Came here for a large party (over 20) and it was amazing!! I'm only going to comment on my meal (but everyone in the party ALL enjoyed their meal & service) so with that being said: we came here for a party of over 20 and our service was top notch! No one waited longer for their meal or appetizer and everyone got their drinks and dinner accordingly. I ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp (not pictured) and it was a perfectly balanced salty sweet mix with the pineapple/mango salsa. The special was a 6oz steak Oscar style w a crab cake and that was a show stopper!! The crab cake was AMAZING: perfectly fried and seasoned were it wasn't fishy and overly seasoned with crumbled so you can taste the crab and aioli - it is a MUST! My steak was cooked perfectly (medium) and seasoned so you got that delicious melt in your mouth steak. Our waitress & waiter was amazing for serving such a large group and they didn't make us feel rushed to order and checked up on us. Highlight of the night was the owners & staff signing a card on our new journey & bday celebration to give us a special touch for the night. I HIGHLY recommend for large party cause they definitely made sure we were taken care of and the food was top notch!

    Oscar Style Chilean Sea Bass

This is my second time coming to this restaurant. The first time was end of February, where I tried their Oscar style Chilean Sea Bass, their Philly Steak and Cheese soup with their house salad with homemade ranch dressing. The Chilean Sea Bass was cooked to perfection, the lump crab meat, chef's kiss! All paired superbly with a white wine. If that wasn't enough, I somehow made room for dessert. You have to try their Créme Brûlée Flight. It comes with vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and espresso! I came in ready to eat. The staff here are extremely welcoming, accommodating and friendly. Josh (at the bar) took care of me then and tonight. Tonight's menu consisted of an 8oz Filet, medium rare, Oscar style steak. It comes with asparagus. I ordered a premium side of Gouda Hashbrowns and loaded them with mozzarella, Monterey Jack cheese and bacon. A house salad of course, to keep my figure right and dessert. A strawberry cheesecake. Josh remembered me from February! Top tier service! I hope I don't make this a habit, I'll definitely be back!

    Steak lobster shrimp lunch special

We went to Filet for lunch and it was the best lunch experience I've had in a long time. They had a special for $24.99 steak, shrimp and lobster! It came with 2 sides. I got the mashed potatoes and side salad. It also came with a warm loaf of bread. My steak and lobster were delicious and cooked perfectly. The server was helpful and friendly. My friend had the chicken sandwich with bacon and it was also affordable and delicious. Definitely one of my favorite lunch spots now.

Excellent. Great service food was all perfect. Not over seasoned prime rib was rare. The mac & cheese was excellent. The bar area is beautiful. Lots of great seating. They really hit a home run.

I don't know how this place doesn't have 5 stars- my wife and I wanted a delicious, romantic dinner and that's just what we got! There's a $20 corkage fee so we ordered a bottle of tribute Pinot noir and it was actually pretty good. Our server, (Carrington) was awesome with a voice so smooth, you would want to order everything. My wife got the 12oz New York strip adding Oscar enhancement with 2 sides - Boursin mashed potatoes and bacon Mac n cheese( both delicious) I ordered the surf and turf pasta and my 2 sides were wedge salad and Philly steak and cheese soup (both also delicious). For dessert, we ordered the cheesecake sampler- Ferraro Rocher, crème brûlée, and strawberry This is a new favorite in the Ankeny area and I hope this review will encourage you to try Filet Steakhouse!

Sirloin shrimp and lobster. August special

Love the environment here. It's cozy , yet lively. Our server Katie was amazing. She made recommendations for both food and drink. The food was delicious! We both had the sirloin lobster and shrimp. Everything was cooked perfect and the signature drink was a perfect compliment. We are already planning our next date night here! We were asked if we were celebrating anything and when we told them 22 years of marriage we were present with an anniversary card signed by the staff before leaving! Talk about a personalized experience. Even the manager stopped by our table to check on things! The level of customer service was above and beyond. I can not wait to recommend this place to anyone looking for a special place.

There were about 30 people in our group . They had already ordered the table appetizers before I arrived consisting of The Deviled Eggs with bacon, Artichoke Spinach dip and Crab Rangoon dip. All were delicious even though a bit cold from sitting for a while before they got passed around. We had 2 servers that I didn't get names but both were very attentive and managed the group very well . Everyone's orders were taken efficiently, I got the Frutti Di Mare in a white sauce with the seafood bisque soup. The entire dish was delicious with the exception of the bread, it was rock hard, but I didn't need it anyway . The bisque soup came out too cool for my liking but the waitress had a new bowl served at the right temp and it was perfect. I would eat a whole vat of that. The meal was great, shrimp perfectly prepared and fresh and snappy, plenty of mussels and a large portion providing a take home amount that served as dinner the next night too. I also indulged in a key lime pie because if rave reviews. I was not disappointed. Overall the place is elegant and classy enough for a suit and tie but still casual enough for shorts and flip flops. It will make for a nice date spot for an anniversary dinner. By the way this review was not written or touched by AI.

Clean bathrooms. Service: Super friendly staff that were rolling with the punches as it was absolutely packed. Food: OH MY GOD. So good, so so soooooo good. The food here honestly reminded me of my time in Ireland, this is the closet I've got to that level of amazingness without actually being there. Even the brown bread reminded me of many meals in County Clare. I forgot to take a photo of the corned beef and cabbage and potatoes but I will never forget them. Perfectly tender, and seasoned. Like probably most Americans, I haven't tried a lot of South American cuisine so I didn't know what to expect. I guess I was expecting something like Mexican food. Well, it's definitely a lot different than Mexican food. Peruvian food isn't very spicy and the seasonings are different, yet still tasty. There a big Chinese influence on Peruvian food, too. I got the Lomo Saltado, a popular Peruvian dish with stir-fried beef, onions and tomatoes served with rice and French fries. My husband got the Chaufa al Wok, an oriental Peruvian fried rice with chicken. The fries kind of threw me at first. I wasn't expecting that. The dish was very good and had a nice flavor. My husband loved his dish and thought it was delicious. With both of our dishes it was interesting to see how much of a Chinese influence there is. What my husband absolutely loved the most is their homemade horchata. It tasted different than Mexican horchata so he asked what was in it. Our server said it was made was cacao beans instead of just rice and cinnamon. It had a pale brown color to it, too. I also liked the seasoned corn nuts that came with two different sauces--a sweet one and savory one. We both thought the prices were a little high but not so much that we wouldn't come back. The service was very good. Our server was friendly and helped us decide what to order. She was very knowledgeable about the menu items. At the end of our meal both she and the owner (I think) asked us how we liked everything and if there was anything they could have done to make things more enjoyable. I mentioned that my food came out much earlier than my husband's so I was almost done by the time his came out. The owner apologized for the wait and we really appreciated that. They also serve empanadas, pupusas and tamales. We're going to try these the next time we come back. Someone at the table next to us ordered the pupusas and they looked yummy. We were pleasantly pleased with how tasty the food was despite being a lot different than what we were expecting.

So I went with his recommendation. First impressions: The place is small and nicely located in the District at Prairie Trail in Ankeny. They have adequate seating and were only slightly busy when we arrived (I would say it was at half capacity the entire time we were there) We stood at the reception location for a while before we were 'greeted' and finally seated. We sat for quite a while before the guy with the headset to came back to take our orders. This was the weird part - he was fine, but he spoke so quietly we were not sure he was addressing us or talking to someone in his headset. Eventually we got our orders in, and we again waited. Some time later the water showed up, then after another pause the drinks we ordered were delivered, and sometime later the food showed up. He even remembered the dipping sauce which I thought I was going to have to ask for. We ate our entire meals without once being asked how things were, and eventually after the food was all gone, he came back to unceremoniously plop the bill on the table, and after another extended period he came back to process the payment. All-in-all the interaction with this guy was 'just weird'. (It was suggested that he might be the son of the owner...) He was doing his job but there was absolutely not any extra effort put in to make us feel welcome, and the total lack any real interaction was off-putting. The overall appearance of the place was nice and appeared clean, the decor was fresh and classy. However the bar area around the kitchen was very cluttered and looked like it was being used for overflow storage and it was a bit chaotic and had lots of clutter. Please forgive the fact that I forgot to take pictures of the delicious food. I got into conversation with my friend and just forgot! It was a very well made traditional Gyro with generous portions of meat, fresh hummus and a perfect portion of super fresh tzatziki sauce. I ordered fresh jalapeños and they got that right too! The side of fries were delicious as well, seasoned perfectly, crispy and fresh, and the garlic sauce...well did not lack for garlic! Wowza!! Overall I do recommend this place for the food! I will most likely return and I hope that the service will be a little better next time around.
