I was in here this week to get some take out. It's been awhile and when I checked out the menu, they had some good meals on there. That day, I decided on the sampler. It's got pancakes, hashbrowns, ham, bacon, sausage and eggs. My only complaint was the meats were pretty salty-but all of those are salty meats. I saw regulars come in there. Lot parking. SUPER busy this morning and they seemed to be terribly understaffed for a Sunday morning. PLENTY of clean and cleared tables, but a 25 minute wait, with congestion at the door. I expect some of that because it was about an eight mile drive, however it was so cold it was inedible. I walked into ihop this morning and was told a 25-30 minute wait which we were happy to do. 30 minutes later multiple people who walked in after us were being seated before us. We asked the hostess where our name was on the list and she said you're on there but way far down. I had to look at the list it didn't make sense and she crossed our name off and sat 15 more tables after us. Which left us waiting to get sat and ultimately not getting sat for over an hour. Decent-quality IHOP. When you go to IHOP, you expect IHOP-quality food, and that's what you should expect here. I've probably been back 20-ish times by now. However, unlike some IHOP's where you'll wait for hours for food or just get ignored, this IHOP has pretty good staff. They're usually good about food out in a reasonable amount of time, refilling drinks, and taking care of the check. I was pretty impressed when I came during a dinner rush and still left within an hour! Service is good here. Expect standard IHOP-quality food, but you'll actually get that food and will get the drink refills you want as well. The bathroom is occasionally a bit on the dirty side. Bottom line..... NO CREPES. So we ordered something else (full price, no discount for false advertising) & 3 hrs later I was vomiting repeatedly. We visited on a Sunday evening and should have known it was going to be a not great experience when we had to stand at the entrance for several minutes before someone came to seat us. The service was very slow and refills were nonexistent. We ordered a side of avocado for the omelet, it never came out and the server never came back to table so we could not ask for it. Overall the food was okay, but in my opinion they are subpar to the above listed eateries. Staff was friendly and atmosphere was calm. One thing that stood out to my here was the friend we were with ordered a fruit drink of some kind and didn't like it. Instead of saying anything she just considered it a loss and didn't drink the rest. First of all, the place is NOT closed. I was just there on June 5th, 2010. As expected, it was crowded and super busy on a Saturday morning. It's IHOP! To my surprise, we were seated pretty quickly. More to my surprise, the waitress got to us quickly and took our order. Even more to my surprise, the drinks came right away and our food arrived in no time! We've been to this particular IHOP in Ankeny at least three times now. It's an easy quick place to stop for a sitdown meal on our way back from Des Moines. Tonight we were greeted the moment we walked in and quickly sat down. A very friendly girl named Emily was our waitress. She got us our drinks and took our order promptly. It wasn't very busy in there for 6 o'clock at night. The food came incredibly fast. My husband ordered the split decision which was pancakes eggs bacon and sausage. I ordered the cinnamon French toast. The food was cooked perfectly and was delicious. The waitress checked on her several times and refilled our glasses in a very timely manner. She was very friendly and very courteous and did a wonderful job at assisting our table. We were in and out in under 30 minutes. The place was clean. My grandson fell in their store last night at at 6:40 p.m. manager's name was Charlie our waitress was named angel And they both just watched never came to help never came to see if he was OK. And it wasn't like he just fell and there was no noise When he fell he hit his head on a table knocking it into 2 more tables and sat they're crying holding his knee on the filthy floor. Customers were shocked and asked if he was ok but not 1 person from the staff including the Manger offered anything. I have never been so mad in my life! It's not just like we happened by there, we go to this restaurant regularly. They know us by name and order and to be treated this way is uncalled for.
