    Risotto with Shrimp
    Tracy B.

Spending a weekend away in the Lake George / Berkshires area with the hubby and wanted to find somewhere to try, stopped in after jumping on Yelp to find somewhere close that was cute with decent food. Decided to give a try. The place is a total vibe, dont let the outside and area fool you! It had been a long day by the time we got here, did the outlets all day long and I was coming down with a cold. Ordered a ton of apps, Crab rangoon dip is GOOOOOODDDD!!!!... Ordered Calamari that apparently I didnt get a pic of, but It was good also. I think we got wings, but I truly cant remember. I got the risotto, I didnt love it but the Shrimp were delish, it had a super strong after taste flavor that I didnt love but couldnt truly put my finger on, Hubby said his pasta was good, but just needed "something". Would def go back just not sure how often we'd be in the area. Drink menu was super extensive and they were great as well. Started to feel not well and literally had to take our food to go, the waitress was soo concerned and caring, it was great, and it was no fault of the food or theirs, I think it was just whatever cold I was coming down with that kicked my ass and I felt like I was going to pass out, sorry TMI... But the response was so nice and accommodating from the staff. Def worth a try, just be patient with parking, it was slightly chaotic, or that night we just happened to encounter all the people in the are who couldnt drive in tight spaces, LOL!

    Crab rangoon dip morz eggrolls

We had a reservation Saturday evening before visiting the Egg. The host was super duper friendly and he immediatelly brought us to a small two top in the back dining area. The wine by the glass list was limited and fifty percent was vegan. I ordered the Mosen German Reisling which is more sweet than I prefer but there were no other options. My guy ordered a brown beer on tap, i'm unsure the name. We started with appetizers crab rangoon dip with crispy delicious wonton chips. And the second mozzarella eggrolls. I would pass on the eggrolls im the future. The motz is advertised smoked but lacked a smoky flavor. The Harissa had the spice level simular to Heinz ketchup. My entree was a Cuban sandwich that did deliver some heat, well pressed with plenty of pickles. We would love to see a wider wine selection and a turn up on the spice and flavor for the appetizers.

The service and ambiance are perfect. We stopped in for drinks and appetizers. We got the calamari which was very tasty. The bartender was top notch. AMAZING bar selection!

Cooper Crowe has the best happy hour in the cap region. Half-priced drafts and $10 cocktails. You can't beat it especially as a beer person. They have friendly staff and the owners are lovely. Highly recommend. Food is creative and good!

Great spot in downtown Albany for happy hour. Loved their craft cocktails. Bartenders ate friendly and make great drinks. We tried the Cubano sandwich with fingerling potatoes. It was delicious! Loved the sesame seeded hoagie. Craft cocktails were great and only $10 during happy hour 4-6pm. The place has a very nice vibe and airy feeling.

    Medium to medium well steak.

First they are very nice folks here so understand it's not a personality issue but our server checked on us once well after our meals arrived. We both ordered the Pan seared filet medium rare and it came out medium well. Not even sure it was a Filet. It was thin for a filet. The mashed potatoes arrived cold and had some large undercooked not mashed not fully cooked bits in them. I would not dine in again. No apologies for the bad cooked meals. They did take off one of them the bill. Perhaps it was just an off night. We have lots of other choices so we can amicably part ways :-) Hope you do better for others and wish you success.

What a great place (one of the few that were open on a Monday.) good bartenders, friendly server who gave wonderful recommendations, the street corn pasta was amazing, the Rangoon dip was a cool variation but not my fav. And the schnitzel was a little dry and over fried but the construction of the dish was good. The decor and couch area give it a really cool vibe, and the manager or owner was helping out at the bar and attending to guests.

Really enjoy the happy hour at this spot, great drink specials and we usually share some delicious appetizers as well. Plus the added convenience of having a dedicated parking lot downtown is a huge plus! The ambiance is perfect for a date night or friendly cocktails. We usually split a bottle of wine or do some of the happy hour special cocktails plus a couple appetizers to share. We love the calamari and if it's on special you have to order the crab Rangoon dip! The bartenders are always super friendly and helpful!

    Pork belly bao buns

Nice place, feels upscale but still comfortable. Lots of beer choice (LOTS) and cocktails were interesting. All drinks were good, no doubt. Food choices were nice, very different, NOT 'standard bar food'. Nothing greasy to order, which was nice as I look for healthier options. Tried the cauliflower, had Asian type of sauce that was spicy ~ I liked it. Everyone did, so get 2 if you have to share. Lol. I wanted a salad, and it was good but large! I loved the pork belly bao buns, nice sauce on that. I was not sure if this place is supposed to be Asian or Southwest or what, not really a theme. I like that, but makes it harder to explain. Just try it for yourself. Try more than one beer, and for was DELICIOUS

Just down the street from Nipper is the Copper Crow. We found this place by searching for good cocktails in Albany on Yelp and Yelp did not let us down! We loved the cocktails! The Blackberry Sour was great and I love that they use aquafaba (essentially chickpea water) instead of egg whites in the cocktails ( the whole egg white in drinks thing just doesn't sit right with me). I also enjoyed the Rose is a Rose with gin, elderflower and guava nectar- light and refreshing. The atmosphere is also really cool and unique with stained glass, an interesting mix of plants and mid century furniture. I would definitely come back here, mainly for the cocktails and maybe some apps. We enjoyed the steamers and the bread a lot. The sauce was excellent. I had some croquettes which were okay. The green salad was nice and a good portion but not particularly memorable. We also got this eggplant appetizer, but this was the only thing that we did not like. Our group of three could barely eat 1/4 of it. I was surprised our server didn't inquire if there was something wrong because it was pretty obvious we didn't like it. They did seem in a bit of a hurry to turn tables over and we felt a little rushed even though it didn't seem super busy. Parking available in a small lot at the restaurant. Look forward to returning here for drinks again.

    Duck Banh Mi
    Jennifer L.

Came here for dinner and drinks with a couple of friends and enjoyed ourselves! We had some glasses of wine and they had a nice selection. The espresso martini here is also really good. I also had the Duck Banh Mi which was very yummy and there were a lot of cool food choices that I want to come back and try. It was a little pricey but we all enjoyed our meals. The interior was really cool and we were sat quickly as well.

It was very good but I have to admit I ordered because I liked the butterfly on the can. I actually liked my friend's dark smoked beer even better. Wayward Lane Brewing's Lifeblood looked like stout and tasted a bit like smoked bacon to me even though it was supposed to feature notes of toasted brown bread and caramelized sugar. My friend also had truffle ( mushroom) fries and a smash burger. He loved the meal. Dove & Deer is a pretty place. Attractive furniture and light fixtures. Big windows. The street corn flatbread has a strong spicy kick and reminded me of the Indian-style pizza I enjoyed back home in India. The peach salmon was another standout, with the lemon-flavored rice adding a unique touch. And the Chocolate Cookie Skillet is an absolute must-have! Other highlights include the stuffed mushrooms, truffle parm fries, and tiramisu, and the service was quite good as well. Dove + Deer is definitely an excellent option to explore if you're in the Albany area.

I'll be honest - my heart sank as we got there, I almost cried. The neighborhood is *sketch*. The outside of the restaurant didn't look like much - but I felt better once we got in. Beautifully decorated with great lighting, lounge-style atmosphere. Great Latin music. We sat on the bar side as it was less busy. Beautiful bar with lots of options! Bartender made us **amazing** margaritas... omg were they strong! Loved it! Since we had never been there before, we played it safe. First we went with a fried calamari appetizer - not the best, but not bad - but then it's not typically something you'd order at a Mexican food restaurant. Boyfriend had the street steak tacos as main - hold the cheese as he forgot his lactaid, lol - and I had the steak quesadilla. Delicious! We loved it. The steak was especially well seasoned, not overcooked and sides were yummy. We ended the evening with churros - definitely homemade and on par with the ones we love at El Mirador in NH. Boyfriend even took his life in his hands and had some of the ice cream, couldn't resist - it was that good! Overall, as Boyfriend put it - this is absolutely a hidden gem type of spot - service was spectacular, food was delicious and we would totally return! (**Seated next to us were two young women on an obvious first date - girl #1 showed up, then girl #2 showed up a few minutes later with a big bouquet of flowers... what a nice touch! The building itself is impressive, although maybe not quite as impressive as the castle-looking building next door. Our party of seven settled in at the bar as there otherwise did not seem to be a large enough table for all of us to gather around in either the main lounge area or a small room off to the side. The dark wood paneled walls, large fireplace, assortment of easy chairs, couches, and high desktop table gave off a feeling of warmth and welcoming. The friendly bartender introduced herself (sorry I've forgotten her name) and informed us that spirit-wise, the bar was capable of preparing the standard, traditional drinks like Manhattans, martinis, etc. All beers were poured from cans, and at my request, she recited the names of about six that were available. I don't believe anyone in our party inquired about the wines that were available. The building simply calls out for an explanation of its history. Upon our request, the bartender offered to provide either the "brief" or "full" option. We requested the full history. She was obviously well up to the task. You would be amazed at the variety of things you could learn here. Just to touch on a few key topics that were mentioned, consider Alexander Hamilton's wife, puffed rice, Bab-o cleanser (cue up the jingle), Bishop Gibbons, and an orthopedic surgeon. I don't know what the normal food arrangements are in the Lounge. I'm guessing that our out-of-town hosts requested some snacks for us as a few bowls appeared with mixed nuts, crackers and cheese, fresh grapes, humus, and warm pretzel/croissant rolls, and a plate of prosciutto wrapped cream cheese. Overall, the atmosphere here is simply friendly and inviting. I think it will become an occasional gathering place for our local friends when looking for a place that is quiet and relaxing.
