Worst service. Unprofessional, unorganized. GHETTO . greeted outside by employee smoking a cigarette inquiring whether or not I was placing a Togo order. stood at the front counter for about 5 minutes, employee came in phone in hand reeking of cigarette smoke asking if I had been help. I responded no, she stated that's a damn shame... came back saying my order was being prepared. Waitress came out 2-3 minutes after, cashed me out and went to get my order came back out and just handed me a box... no bag, no utensils just a box. Okay, I totally believe in second chances. But this was my second time at this particular IHOP location and again was very disappointed. I only came because my kids wanted to come... never again When I entered there were two sets of customers. A 2 top and an 8 top table. The 2 top had their food and the 8 top had already ordered. We were seated very quickly. Ordered our drinks, that come quickly as well. Then... it... started... going... down...hill Twenty minutes for someone to come and take our order. Twenty minutes. Three servers. Two tables, now three. Twenty minutes... Ordered our food. I ordered soup and this spicy chicken ranch sandwich, My kids ordered pancakes. About a half hour goes by before the 8 top gets there food (wonder how long they actually waited) About 20 more minutes goes by, my soup never came so I asked the manager that was near by if she new if there just wasn't any soup left or something because it was like 8pm and some times that is the case. She goes and checks and said that there was just the bottom left and that is probably why he didn't bring it!!! Wait what??? Okay well the right thing to do as a server would be to ask if I wanted a different kind of soup?? But okay that's fine, just ignore telling the customer. So no soup. By this time we have literally been waiting 40 minutes in total. And I was really just about to walk out. Not one person apologizes for the wait, not one person asked if anyone at my table would like a refill... nothing, no communication We entered the building at 7:35 our food finally started making it to the table at 8:45. An hour and 15 minutes for pancakes, my sandwich took about ten more minutes and my kids were literally almost done eating their food by time I started. ( did I mention I had to steal silverware off of other tables because I never received any) On the bright side we did finally get refills (only after finally having the opportunity to ask) the wait staff Is not very attentive at all and does not smile at all. I felt as if I was a bother to them rather than an opportunity to make some money. My chicken sandwich was soggy and the peppers way over cooked, and what I mean by over cooked is that I was spitting burnt pieces out of my mouth.. ugh after receiving our food no one asked if we needed anything or how our food tasted. No one came back to the table! After finishing our food and stacking our plates at the end of the table because no one cared enough to clear our table off or take dirty plates away as we finished. This then finally notified the server that we were done eating. We waited a long time for a check as well. It was 9:27 when we were finally checked out. Almost 2 hours at IHOP. Ridiculous I still tipped 20% because I was a server at one time and I realize this is how they survive financially. But I will not be back. When I was checking out the manager asked how everything was. I smiled and said just fine. If she was worried about how my service was she should have been on the floor helping the Waite staff, if they were Over there heads. That's what good managers do. Advice to IHOP: train your staff to smile and be attentive. You will loose more customers then you will gain at this location if it continues to be ran the way it is currently being ran. I'm Baaacckkk. I wrote a review on this place almost a month ago. Went back today, and although the last time I gave them 2 stars, they have managed to lose yet another star. From the time we entered until our food hit the table: 55 minutes. Wow. A new record for slow service. I've been everything from busboy/dishwasher to cook, head cook, and finally restaurant manager and never have I seen a business with such a poor service record. Asking the floor supervisor why this was happening I was told that they're having trouble finding and keeping competent help. I fully understand the challenges associated with building a proficient staff, but this problem has existed for a long time. This tells me that it's not so much an employee problem, but a management problem. If it's so difficult to find and keep good employees, perhaps they should look at the reasons why people leave. Either the work culture is flawed and doesn't promote excellence, or the pay/benefits structure is lacking. Something is causing the skilled workers/waitstaff to leave. Many places have long term employees that have no desire to go somewhere else to work. Why? Because they're treated as valued team members and appreciated for their contribution to the success of the company. They're also compensated accordingly. The consistently slow service of this particular restaurant will continue, but will continue without my participation. I'm done. I said before the food is good, but I have too many options to continue to tolerate this sub-par performance. Rant over...peace out. read more

The first time I came here the service was so shitty. I had like 3 different waitresses, and one of them told me she made my food? When ate a bite of my strawberry crepe it was cold, and the strawberries were frozen. I thought that was the last time you'd see me there. But I decided to give it another chance on free pancake day. My waiter was freaking awesome and checked on me very often. He made sure I had everything I needed. If every staff member there was like him, the place would definitely be better and waiters and waitresses would get higher tips. So my intention is for this message to not be a complain fest. I am a very easy guest to wait on but there are some things I encountered that I feel ownership and management should probably be aware of. I walked in around 3am and waited at the door for about 5 minutes which isn't terrible considering the time of night but a group of employees were sitting at a table in the corner of the restaurant and a few looked at me before one looked and got up to seat me. I sat at table 19 which is the first booth left of the door. I know because I asked my server Alex which table it was. My first indication something might be off was the trap and rap music that was playing. As a large corporation I am sure that this wasn't the standard as the music contained plenty of curse words and references to destroying the female genitalia. The music continued for about 25 minutes until somebody abruptly changed the music to what I can only assume was a corporate approved channel. I asked my server why the change in music out of curiosity and her response was, "I could tell him to put it back on". And she walked away. Alex was a very sweet girl but it was clear that she hasn't had much in the way of training or in shift coaching. I asked for a chocolate milk but instead received a hot chocolate. Again, I wasn't upset by this because who doesn't love hot chocolate but I did find the mix up a bit odd. I ordered the country fried steak and eggs which was delicious although the pancakes took an extra 12 minutes to arrive at the table. It was after I was 3/4 of the way through my meal that Alex asked me how everything was. I said good and was going to ask for a water but she abruptly turned the corner and left before I could ask. She rejoined her table in the back corner. The table would erupt with laughter every so often and somebody would remind them there was a customer in the building. I get it guys. It is late and I'm sure you don't want to be here...but that should reflect in the guest experience. Again I'm not trying to get anybody in trouble but if I ran the business I would certainly want to be made aware of this happening as there was clearly no leadership this late at night. The epitome of HORRIBLE service. I could write a whole 3 page essay about why this place has such bad service, but let me get right down to it. First of all, there were at least 10 clean tables open for about 30 minutes straight, with a large line of people waiting for tables at the front and not being served. Next, let's mention all the arguing between every single worker at the place. First of all, within the first 5 minutes of walking in, I noticed at least 3 arguments between the staff. While reserving our table, the staff member at the front desk completely cut us off while making the reservation, and proceeded to argue with a co-worker, and rolling her eyes multiple times after she left. Next, our waitress was super rude, and you could just tell that the rest of the staff completely hated her. For example, I decided to order a milkshake (I like to have one every once in a while), and the waitress told me not to order one because she obviously did not feel like making it, "It would take me too long, and you'll be out the door by the time I'm finished." Also, the staff member cleaning the tables, who, not to mention, helped us out more than our actual waitress and was very friendly, was for no apparent reason fired right before our eyes, after the manager just finished screaming very loudly at him in the kitchen. After telling the manager how much he helped us, she claimed that, "it was a personal issue," (shouldn't he not get fired for personal reasons?!? Geez, this place needs to get its s**t together!). This guy was so nice to the point where he literally apologized to us as he was leaving, and proceeded to tell the manager that she would be hearing from his lawyer (this guy must've had a good sense of humor, too). Moreover, I'd like talk about how the waitress would take hour-long intervals after each time she stopped at our table. We had to be somewhere after we ate, so we decided to pay the bill upfront and in cash because of how long she took to come pick it up. Once going to the front desk, she took our money and put it into her WALLET instead of in the CASH REGISTER, which was right next to her, and proceeded to give us our change back, again, out of HER FREAKING WALLET. But believe me, we were not the only ones pissed at the crappy service. In fact, after seeing the staff member cleaning the tables get fired, the two families sitting near us asked us multiple questions about what was going on (since they saw him at our table helping us out). They looked super pissed just like us, and we all had a damn good reason to be. Point is, I would never go back to this place EVER AGAIN. However, their food was pretty good, I have to hand that one to them. But I honestly would not be surprised if all the good reviews that you see on this page are by the staff members themselves. Wow, is all I can say about the management at this place. I don't usually leave reviews, but I had to come on here to say something after what I saw happen last night. This restaurant is located next to Mexican Fiesta, which is a very busy and popular local restaurant. Parking has always been a bit of a hassle there, but the surrounding businesses (Bank of America and Autozone) have always been pretty friendly about sharing parking lots. Well, the management at IHOP has put an end to that. On Cinco de Mayo, with maybe 4 cars in their parking lot, they TOWED any and all cars parked there that were not eating at their restaurant. People have been parking in that lot for 10+ years. I understand things can get crowded over there and they want their patrons to have enough spaces, but this was obviously done to make a point. As a business in the community, I'm disgusted with the way they have treated people just trying to go out for a nice dinner with their family and friends and enjoy themselves. It's obvious they have no interest in working with Mexican Fiesta and could not care less about burdening members of the community they are serving. Disgusting. I will never eat at this place again, until it's under new management, which works out fine because it's overpriced and the service sucks anyways. read more

Some ppl get lucky to find one piece of hair in their food and complain, I was lucky enough to find two pieces of hair in my undercooked hash browns this morning when I brought home my carryout. What an awesome clean establishment. I really wonder how often this place gets inspected for cleanliness. My eggs smelled rancid. I work close the this location and often we place carry out orders on Friday. Trying to get through on the phone is almost a joke! After finally getting through, I was put on hold for over half an hour. I got sick of holding and drove TO the restaurant to order my food. Three different people asked me why I was there before anyone took my order. She assured me it would be "right up" since I had waited so long on the phone. Food took over 25-30 minutes. It was only 7 tables in the restaurant including us, with 3 servers. Tables waited about 8-10 to be greeted & another 5 minutes for drinks. Half of our order didn't come to the table. We were done eating & our server finally brought the rest out. She apologized several times. It was only breakfast sadly. Plus the walls were dirty. I won't go to the Dearborn location though, because even with a parking lot that's never never more than 1/3 full with IHoP customers they make a point of towing anyone that parks there when the Mexican Fiesta parking lot over flows. My co-workers and I are nurses and had just finished a 14 hour shift and looked up online that this iHOP location was open for 24 hours. We called the restaurant twice with no answer around at 1250 am and at 235 am. When we all arrived to the restaurant at 415 am there was a new sign on the front of the building that said "NOW OPEN 24 HOURS." I noted that a sign on the door on a piece of paper said "closed." I entered the restaurant and there were workers sitting in the corner booth. When I asked them if they were open, they said that "the dining room was closed, but they were open to door dash." I am very disappointed. IHOP is one of my favorite restaurants. I am very disappointed in the service in the lack of not responding to the phone call, and the smaller sign that said closed. I would like clarification on whether or not this restaurant is open 24 hours. Please address this immediately, because this situation is very upsetting. read more
