), they add them once the ice cream rolls are stacked on end in your cup. Sorry, this isn't the kind that fits into cones. Because the ice cream is frozen so cold, it may appear a bit dry until it starts to warm. It definitely melts in your mouth though, so don't give up on it. The rolled shape can also make it a bit of a challenge to cut through with your plastic spoon. But the flavors are worth the effort. Parking is always a challenge in the area when school is in session, but I timed my visit perfectly and grabbed a free spot on Columbia a half block away. I was so excited to see a new dessert/boba place open up!! I finally was able to stop in. The outside was kind of confusing since there were two doors and it didn't look like it connected lol They have macarons, cakes, rolled ice cream, and an extensive menu for drinks!! It's a cute store with an adjacent room that has limited seating. I was really craving some bubble tea and wanted to sample their grapefruit tea prior to buying one. Unfortunately, they don't do samples (reason being they make them fresh) - which is a bit of a bummer as I like to try out new flavours before committing to them and most places are good about it. I ended up going for a strawberry bubble tea with tapioca and popping boba (in mango flavour - they don't have any other popping boba flavours). Went for the medium size which is quite small to be honest, next time I'd get a large. I also found it quite sweet. I'd say it's a little on the pricier end... their fresh fruit teas (which come in one size) are about $5 but I don't know how it compares to other places in town. Went into this place for the first time and it looks pretty new. The ice cream smell contrasted that of the fresh paint/varnish/hardware scent. Price-wise, you get a 10% discount if you pay in cash, but the $6.50 tag for rolled ice cream was a bit steep, considering it costs less in Chicago's Chinatown. However, there was a considerable amount of actual ice cream, which was a bonus. Like a lot of other rolled ice cream places, Miss Sugar started with a plain base and added in bits of chopped up strawberries/blueberries, which didn't do a whole lot for the flavor. The teas also did not look like they were freshly made (most likely powder). Ultimately though, having a unique dessert place that's cute and sells rolled ice cream/macaroons will hopefully encourage other fun food places to flock to West Lafayette. read more

I really liked their green tea latte, although their large, which corresponds to medium in other places like Latea, was $6.15. Their thai tea tasted confusingly diluted and the buttercream in their macarons had a weird texture of chunky grains of sugar, setting aside the decent cookies. What really got me was this $5+ tiramisu which tasted like bland whipped cream with little sign of marscapone.
