Went for breakfast. 3 adults, 3 kids. Hostess set us in 2 booths. Her reason was back room with tables is for VIPs. Tables in main dining room were dirty, which they all weren't. The hostess didn't tell our waiter we were together. So he took one tables order and left. Grandson went and told him we were together, but he didn't understand what he meant. So he went to two other tables to ask if they needed anything else, brought out tickets and to go boxes. Then came to me and my two grandkids. I told him we were together and he apologized and said he would tell them in kitchen. Husband, daughter and youngest grandson got their food and was finished eating by the time we got ours. Husband wanted to leave but granddaughter really wanted to eat there. So we stayed. Rico was a good server, this left him a little flustered but he handled it well. Never saw a manager, which we always have one check to see how things are when we visit this IHOP. The VIP room was almost empty. Pre ordering: I had gone here this morning because I needed to find a place to have breakfast and this location is within walking distance of the Courtyard by Marriott. The bistro within the Marriott does not open until like 6:30 a.m., so earlier risers are kind of screwed there. When I got in, I waited about 5 minutes before someone had noticed. This was like at 6 a.m. in the morning, the only customer there. The gal, who came out, looked pretty tired and I said a hearty "Good morning!" She responded (which is always a good thing in a foreign place). I then asked if they were doing the BOGO Creppes that I had seen commercials on and she stated that they were. The only issue with this is that she claimed that one could order only what was on the advertisement. I think the other two not mentioned on the advert was the strawberry one and a Swiss one (or some Eastern European country associated wording one...it is on their menu). I decided on the breakfast and the lemon ricotta. The breakfast one was really good (hash browns, cheese, bacon, etc.). The lemon one, they serve with a slice of lemon (no chit!) and I squeezed it on the creppes. It was good! Presentation: I did not encounter much of what the other comments on this location had stated. Yes, some people can come off rude or with an air of not wanting to be there. I guess I kind of felt that with this gal, but who honestly does? It is creppe job (well, for serving me). I am not sure why people expect happiness and some high expectation type of behavior from employees. Maybe because Owensboro is an exception? I mean after all, it is the birthplace of Johnny Depp who gets roles in movies that require enthusiasm (Pirate of the Caribbean, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, etc.). I did get a good morning from a tall black guy employee (I only put his ethnic make up on here because he needs recognition if he is polite to other customers who come across this review after it has been posted). The order: The food came out probably under 10 minutes and I finished it under 15! I was back writing this review in the business center at Marriott by 6:30 a.m. The total with tip came out to $20. We hadn't been to the IHOP since the pandemic. It was always one of my favorites. At that time, we assumed due to covid, there were problems. We were seated, but were never waited on. After 30 minutes or so, we left and went elsewhere. Fast forward tonight after work ,we went there hoping things have gotten better. Not at all, we stood at the door , waiting to be seated. No customers were in the dining area, but there were several dirty tables no one had bothered to clean. A worker across the dining area engaged on her phone said it would be a minute. If I could give this a zero stars I would. Ordering was fast and simple, but two wait staff paid all their attention to one table. We were told there was a bit of a wait. Was there for breakfast this morning with my two grandkids 5 & 2. It was busy, not overly crowded. I had to ask two different times about our food - 30 min later it came out and both of the kids pancakes, eggs, bacon and sausage were ice cold. I decided I wasn't hungry enough for $2+ upcharge for 2 pieces of toast and cancelled my order. 5 min later I was told they could do it. 10 min later that the manager brought out the burger and said nothing to us. She looked mad. For the next 15 minutes I saw her run food to other tables and mine never came out. My son finished his burger, which he liked, My food never came out. 2 eggs scrambled, hashbrowns and toast. The simplest item on the menu. I assumed after that my food wasn't coming and I'm not sure I would want to eat it anyway. I've worked in the food and beverage business and I should have never reordered. Tipped the waitress a $20, paid the bill and walked out. Never to return. I have to say this was kind of a mess. I understand that COVID has thrown everyone for a loop but this was surprising and very unorganized. We ordered a meal for curb delivery.......paid for. Arrived at the promised time.......waited........waited.........waited........Finally after 15 mins I threw my mask on and went in. No one at the register. My son and several of his friends ate at this restaurant today. The waitress began by telling them there was a special on their pancakes. She told them they could get three pancakes for $.58. The entire group of boys ordered three pancakes each and then sides to go with them. When they brought their pancakes, they brought each of them four pancakes, which seemed odd to the boys. When they brought the bill at the end of the meal, my son's meal was $15. when they asked about the amount, the waitress told them that the special was only for plain pancakes and they ordered chocolate chip pancakes, which in their case would be a few chocolate chips sprinkled on top of plain pancakes. Anyway, the boys spoke with two waitresses and a man they believed to be the manager but nothing was done about it. I feel like they took advantage of some young guys and that is not cool!
