Once again, we thought we would go back and hope for better service.... We were seated promptly and given menus. No one came, with water or asked what we wanted to drink. We looked over the menu thoroughly and then talked.... Nothing, no one looked our way. We were seated in a booth by the kitchen doors. Finally I got thirsty and said let's go. We waited a bit longer.. I got up and as we started walking, a waitress said "are you leaving?" I turned back and said yes. She said with a smile "okay" So no more. And there is no ambiance. Had problem with wait time and service about two months ago at the Ontario,Ohio IHOP. That was about 9AM and they were not busy. Decided to go back this morning, May 15 at about 8:30 AM. Not busy. Waitress seated us and said she would be right back. waited 10 minutes or longer. She was standing at the back of the room talking with another waitress the whole time . Decided to leave. The came up and asked if we were leaving. Told her yes because we had sat and waited for service. She smiled and walked off. Never going back again. Went to Bob Evan's which was a lot busier. We had a wonderful experience. I took my 15 year old son there for the first time and he was actually full when we left. Our waitress, Amani, was very attentive and accommodating. They were a bit short staffed for how busy it was, but the service was still good. We will eat there again. read more

I have never stood at the door for 30 mins in a restaurant that was "maybe" 20% occupied before! We were told that they had an employee "call off" so when we were eventually seated, we sat for another 30 min before we could order... after that we spent another 30 mins waiting for our "cold" breakfasts! First of all our server did not write down our order, to me that is very unprofessional she could have at least acted or pretended she was writing it down. The moment our food was brought out she immediately brought our checks out as if she wanted us to leave, very unprofessional you should never give checks so early into the experience. The eggs were undercooked and the yolk was sour? That makes no sense to me!!! How can an egg yolk be sour and undercooked!!! The sausage was either raw and pink in the inside or it was extremely burnt and hard... VERY unappetizing. The gravy was like porridge it was clumpy but very watery at the same time????? MY RATING: 2.5 ORDER TYPE: Dine-in MEAL: Breakfast MY ORDER EXPERIENCE: We went to this restaurant in the early hours after traveling a lot of miles. This was the only restaurant which was opened in our location at the time thanks to IHOP 24 hours service. I was expecting that the restaurant would be quiet and there would be no one at the time we went but there were still people at two tables. There was only one waiter in the restaurant who was serving whoever came in. The waiter made us sit in the booth, handover the menu and then eventually ice water. By the time our food arrived, there were no other customers at the restaurant so it was calm and peaceful. I ordered Strawberry Banana pancakes, which was an IHOP Signature dish. It comes with 4 pancakes with fresh sliced bananas and topped with glazed strawberries and more banana slices. I also ordered Hash Browns as a side. I also asked for additional syrup for the pancakes and pepper for the hash browns. As soon as the pancakes arrived, the presentation was mouth-watering and I was ready to attack it. It had a good amount of fruit on it and as I was drilling down, the pancakes did not seem that great and weren't cooked very well. They were out of shape, were not soft and some of them did not have the golden-brown outside but were cooked through. The hash browns were good with the pepper. As I was hungry, I finished the whole thing. The pancakes at IHOP are good and popular, but at the time of our visit, they weren't great. Food was good except bacon was supposed to be crispy and it was not and the hash browns tasted weird but waffle and eggs were great for my wife and I just got pancakes and they tasted great but the strawberry compote tasted like it was from a can but we were told frozen from a bag so there ya go crappy taste. Place was clean but they really need to clean their menus they were nasty and post Covid is not a good thing to have dirty menus. Stopped in Monday morning after the red eye from LAX with family. It was not busy in the least. Our family was seated in a large booth. I'm not a booth fan. Initially our waitress was pretty attentive; however, not so much near the end of our breakfast. I had the eggs and steak tips and my wife the 2 egg scramble. Other dishes ordered were the Colorado omelette and 2x2x2. Relatively large portions that needed additional seasoning. My eggs and steak tips were picture perfect and sunny side up eggs cooked to perfection! The tips had a sweetness to them that I was not particularly fond of. I was looking forward to the savory flavor of steak. We had to chase our waitress down for a container and bill. Only being here for 12 days, not sure we'll be back on this trip. read more

My daughter and I went to the Ontario ihop the other day, and it was a complete waste.if time and money. There were about 10-15 people waiting for a table, but half the tree restaurant was empty. Plenty of empty tables, but they were making everyone wait for close to 20-30 minutes. We were seated after about 20 minutes, but mainly because people got fed up with it and left. The greeter seemed pretty detached and somewhat vapid. We didn't get a good vibe from him. We watched him as we waited for a table, and he actually walked up behind another worker and embraced her from behind while she was trying to work. I couldn't believe he was so bold with co-workers, especially in front of the customers. Absolutely inappropriate behavior for the workplace. I ordered a cheeseburger, fries, and onion rings with a Dr Pepper. The tomato on the cheeseburger was thicker than the beef patty. I hope it was beef anyway. The fries were dry and a bit cold, and the Dr Pepper was really flat. The only thing that was ok with my meal was the onion rings. My daughter ordered a plain waffle and a Dr Pepper, which of course was flat as well. The waffle was very hard and she said it tasted really stange and she didn't eat it. She also ordered toast which came to the table hard as a rock and maybe 1/2 the size of a normal slice of bread. They charged us $42 for that garbage. When I complained about the meal, our waitress (Megan), who was very nice, brought the manager over to hear our complaint. She had this vacant look on her face like a deer in the headlights as if she didn't know that the food was really bad. She only gave us $10 off of a meal that would not have been worth the price had it even been edible. We are absolutely done with ihop. Never again. If you go, is your own fault. read more

Well , to say the least , the Ontario Ohio version of IHOP is not quite up to the recognizable standards of other IHOPS that you may have visited in your travels elsewhere . While the menu items are recognizable and usually cooked to uniformity , it is the service , or lack thereof that gives this particular operation it's black eye . There is an apparent lack of training from the bottom up , as everyone from the wait staff , line cooks , and even the current manager ( and I use that term loosely ) all operate as tho they wish that they were any where else instead of where they are . The waitresses present themselves ( eventually ) with Dour looks on their faces, and a seeming devil may care attitude , as they stand ( or slouch ) table side. ( Not a particular inviting way to greet the person who will be leaving your gratuity ! ) Wait staff Listening skills are non existent in most cases , as Meal Orders never seem to be prepared exactly as you ordered . Oh , the pancake and egg orders are usually ok , but when you stray from those basics , you risk a necessary " head shake " as you contemplate what has been brought on your plate . The meals are ok , and the facility is clean , and well appointed , and the fact that it's open 24 hour's is a plus .... but ......OMG ..... the zombies that are there to Serve those who wander in gives one pause about ever returning . Of course , the bad habits that I've outlined are all correctable and a decent wait staff will make all the difference in the world ! I guess that any server can have a bad day , so I will give everyone the benefit of the doubt , and to be fair , I will re-visit this operation in about six weeks and then post an updated review .... however as of this writing I'm rating only two out of a possible five stars . ( one star for the cleanliness of the dining area , and the second star for offering 24 hour service ) I might also add that things DO change over periods of time , some caused by the addition or deletion of wait staff , or changes in supervisory management , or even by altering former questionable practices ..... so the occurrences that Inspired this review could be a different experience in oncoming months . By all means DO Visit the Restaurant and draw your own Conclusions based upon YOUR own personal experiences . Here's an added postscript , just for thought : One would think , that any server , whose gratuity is based upon the pleasantness Of the dining experience , would go out of their way to make the customers evening out a memorable one . Here's a few suggestions : A smiling face , a kind word , knowledge of the daily specials , recommendations on good items that you have enjoyed , promptness in drink refills , clean tables , Just to mention a few , All which bring good word of mouth and return business , and in addition , customers who ask for YOU , by name , as their requested server ! If you're familiar with my reviews you know it's hard to get 5!! However IHOP has gone above and beyond to correct a mistake they made. I appreciate their willingness to fix a bad experience with an amazing one. My first order was incorrect twice, they replaced the first one and then took care of the next one. I don't understand the negative reviews. My daughter and I came here on a Sunday around 10:00. It's apparent that they are needing more staff, (thank you current administration) however those that were there were working their tails off and every person was professional. The place was clean, yes so was the restroom, our food was at the right temperature, looked and tasted great and came out in a timely manner. Our server checked on us and asked if we wanted drinks for the road. For these reasons I make sure I leave a generous tip. Why? Because I've been in their shoes. read more

My husband and I come here at least once or twice a month because he gets off work late and this is one of the only places open. This place goes through managers like no tomorrow. This is probably the first out of 10 plus times that the waitress was nice and had manners. I wouldnt reccomend coming here at all.... Every time I've been to this ihop, I've been disappointed. Today we waited over 20 minutes to be seated when only half the tables in the restaurant were in use. When we did get seated, we waited another 10 minutes for our waitress to take our order. Clearly, something was going wrong in the kitchen because the manager was covered in pancake mix/powder when he came out to help customers at the tables. When we finally received our food, our order was wrong. It took 10 minutes to get it corrected. When it was correct, we started eating and realized the strawberries on top of our pancakes were completely frozen. The personal hygiene of the servers was not acceptable. The smell of body odor and cigarettes ruined most of the appetites of those at our table and the tables around us. I wouldn't go back to this location. Very disappointing. read more

For a chain restaurant that is more recognized for it's breakfasts, I have had 3 disappointing trips to the Ontario, OH restaurant. The first trip, we had our family with us and ended up waiting 40 minutes to be seated, mainly because they kept allowing people to walk in after us and take open 2-4 person tables, rather than hold up the small groups until our tables were freed up. That made no sense! All 3 trips have resulted in bad breakfasts and I finally given up on it as a breakfast restaurant. Over easy egg order was always overcooked and the white burnt around the edges, hash browns grossly overcooked to a brown and black color and all fused together into a slab, and burnt toast. 3 chances were more than enough, will go there no more. read more

Food is usually good (we typically only eat breakfast items here - can't vouch for the rest of the menu), BUT the service is ALWAYS dull. Every server we've had has been slow and monotone - nothing friendly or inviting about em. We also need to ask for refills or the extra sauce we asked for in the beginning, etc. At one visit I had asked the price of a side chocolate chip pancake and was told she'd get the price, but ended up not coming back till the food was ready and the chocolate chip pancake on the tray, lol. She told me it was only a $1 something and figured it'd be okay (that price was fine with me, but NEVER assume) and I'm pretty sure it's Cus she forgot she needed to check the price - just be honest! We have visited this particular Ihop 3 times. Today being the 3rd & Last time. Our 1st time was shortly after they opened (advertising 24 hour & they were not, we only found this out when we arrived at 8:50 pm, ordered our food & were told they would be closing soon), we were 1 table of 7 & there were a total of 9 people in the store when we got there. SO a total of 16 customers & we were somewhat not pleased with our visit, given the fact that 3 orders were not right. Getting what was ordered was somewhat of an ordeal, the manager came over offered us more drinks while waiting for the Original orders...no need as we all ordered water. Our second visit was just about a month ago when our middle daughter & her family went to dinner with us. Again there were about 7 or 8 of us & again we made up about half the customers in the store. Both times mind you the other customers were already served & were finishing up their meals when we came in. ON this 2nd occasion my brother came in from out of State to surprise us & actually met us at this Ihop in Ontario, OH. Again they didn't get orders right. My brother was given a choice of soup or salad...he choose soup, chicken soup I believe. When it came, it was almost dried up in the small bowl it was served in.. he asked for a different portion of soup to which he was told, that's the last of the soup, would he like a salad....NO, he had a salad for lunch & wanted the soup. Two grandsons asked for pancakes, Choc Chip was one the other Blueberry, they received Buttermilk pancakes instead. Not wanting to waste food they ate them. Our oldest daughter who was in from ND, ordered all bacon in her dinner, (no sausage) she got the bacon, it was Xtra Crispy, not what she asked for & the waitress, said she was sorry but would have to charge her for another order because she substituted the sausage for bacon, Ummmm Why? she ordered bacon not charcoal, a couple of the others didn't mind the bacon & ate it. All of a sudden, Drinks started coming out to our table left & right, we didn't ask for any more Water or Tea, they just started bringing out the drinks at which point after each of us had 3 drinks in front of us I asked the young lady (not our waitress) to please not bring out any more & she was told the manager asked her to keep bringing us drinks....We still don't know why,,,,, THEN TODAY..... my husband, our 2 oldest grandsons & myself walked into the Ihop in Ontario, OH again because we had just helped a 78 year old lady move from her home & we wanted pancakes & French toast. WELLLLLL Guess what!?! We walked in & there were people sitting waiting to be seated.... no issue, I walked up & told them we were 4 & she said oh I can seat you now.... I looked around & said what about these people, oh they want a 5 seat they need a 3 & we have a 4 open.... OK, so give the 4 top to the 3.... oh they want a half booth. Ok, so we go sit down, 4 top, next to the glass windows separating the rooms & they were filthy, took note & was going to say something to the manager when we had a chance. We arrived at 1:05 pm, seated & given menus. At 1:14 we were greeted by our waitress, Desaray (?) Apologizing for not getting to us because she didn't know we were there. The house was full for sure. 3 tables were seated after us, two in the Half booth window, one in a center booth. 2 were received by their waiter & the other was greeted by our waitress. Before we could get our drinks, the table behind us in a Half booth already had their order taken, drinks on the table & the other couple were being served salads. WE did get our drinks, 2 water 2 Sprites, all of a sudden we have empty glasses, had been sitting there for a very long time, it was 1:47 to be exact & we had NO food, except the 1 order of French Fries that ALL 4 of us ate while waiting for our food. So when the table behind us got their food we got up & went to the counter & asked for our bill. 2 drinks, & 1 French Fry. The manager was less than concerned about whey we were leaving & took care of the bill. WE won't be going back. read more

Claimed they ran out of cups (probably were in that nasty room), ran out of turkey, majority of their grinch themed items, said they were warming up my gravy then brought it out 20 minutes later and cold, we ordered a burger with no bun (due to a diet) and the waitress said "I'll write it down but they are retards back there so you'll still get it" , ordered a steak omelet and it had one piece of steak and was stuffed with potatoes, ran out of hot chocolate, terrible attitudes and some of the workers seemed very unclean. read more

My experience was different than the others here. Everything was exceptional. I can say that I've been to quite a few restaurants in my time and never has every single detail been, quite frankly, perfect. The employees were the best part. I got their names so I could include them in this review. The 2 waitresses that helped us were Ziairra and Summer, Tim the manager, and Aggie the cook. Aggie made my over-easy eggs EXACTLY as they should be made. So many get it wrong and make the yolk partially hard which I don't like. An experience like this should be recognized. The only thing I would ask is that these people wear name tags so they can be recognized by others by name as well. Food came out quick and hot. Tim brought our re-up of pancakes before we were finished which was perfect. He was very attentive as were the others. Me and my god daughter had a great experience. Sometimes bad service can be a distraction from spending quality time with loved ones. Not at this place :) read more

A table right next to us had a group seated about 10 minutes after us - they were served immediately. Maybe we were the wrong color for the servers to notice. After 20 minutes, we left.
