My buddy suggested this place to get together for dinner while I was in town. Nice upscale restaurant with great food and drink selection. We started with the Thai Fried Shrimp and Crab Rangoon Dip. Both were excellent. For dinner, I had the KY Fried Shrimp and Grits and my friend had the One Pound Wagyu Burger. We both enjoyed our food and both were way more than one person can eat. Drove down from Michigan for a concert at the bluegrass hall of fame, met my cousin who is local and was telling me about the Lures oyster special on Sunday so before the show at 1:00 pm we stopped in and were told they were out all ready ( it started at 11) . We made reservations for 5 after the show as they are billed as the best seafood in the area . Saw a great show and went back for dinner we both ordered fish and chips, oops sorry were out of fish ... was advised to stick to steak... very disappointed , not with the wait staff or bartenders who got normal 30% tips but with management for being so Poorly stocked for a busy Sunday lunch and dinner read more

A Casual Seafood Restaurant with a River View !! I stopped into Lure during a visit to the riverfront area while in Owensboro. I was craving seafood and decided to give it a try. Lure is a restaurant in the Hilton Hotel serving Fish, Oysters, Pasta, Seafood and a few cuts of meat. The restaurant has a great ambience inside and a few seats available outside for dining. On this visit, I had some fresh and plump oysters followed by the Snow Crab and Lemon Ricotta Ravioli as I was in the mood for pasta. The ravioli was not too drenched in the past sauce and although a little light on the crab meat, they were able to pull off a very good pasta dish. Overall a great meal, a little on the pricy side due to it being a hotel restaurant and right on the river downtown but the food was fresh and made very well. read more

We stopped in here late on a Thursday evening because we had just checked in to the nearby hotel and were hungry. Our waiter was fabulous, very upbeat and attentive. We shared 3 small plates and all of it was good. We had the Scallop Salad, Thai Shrimp, and the Crab Cakes. I also ordered a half dozen of the East Coast Oysters and they were good - my only ask is that they would include a Mignonette with it, otherwise it was perfection. It has a nice, intimate vibe. Went here twice in two days while staying at the hotel. The food? Absolutely amazing! The first night we had the Shrimp Cocktail and not a bite was left. I had the Drunken Seabass and it was one of the best dishes ever. The skin was perfectly crispy, and added so many layers! My mom had the scallop salad or whatever it was called, and said the scallops were better than our experience at Hells Kitchen. My boyfriend and I destroyed the lobster Mac and cheese, it was so good! One complaint: the service was super friendly and understanding. However, it took over an hour to get our food. It was awful having to wait, and it happened to a lot of people around us as well. The second night I went in on my own. The crab Rangoon dip came super quick and was amazing. Will definitely be back to order! I had a difference waitress but she was just as nice! The ambiance is really laid back. I love the inside, it's beautiful. But I prefer to sit outside. I'll definitely have to stop by to try lunch or brunch someday. 10/10 recommend, good was worth the wait! Great atmosphere but overpriced for what it is. I met a friend there on Saturday night and we ordered three shareable. We ordered the smoked trout that was served with saltine crackers, for the price I expected something a little more elevated than dry saltines, heck even club crackers would have been better. The sweet potato fries were so soggy with the butter sauce that we sent them back. Our server was fantastic and we were seated quickly but the entire menu needs to be tweaked in order to be worth the price. read more

My husband, a friend and myself had 3 amazing meals this evening at Lure. My husband had a delicious pork chop with cheese grits, I had a petit filet cooked to perfectly with a delicious glaze, mashed potatoes and asparagus. Our friend had the crispy cod. We shared truffle fries. We live in California and love the various steakhouse there but this steak, porkchop and cod were the best we all ever had. My compliments to the chef. Our waitstaff, Kaylyn, was super! She checked in on us periodically, made great recommendations and was very gracious and had a lot of patience with us as we tried to decide what to order from a very full menu ! We all highly recommend Lure, a hidden gem. We had reservations for 5 PM, got there early, we finally got seated, waited 10 minutes and no one even brought us water. We decided to get up and leave. It appears that they did not have a lot of customers, and had plenty of staff. Most of them would walk by us and they ignored us. With the price of their food and drinks, I would expect to get treated much much better than that. And I'm sure that they would want a pretty good tip. Fortunately, they did not get any of our money. Sometimes bad service and food needs to be called out. There was a party going on inside so it was loud. We decided to sit outside. A few larger tables were seated out there. As soon as we sat down the hostess came out and said that table is reserved for later. That's fine except no one showed up ever! She was loving her authority. Our server had 0 personality, it was inconvenient for him to come up to our table. With things not off to a great beginning we decided just to get an appetizer, Thai shrimp. The decor is very nice but VERY dusty chandeliers. It was noticed by another friend at a different establishment. Proprietors need to consider these items as it creates pause for the guests. Ordered lobster tail and hot bacon salad. The salad is really good but needed, in my opinion, a tad more bacon, cheese & dressing (which they quickly brought over). The spinach was nice and crunchy fresh. As far as the dusty hanging chandelier balls, they haven't changed. The manager on duty last night asked me when I showed him my comments what I wanted him to do about the dust covered chandelier. My response was to tell upper management about the problem and clean them! Day #3. The burger is awesome as are the French fries. Dusty chandeliers are still an issue! Service was decent. Atmosphere was great. Noise level was ok. I had never heard of king clip before and I was excited to try it. They were out. I wanted some fish so I ordered the cod. They were out. My wife wanted lobster Mac and cheese. I ordered the same. We were with eight other people. A few ordered ribeye, fillet , shrimp, and one ordered a seafood sampler platter. My wife and I were the last to be served- and the waiter served me before her ! Then about three minutes later she received her food. I felt like the Mac and cheese was premade and ready for reheating in the oven. Stiff rigatoni with hard reheated cheese on top. It was supposed to have langoustine in it. There was a nice Atlantic lobster tail on top that was over cooked. Both of our lobster Mac and cheese dishes were exactly alike. It had a weird canned milk taste to the sauce. I was hungry and ate all of mine. My wife ate her over cooked lobster. Then she needed to take a walk outside for a few minutes because the noodles that she did eat upset her stomach. I can say that Kraft Mac and cheese ( and that's my least favorite) would have been much better than what we had. I'm glad I tried this place because now I know that I don't want to go back. We were seated next to a large loud group of people who didn't care about others around them so we couldn't hear each other talk. The manager didn't check on our area so we were not able to suggest that they move us to another area. Our server did not check on us very often and we had to ask for water each time we needed some. My husband took me to the Lure for my birthday and it did not disappoint! I ordered the 8oz filet medium well with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The filet was decadent, hands down the best I have had. The dish itself was everything I could hope for nothing lacked in flavor, the portions were generous and the food itself was cooked perfectly. This spot was something we stumbled on while visiting the area. I got to say, their drinks really stood out and we had such a great time. The only thing that bothered me was how long our food took to come out....it was a big dramatic of a wait and we almost left but decided to stick it out to see if the food was worth it. Stopped by for a after-work beverage with a friend after hearing raves about their food and drinks, only to be told there would be no room for us for over 90 minutes, due to "reservations." I counted no fewer than 13 empty tables inside and 4 empty tables outside. That's more empty tables than occupied tables. When we asked if we could have a table for just 30 minutes to grab a drink, the host nonchalantly refused to even TRY to make something work. He simply did not care. Or was just lazy. Our meal at Lure this evening was shockingly lacking given the price point of the restaurant. I took two of my friends there for dinner and received some of the worst service I've ever received at a restaurant. Not only was the food sub-par in taste and quality, our server barely gave us the time of day and was rude the few times he actually bothered to attend to our table. He even corrected my pronunciation of my order, which is rude in general, but even more so since I have a speaking disability. The drink I ordered when we placed the order for our meal was delivered much later after the entrees (they had to go figure out what happened to it, they said). It was also mostly ice. Our server disappeared after he delivered my drink, leaving us to eat our mostly tasteless meal. I ordered the Seafood Scampi Pasticcio, which was accompanied by 5 clams, 3 shrimp and no bread for the sauce. Lacking sufficient seafood, it also lacked any seasoning that would have made it interesting to eat. It mostly tasted like fishy butter pasta, which I mostly ate out of determination to not waste the meal. At the end of our meal, we waited for over thirty minutes for our server to reappear before I went inside to get our check. The bartender was kind enough to get him for me, but even then, the server begrudgingly printed our check. The waffles are extremely sweet, a very rich punch in the face. They're tasty just way too sweet. The hash browns are herbed up perfectly. The oysters were good but ask for lemons because they don't come with them. The crab cakes Benedict was good but it was like it had too much going on. The service was great. We made reservations and our table was ready with water and everything before we sat down, and our server was really on top of it. Overall, it was a solid 4 stars. Seafood is their forte; however, if you are allergic or don't prefer seafood, the menu is very limited. I would say the staff is not professionally dressed but several are very polite, accommodating, etc. The ambiance is great with exceptional, unique lighting; nice outdoor seating, as well! Lots of talent behind the bar with creative cocktails, good wines and martini's! When traveling to Owensboro, Lure is a must stop especially those seafood lovers! Great waiter. The restaurant is nice for eating lunch on the Ohio River. Not exactly next to the river, but you can see it. Ordered the oysters rumelade and found them to be a little small for the price ($17 for 5 oysters). Having had long experience with Southern oysters, perhaps I'm spoiled. My husband and I splurged for a date night and we were not disappointed! We got the pimento cheese toast as an appetizer (10/10 recommend, so delicious! I love anything with hot honey). I had the filet and he had the beer battered cod. My steak was perfectly cooked and delicious. He enjoyed his meal as well, especially the homemade sauces.
