Very good management. Very unfriendly waitress acted like she didn't want to seat me since I was there alone, and I was not one of her regulars (as she put it). She actually did not seat me and instead seated two parties who had come in after me. Nice waitress appeared and treated me fairly. Manager appeared and recognized the problem, took care of it immediately. Waitresses should never judge their customers. Even when I dine alone, I always tip more than 20% and notice that it's more than what a lot of couples and families leave on the table. Just sayin' read more

Went on a Saturday at 12:30 pm with my family who came in town to visit. There are many empty tables most are a mess not even cleaned off. Took awhile for someone to finally acknowledge us at the front and we asked for a table for 4 and the host sighs and says it's gonna be a long while. When there are just 7 people waiting for a table. Their are a couple primary reasons I still dig IHOPs all these years later. The first reason greets you at every table - the flavored syrups. Loved'em as a kid and still look forward to the options to this day. Another reason is the crepes and while I worship the classic Swedish crepes, I've recently discovered the Classic Breakfast Crepe - with eggs, ham and bacon stuffed in and atop a couple smothered crepes! I have to gig them in one regard. I'm OK with people besides my server assisting where it makes sense. I'm OK with manager-types hovering about for 'quality control'. I'm even OK paying the bill at the table. But for God's sake, scrap the digital program that turns tables blinking red when you dally too long, forcing the server to come collect like an embarrassed grim reaper. The good outweighs the bad, especially when you factor In your personal pot of coffee instead of just a cup and what is usually consistent food and service...it's not quite Cracker Barrel, but, it's warm, it's clean and unless you are out in the interstates, it's usually closer. read more

We ate breakfast here this morning with the grandkids and we did it without having reservations Like Fort Jesse café. The grandkids had chocolate chip pancakes and hot chocolate with whip cream. The adult food was good and so was the grandkids food and the waitress was very kind. We do not have to wait long to get into the restaurant or to be seated, and the food was out fairly quickly. We ordered the stuffed french toast and cupcake pancakes. They both delivered in the sweetness department. For a dollar you can add a scoop of ice cream (like you need more sugar) to your pancake - of course we did...lol. We went maybe around 10 or 10:30pm on Saturday night. IHOP in Normal was only seating people when the kitchen wasn't busy with online orders. We were told the wait would be 20 minutes after an hour and 15 minutes we left. Most of the tables were empty. We were at the top of the to be seated list for more than 30 minutes. The woman managing did not address the many people waiting in any way. It was like waiting in a line where another line ( online orders) kept getting in front so you didn't move. We won't return, but I'm certain they don't care. read more

This is one of our go to breakfast spots. I'm a pancake freak and IHOP definately lets me get my freak on! There's not a single pancake in the place that I don't get along with. A good basic breakfast that would get four stars if the average entree wasn't around $9. We usually go here with some kind of a deal and never have to wait since we're usually there by 8:00 a.m. on a Saturday or Sunday. Staff has always been friendly and the food comes out quickly. Of all the IHOPs I have been to, this one always has the most consistent pancakes. Always soft and a good size for the price. Eaten here many times, as there is no nitch pancake place in this town, so this is what you get when you're a pancake addict. My server this time was Melissa. She was super nice and polite. I feel I need to give her extra recognition because the table next to me had a lady who was extremely rude. Even so, Melissa stayed polite and always getting her what she needed. I will never understand how people can be so rude to someone who is serving them. Anyway, food was amazing and I devoured all 8 pancakes in no time. "Hey, I haven't been to an IHOP in years. Let's go!" Words I'll regret saying to my wife and son for a very long time. Let's get straight to the point - every level of the experience was bad. The service, the food, the cleanliness (or completely lack of), the cost, etc. My son's order was messed up. My order was messed up. Hey, kids eat free though, IHOP clearly advertises. Not this time. My young son's meal was still on the bill. When we pointed this out to the waitress, the response we received- "Oh yea. Man. Well it's too late now." Overpaid for food of the same caliber as what one would find at a gas station. And did I mention how disgustingly dirty the walls and windows and carpet were? I honesty doubt that the restaurant has been deep cleaned in years, if ever. Think that I may be exaggerating? By all means, stop on in and give yourself a quick tour of the place. It took over 45 minutes to get pancakes and eggs. Tables seated after us were served before us. But more aggravating than that, our waitress didn't even bother checking in with us during our wait. She avoided looking at us every time she walked by our table. When my husband finally got up to ask about our orders since our waitress was ignoring us, 3 other staff members came over to apologize for the wait, but not our waitress. This was a very nice place for brunch. They have a very wide menu, and they're known for the variety of pancakes. Although as today, they said they discontinued the red velvet pancakes and 3 other flavors. Just ate here, Koren, our waitress served us our drinks in plastic cups. Giving it the benefit of doubt, I didn't question her decision, seeing that another group of (black) ladies she was serving before we came in had the same cups. Another group of older ladies (white) came in behind us, they had a different waitress and she served ALL her guest with glasses. When another set of (white) ladies came in, also served by Koren, they received glasses. I deliberately put napkins in my plastic cups to see if my refills would come in glasses (assuming they were finished being washed), but Koren returned with another set of plastic cups. When I asked why she was serving us the plastic cups she said the dishwasher was broken. When I asked how the other ladies got glasses she said they just so happen to get one. When I asked if she was working at a different sink in the back, she said she works on the other side. My question is, if she was telling the truth, why did she walk to another side to get glasses to serve white women but her black guest get the plastic cups? When I asked to speak with the manager Jenny, she said that particular location was short on glasses, saying they had "about 48 glasses". Today, this location was empty, I asked how many people were eating here today and she said "about 10". Again, I asked, how are there no clean glasses, but they're magically clean for everyone else. I would never return here. Never have I ever been disrespected in such a manner, especially by someone who works for tips. If they want to stick by their BS claims of the dishwasher being broken & / or only having 48 glasses at this location, then NO ONE should get glasses, plastic cups all around. We went here at about 8pm on a Saturday. The place was not busy at all, only about 3-5 tables. We were waited on promptly by a nice young lady who took good care of us until she left and handed us over to, I think, Ron. Ron never stopped by to check on us and our drinks sat empty for a long time. The food: First of all it took over 45 minutes to get our food! I ordered oatmeal which the menu stated came with bananas, brown sugar and milk. The server brought me a lonely bowl of oatmeal without the promised sides. When I asked for them, she said some people might have allergies so they don't serve them unless asked. Whaaaa? Anyway, hubby ordered the 2x2x2. The eggs were cold, not room temp, cold. The pancakes were really tough, I guess they were overdone. Otherwise the food was ok. Our main issue here was the (lack of) service. While we were eating we observed 3 tables walk out after sitting for extended periods of time waiting for a server. One other table persevered and was finally waited on....we would have left. Maybe this place is ok when they are busy? I will never go back, at least during the "down" times. There were 2 employees and they couldn't have cared less if we got our food or refills. Checking out was as expected, a cluster. Since we hadn't seen a server in a long time we had no check and had to ask the cashier to get it. Ordered off grubhub without checking the hoursand grubhub stated they were taking orders until 7:30, i get a call and a voicemail with 2 rude men in the background saying " what if i just tell her that you already shut down the grill. Wait staff seems to always be at odds when we come here. Food is ok but they manage to mess up our order. We keep coming back because it's the one place both of our picky kids will eat. Let me preface this review by thanking the management of this IHOP location. The deft and understanding handling of my issues raise this review from the zero range. First, to set the scene, it's early afternoon on a Sunday afternoon. Past any lunch rush and well past any breakfast businesses. We were seated immediately and we were able to place our drink orders in a reasonable length of time. But, after overhearing comments from an adjacent table concerning the speed of service, I extracted my trusty iPhone, opened the clock app, and started the stopwatch. Our order of a full stack of pancakes and brioche French toast took over 30 minutes to be served and that after the server cam back to double check our order and comp our drinks because the order hadn't been placed in the meantime. Fortunately, the pancakes were served as ordered. But, the brioche French toast didn't look anything like what was pictured in the menu that I ordered from. The most obvious point was the banana slices on top. When we finally got our server's attention - by asking another server for help - I questioned what had been served. I was told that the only difference was that they were out of the round bread pictured and in the menu. I accepted this and started eating. But, thanks to my trusty iPhone one the online menu, I learned I had actually been served some combination of regular French toast and bananas foster brioche French toast. Regular bread substituted for brioche and whipped cream omitted. Of course we were charged for the higher priced item. When I went to pay, I told the cashier that I would pay the full bill including the higher priced menu item that I really hadn't ordered. To my dismay, she insisted on bringing over the manager since this wasn't the first complaint of this type. I explained the issues with the order and the delay in service reiterating that I would pay full price as I had eaten what was served. I was informed that the staff should have known the brioche bread was sold out and I should have been told when I ordered and that the delay we had endured was inappropriate given the restaurant was not busy. The manager insisted on paying for our meal. His expressions of regret and dismay were echoed by the cashier. This was not my first visit to an IHOP and it will not be my last. IHOP is my go to breakfast place when traveling. The food is good an consistent. Service, with the exception of this location, is excellent. I hope the management at this location are aware of the issues and will be successful in turning things around. read more

They didn't provide the 5.99 fruit cup I requested and when I called in they were very rude. With my salad purchase they provided random sample sized portions to put on a entire salad.
