I live right down the street If I could give this 0 stars I would. Took my brother for his birthday. Our waitress an older lady was probably the rudest waitress I've ever had in my life. Gets angry and assumes we aren't going to be eating, leaves us sitting for 20+ minutes not taking our order. I then order wine and steaks and her demeanor changes, the steaks are heavily over priced compared to competitors. Spent over $200 for probably the worst dinner I've ever had in my life. First, the food is amazing, service was fantastic. That said, there's the odd; the restaurant is at the end of a building that hosts a hardware store, the odd part? Three restaurants share a lobby/hostess. I honestly wasn't sure I was walking into the right place, but it's a minor thing (if you know about it). Now for the bad: like I said the food is excellent, no complaints there. But I was more than a bit surprised to see on my bill that I was being charged for mixers!! A double Captain & Coke: $8 for the rum, $0.50 for the coke?!?! Really? The $8 for 2 oz of rum doesn't cover the couple of cents worth of soda? On the menu you can order a side salad as one of your sides, but if you want extra dressing? That's $0.75. This is too nice of a restaurant to be nickel and diming your customers. read more

Amazing food. Fantastic and consistent service. The ambiance and atmosphere here are great. BBQ place on one side, seafood on the other and steakhouse with a bar in the middle. The steakhouse, you should consider no ball cap or shorts. Dress up a little won't kill you. The bar selection is great (Blanton's, Whistle Pig, Four Roses, Basil Hayden are typically stocked). Came here for a large party (over 20) and it was amazing!! I'm only going to comment on my meal (but everyone in the party ALL enjoyed their meal & service) so with that being said: we came here for a party of over 20 and our service was top notch! No one waited longer for their meal or appetizer and everyone got their drinks and dinner accordingly. I ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp (not pictured) and it was a perfectly balanced salty sweet mix with the pineapple/mango salsa. The special was a 6oz steak Oscar style w a crab cake and that was a show stopper!! The crab cake was AMAZING: perfectly fried and seasoned were it wasn't fishy and overly seasoned with crumbled so you can taste the crab and aioli - it is a MUST! My steak was cooked perfectly (medium) and seasoned so you got that delicious melt in your mouth steak. Our waitress & waiter was amazing for serving such a large group and they didn't make us feel rushed to order and checked up on us. Highlight of the night was the owners & staff signing a card on our new journey & bday celebration to give us a special touch for the night. This is my second time coming to this restaurant. The first time was end of February, where I tried their Oscar style Chilean Sea Bass, their Philly Steak and Cheese soup with their house salad with homemade ranch dressing. The Chilean Sea Bass was cooked to perfection, the lump crab meat, chef's kiss! All paired superbly with a white wine. If that wasn't enough, I somehow made room for dessert. You have to try their Créme Brûlée Flight. It comes with vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and espresso! I came in ready to eat. The staff here are extremely welcoming, accommodating and friendly. Josh (at the bar) took care of me then and tonight. Tonight's menu consisted of an 8oz Filet, medium rare, Oscar style steak. It comes with asparagus. I ordered a premium side of Gouda Hashbrowns and loaded them with mozzarella, Monterey Jack cheese and bacon. A house salad of course, to keep my figure right and dessert. A strawberry cheesecake. We went to Filet for lunch and it was the best lunch experience I've had in a long time. They had a special for $24.99 steak, shrimp and lobster! It came with 2 sides. I got the mashed potatoes and side salad. It also came with a warm loaf of bread. My steak and lobster were delicious and cooked perfectly. The server was helpful and friendly. My friend had the chicken sandwich with bacon and it was also affordable and delicious. Definitely one of my favorite lunch spots now. read more

There's a $20 corkage fee so we ordered a bottle of tribute Pinot noir and it was actually pretty good. Our server, (Carrington) was awesome with a voice so smooth, you would want to order everything. My wife got the 12oz New York strip adding Oscar enhancement with 2 sides - Boursin mashed potatoes and bacon Mac n cheese( both delicious) I ordered the surf and turf pasta and my 2 sides were wedge salad and Philly steak and cheese soup (both also delicious). Everything was cooked perfect and the signature drink was a perfect compliment. We are already planning our next date night here! Came here for my birthday a few weeks ago, and it was great! Our waiter was hilarious and he had great recommendations. The drinks were strong and the energy was great. I had the surf and turf pasta (all surf) and the sauce was amazing. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food as well. Only thing was that our creme brulee flight (pictured) was smaller than we expected, but it worked out great since our server accidentally order us two. Tried this restaurant based on a co-worker's recommendation. Was not disappointed. Had the ribeye, mashed potatoes and side salad. Not only was the food delicious, the service was top notch too! The restaurant itself is kind of funky. Very high ceilings, gray walls, concrete floors and very basic furnishings. Not sure what I think about that. I can tell you that it is louder than it should be. Maybe adding some soft touches (I.e., sound deadening panels on the walls and ceiling, carpeting, or maybe more upholstered furniture) would deaden some of that. We just went to Filet for a second time and found it to be even more impressive than our first visit. During our first visit at Filet, my wife rated her steak as the third best she'd ever tasted. However, on this occasion, she said it topped that and was the best steak she's ever had. She chose the Filet Oscar Style, I stole a bite and can say it was the most tender steak I've ever had. With this, Filet has earned its place as her favorite restaurant in Ankeny. My ribeye was very flavorful and tender. However, it was the Bacon-wrapped shrimp that really stood out, they were very big and tasty. I would highly recommend as an appetizer. The staff provided excellent service and the drinks were tasty. The steaks are amazing. You could practically cut them with a fork, but they're so thick. You'll need a knife. Salads were great that came with the meal. Cocktails were handcrafted. Went to Sunday Bruch for mexican holiday today. Food was OK. Shrimp Fajita was the best to me. Prime rib was OK in flavor but not warm. Many foods were not as warm as they should be. Rice was undercooked. Not really worth the 39.99 per adult. Had 4 adults and 2 children age 5 and 7. Sad part is mandatory 20% tip on tables of 5 or more. I believe in tipping but our waitress got $50 in tips for a buffet. Serve some water and pick up plates. This is out of control. We were not her only table. Hopefully they share with kitchen. But even then this is a little high for a buffet serving just warm food not hot. Probably won't be back when they charge extra. Maybe the regular 29.99 price would be OK but will make sure no more than 4 at a table so I can tip depending on service and quality of food. read more

We finally made it to Filet last weekend and are glad we did. This restaurant is an asset to Ankeny with delicious and perfectly cooked steaks. Hubby had the filet and lobster and I had the filet and crab legs. The steak was tender like butter and so flavorful. The scalloped potatoes were also very notable! A large loaf of bread and a salad with yummy Parmesan dressing rounded out the meal! Our waitress was so pleasant and amazing but I didn't get her name. The best part was that this meal was half the price of the fancy steak places in Des Moines. Do yourself a favor and get there soon! read more

Portions small. one order was steak Deburgo and barely any sauce with not much flavor. Another was 12oz ribeye that looked like something from sizzler. At the price point there are many better options. Waitress was nice and apologized for the wait saying a big group backed up the kitchen. Would have been tolerable if they'd warned us at seating, manager would have been going around talking to us, given a deduct for is missing our later plans. Last night, we had a party of 6. The atmosphere and food were good, the service was awful and the reason we will not return. We showed up at 630, with a reservation and were seated right away To preface this, it wasn't busy. Our server delivered salads and soup to our table that were not ours, when we said something, he scooped them up and delivered them to the table next to ours... Definitely not sanitary. (this happened at least 5 times with appetizers and drinks). It became a running joke that we were going to say yes and start keeping the drinks because it took so long to get ours. He forgot multiple items after asking repeatedly if we wanted more drinks/bread/silverware/plates. We asked for drink recommendations, our server recommended a Tito's drink. It was fantastic, we asked the price, he said $10. When we got our bill they were $15 (price doesn't matter, it's just the principle). The bread was my favorite part, until our server delivered a fresh loaf, picked it up with his bare hands and placed the knife under it. At this point we literally asked if we were being punked and if there was a camera somewhere. Our server laughed and said he felt like he was having an off night. We did mention the bread incident to the manager and she said she would address it. Service is the reason people pay $45 for a steak. We recently had a retirement party with a total count of approximately 30 people. I was able to reserve an entire side of one of their two dining rooms so that we could all mingle and have a "happy hour" prior to dinner. It was nice not to have to sit down the whole time! The servers were very attentive with drinks and refills. Dinner service was amazing and the wait staff seemed so organized. Out of everyone only 1 steak went back to the kitchen and no other complaints from anyone. And did I mention how amazing the food was, from apps to entrees to dessert...delicious...so good no one bothered to take any photos! Another thing I have to mention is that the staff stayed over an hour plus past closing just so the party could continue.
