After a long travel day, we checked into our hotel and was looking to get something to eat. We needed something within walking distance and IHOP was just a few steps away from the Holiday Day Inn we were staying at. It's always a little "sus" when you walk over and the place is empty. But it is a breakfast spot, and I am sure they are jumping every morning. We walked in and were pleasantly surprised. We were greeted by Miss Rachel and immediately sat at one of the booths. It's a small IHOP but it was clean. Miss Rachel was making sure of that as she was well on top of her side work. We ordered a couple of burgers, and chicken & waffles. Man did it hit the spot!!! Miss Rachel checked on us and brought extra napkins and a soda refill for the kiddo. As it wasn't super busy, I sang along to the music in true karaoke style, Miss Rachel did too. It was your typical IHOP experience. Great and sassy staff, crappy coffee with great creamer, lip stick on the coffee glass and hair in my food. The IHOP itself was super cute though. It reminded me of one my family always went too. Very small and all of the things going on at once. All in all, it is what it is. Don't have high expectations, but good for a quick pop in and out. I first reviewed this ihop almost two years ago with 5 stars, and I'm not at all thrilled about needing to give them 1 star with this update. Picture this: You and your plus one arrive for brunch and the restaurant is packed, but you're determined to wait so put your name down and are told it'll be about 15-20 minutes till they can get you a table. You take a seat on the bench and watch and listen to the hubbub. After 20 minutes, you get a table and, because you know exactly what you want, order the spinach and mushroom omelette with pancakes without hesitation. While you chat away and see other diners get seated, you notice the folks who either got seated after you or got their orders in after you all get their food before you, and there's still no word on when your order will come out. Naturally, this does not make you feel great, and you start wondering whether the server registered your order at all. You get up and look for any staff member to ask about what's going on, when all of a sudden, a male staff who appears to be a shift supervisor of sort starts corraling you towards your table. You start telling him that you've waited a long time and still haven't got your meal and that you've noticed other folks who arrived after you get their food already. Then, while standing over your table, the man says to you, 'You got your food right here. Here's your food' while gesturing and displaying a demeanor that clearly communicated, 'you sit your butt down and eat your food. We got you your food, so what more could you possibly want from us?' before walking away. Then a short while later, the server who was mun throughout this, came around asking if everything was OK. You say no, and her first response is that she's not going to apologise for what the manager said or did. Then she goes on to tell you that she already knew from the beginning that your food was going to be delayed because only certain staff in the kitchen can cook omelette. If I were the manager or supervisor, I would have led with a variation of 'hey, can I help you with anything?' instead of corraling me like you would livestock. I would have listened to the diner and apologised for the delay and perhaps help them understand the reason for the delay. And if I were the server and knew in advance that my customer's order was going to be delayed for whatever reason, I would have given them a heads-up. They say that you'll seldom remember exactly what a person said to you but you'll always remember how they made you feel. Today, two staff members at this ihop clearly demonstrated the don'ts of hospitality and customer service, and I remember exactly how they made me feel. I hope they continue to improve. I am appalled at the manager of this resident. We took my 2 children out because they love IHOP. We spent our meal listening to the manager argue with his employee and yell at the cook. When our food came out my burrito was cold and my sausage was undercooked. I left it feeling sorry that the cook was getting badgered by the man and I didn't want to send it back getting him in more trouble. As the manager continued to argue with his employee my children were getting upset. I spoke up and asked him to please stop arguing with his employees as there were children there and people were trying to eat. He then started arguing with me that he wasn't arguing and he is a grown man. I asked him if he was the manager and he said yes I told him he was inappropriate. He continued to state he was a grown man. We ended up packing up our children's food and leaving. As the prices of these restaurants go up you should be able to take your family out and not have to sit in a hostile environment. I will not be bringing my family back to IHOP until they hire professional and appropriate management. I am truly sorry to all those workers there that have to endure his badgering and belittling!!!! Was it Something We Said? IHOP. You either love it or hate it. Our visit to the Wolf Rd location in Albany pushed us over to the 'hate it' camp. As with many other IHOPs these days, the restaurant is run down which makes me question the 'excellent' inspection rating they have posted in the waiting area. Regardless, the restaurant was full and we put our name on the host list. Getting passed by on the wait list should have been a sign of things to come. It's bad enough when they skip your name. It's worse when they shrug it off saying the other couple was ahead of yours somehow which was a lie as I suggested the couple put their name on the list as they came through the doors after us. The hostess was wrapping silverware bundles and texting on her phone at the same time. I was sickened a bit thinking how cell phones are covered with germs (about 25,127 bacteria per square inch, The Seattle Times). As the next table became available, the hostess put aside her phone and silverware to seat us, provide us with menus, and then toss down two plastic silverware sets in sealed plastic. While I knew these would be clean, what IHOP uses plastic silverware? Our server was the only redeeming part of our meal. She promptly took our order, offered a good substitute suggestion of crispy potatoes, and answered my question about the plastic ware. She didn't understand it herself as she usually works in another location. She happily provided us silverware - unbundled meaning the text-happy hostess didn't grub them up with her dirty hands. We waited. And waited. We proceeded to watch three tables seated after us get their meals. One table even finished their meals and left before ours arrived...without our side potatoes. They would be another 2-3 minutes. I saw on the menu that IHOP now adds pancake batter to their omelets. I didn't think much of it when I read it, but I sure thought about it as I tried eating my Tex-Mex-inspired omelet. It was not a good match. My husband ordered a make-your-own omelet that included 'fresh tomatoes.' They were not. My Chicken Fajita omelet came with grilled chicken breast, Poblano and red bell peppers, roasted onions, and a cheese blend. I asked if they could leave out the bell peppers and was told they could not as it was already mixed. From the taste of it, the vegetables come in a bag that they slice open and warm open. They were watery, definitely not roasted, and lacking any real flavor. The grilled chicken was not grilled. There was nothing fresh about either of our omelets. We had a gift certificate for IHOP but wish we had tossed it. I do not recommend going to this IHOP or any other IHOP. read more

Here's the deal. We had to hit the Tesla super charger and ihop was right there so we did the dang thing. First impression was the guy at the counter was friendly and sat us instantly. Our waitress was super nice and very attentive. The menu was very expansive but more expensive than I would have thought. The food came out super quick and was really good. I had the fried chicken biscuit sandwich. It was really good and bigger than I had anticipated. The biscuit was so fresh and moist I had to use a fuel and knife to eat it. My buddy got a breakfast with eggs pancakes sausage and hash browned potatoes. He said everything was good and he had two plates full of food. Place seemed clean. Even though we requested it they did not offer or bring any flavored (strawberry or butter pecan) syrup and did not bring hot syrup until 20 min later and the pancakes were cold. I had the fajita omelet and in contrast to another review the chicken was pan seared, cheese was melted, vegetables had some crunch. This IHOP (IHOb) is one of the older restaurants in the chain with the classic big blue apex roof, not the cleanest one I've been to, but I still enjoy the good hearty breakfasts served here. The Breakfast menu is served all day and they also have regular menu offering burgers, sandwiches, salads, soups, baskets, dinner platters, and desserts. Kids and Senior menus available. My family will sometimes go out to breakfast here when I'm in the area. I enjoy the blueberry cheese blitzes, omelettes, and hash browns with a hot cup of coffee. Permutations and combinations! How many ways can you combine eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage, hash browns, toast, waffles, steak, biscuits, and fruit? Would you believe 11 pages in a menu? This excludes oatmeal, sandwiches, dinners, appetizers, soups & salads, and desserts which make up about another half-dozen pages at an IHOP. I'm usually passing an IHOP at a VERY non-breakfast hour and witness an empty parking lot. This day was no exception. A craving for French Toast at mid-afternoon after a medical procedure that required approximately 24 hours of fasting was the reason for this visit. Probably 10 years since our last one. A very friendly and perky waitress greeted us, the only customers, and seated us in a booth with a grasshopper on the window - no problem, it was on the outside. A fresh carafe of coffee was immediately brought to the table as we started to study the menu... pictures and descriptions. Near the back of the menu, near the very back of the menu, I found a page titled "55+". Knowing that there was no way I would be asked for an ID, I decided to order the "Two x Two x Two" ($7.79) - two buttermilk pancakes, two eggs, and two bacon strips. The pancakes were light, flavorful, even more flavorful with their "old fashion" syrup, the bacon was cooked to a well-doneness, similar to jerky, that requires you to pick it up with your fingers and bite because even a knife would not cut it, and the eggs were cooked perfectly to the requested "over-easy." The "Create Your Own Viva La French Toast Combo" ($9.29) consisted of two slices of French toast, two eggs, hash browns, and two sausages. These eggs were also properly cooked to the requested "over-easy" and the sausages were the typical breakfast sausage that you get everywhere. The hash browns were the shredded potato style, over-salted and formed into a rectangle. As for the French toast, it was standard white bread, not much thicker than sliced Wonder Bread, that had not soaked up enough of the egg mixture before being cooked on the griddle. Adding their syrup and letting the egg yolks on the plate run into the toast helped enormously. The coffee ($2.39 /person) was actually, surprisingly good. I have no idea why the prices end with such strange cents. I rounded up from 2 1/2 to 3 stars. See you again in another 10 years. read more

It has been many years since my last visit to IHOP. Perhaps they've improved their menu, or changed cooks. It will have to be added to my list of breakfast go to places. I am sorry that I have been missing out on a good breakfast all these years. I ordered tea and a Spinach Omelette. The tea / hot water is brought in it's own individual carafe. Not a tiny refillable teapot, a 2.5 cup carafe filled with HOT water. The omelette is filled with fresh spinach, mushrooms, onions and swiss cheese then topped with diced tomatoes and hollandaise sauce. The spinach is key here as it is fresh spinach lightly sauteed then blended in the omelette and more spinach under the omelette. I opted for the fresh seasonal fruit instead of the pancakes. Yes, it is a house of pancakes, but trying to go a little light thought fruit would be better. Maybe next time I'll try the pancakes, a waffle or french toast since there are four syrups to taste!
