So glad this was our stop before going to Holiday World. We loved everything about the place. The antiques and posters on the wall were fascinating to for our whole group. The buffet was a great choice for us. I am not a big breakfast eater, but the buffet had lots of options for me. I loved the fried chicken, French toast and cheese grits. The kids loved the donuts and banana pudding. Our server, Judy, was busy but lots of fun, full of energy and super nice. I walked around and asked if I should find a seat or wait to be seated. Fine. Sat down. Waited for a good long while. Finally got a cup of coffee and had to scrounge other tables for half and half. Drank all that down. Waited. Still no menu. That's it... I'm going to Hardee's. There seemed to be one person working the entire place. Bussing tables, randomly flying from table to table with/without menus, half trying to close out a bill on another. There was what looked to be a very empty breakfast buffet set out. On our way back from Cumberland Falls to our home in Henderson, we decided to stop for a bite to eat in Owensboro and chose Windy Hollow Biscuit House. We arrived around 12:30 on a Saturday and we were seated immediately. Elliot introduced himself as our server and took our drink order right away. He was a wonderful server and did a great job. I took a quick glance at the buffet, which had breakfast and lunch items but we both decided to order off the menu instead. We both ordered biscuits with sausage gravy, Janet ordered eggs with a side of bacon and a sausage patty, which I ate. I added a side of country ham with my meal. Food arrived in a little over 5 minutes hot and fresh. The biscuits and gravy were delicious but I have the same complaint of their dish as I have most places. Very little sausage in the gravy. Other than that, top notch gravy for a restaurant. Her bacon looked really good and of high quality. Her eggs were cooked to her request and she thought they were delicious. The country ham was true country ham. Salty and delicious. The sausage patty I ate was also delicious and of high quality it seems. About two of those added to the gravy and this would be a 5 star review. All in all a very good place to eat and well worth your time. read more

Lots to choose from on the menu, but slim pickings if you're gluten free/vegan. I ordered "It's a Tater Mess" potatoes skillet, which was delicious, but not certified gluten free. My partner got some orders of their vegan sausage patties, oak milk gravy, and potatoes, and he said it all tasted good, but it wasn't a full breakfast. The coffee was good but pretty standard. The food and service here is exceptional! The food was wholesome, delicious, and the best kind of good hearty breakfast food. Our server was super on the ball and anticipated our needs before we asked! Also one thing that absolutely made my day is how they were super accommodating of my health needs without me even needing to tell them. I ordered the patty melt with the impossible patty and they made sure to clean the grill to cook the impossible meat, which was amazingly considerate! As someone who can't eat meat because of a health condition, this absolutely made my day. The restaurant is also fascinating to any lover of history. My wife and I had biscuits and sausage gravy with two over easy eggs and a cinnamon roll. The biscuits and gravy was not hot and the gravy was not homemade (package kind with very little sausage in it) and very salty and the biscuit was ok. We ordered our cinnamon roll when we placed our order and it took over 20 minutes to get the roll. It was hot but not fresh, dry. Not worth the wait. We had to ask about it 3 times. Coffee was luke warm. I am sorry but if you are going to serve breakfast and biscuit is in your name, then get it right, hot and fresh. Don't waste your time and go to McDonalds. read more

For me this place is fantastic food, service and where else can you go that the manager always greets me and checks on you , if you have any concerns about anything, they are there to listen to your concerns and properly fix it. The brown sugar bacon was tasty. The waffles were better than I make at home. The milk was ice cold. (It does matter if you like milk). We did not have coffee. The gravy was sausage gravy if you like that; I did not. The biscuits were more bread roll than biscuit, but still good. The regular bacon was just ok. Don't worry about tipping before you eat; Just leave money on the table if that bothers you. I tipped when I paid at the beginning. The sugared donut was good. The brownie was not. Have been wanting to try the Biscuit House. One & done. Went on a Friday at 9:00 AM. Had the breakfast buffet. No eggs left on the buffet, informed the waitress and she said coming out soon. They never refilled egg tray for the 30 minutes we were there. Bacon tasted sour & was cold, gravy tasted like a canned gravy, biscuits so so, fried potatoes uneatable-cold & chewy, Our one good point is that the fried chicken was good. Service was very slow & only about 4 other tables of customers. After we finished, the waitress said she would get our ticket. The service was a bit weird and unorganized, a lot of confusion between the staff. you have to order and pay before you sit down like a fast food joint. But the food was 10/10.
