Working in Owensboro this week and I heard about Dee's Diner, which has the best breakfast in town. I was craving pancakes so I decided to try Dee's for breakfast. The parking lot was absolutely packed at 9:30 on a Friday morning. I think I found the last possible place to park, parallel at the edge of the lot. I ordered a pancake, which was huge!! Also a couple of over-easy eggs. The pancakes was delicious! It was thin and a little crispy at the edges and had a very good flavor. It was served with a good size chunk of butter. My eggs were cooked to order. Service was very friendly and prompt. Considering that every table was full I was surprised at how fast the server brought out my food. When I paid for my meal the cashier mentioned that I had a "small" pancake but they also offered large pancakes. I thought mine was large enough! There is also a drive thru if you aren't able to dine in. All this and reasonable prices too. read more

Came here in the morning and the parking lot was packed, but we were still promptly seated. I got the Chuck's Choice, with bacon, sunny side up eggs, and fried potatoes. Everything was excellent, except for the bacon, which was barely warm. Also weighing on my review is my wife's omelette, which was quite watery. What a great place to stop I for breakfast. The staff were absolutely phenomenal. Pleasant, quick and courteous! They recommended their choices when asked without hesitation. My husband had Dee's rise and shine and oh my so much food, sausage patties, bacon, eggs, French toast and biscuit and gravy...he is leaving very happy! It doesn't look like much from the outside or decor but the food was filling, tasty and very reasonable. We were visiting the are and stopped at Dee's for breakfast. This is where the locals go. The restruant has lots of tables and we sat down right away. The waitress brought our coffee and juice quickly. Because we had been over eating I went for oatmeal and cottage cheese. The oatmeal was cooked just right. (Think of Mama Bear's porridge) it was served with a half a glass of milk, raisins, cinnamon and brown sugar. I finished feeling full and satisfied. Ordered fried chicken special August 6th, okra and mashed potatoes. Chicken was microwaved and dry (patty) and okra in form of balls was breaded and microwaved, dry and over done. Be prepared to wait for a table, but you won't regret waiting. It's totally worth it! My companion and I only waited a couple minutes, but it did take a while to get our food. Server was great about keeping drinks full. I ordered the Full of Bologna and he had Corned beef hash. All really good. Only sad thing was that they dont poach eggs. read more

Had a Kentucky version of Croque Monsieur that was wonderful (French toast melt). My wife had a veggie omelette and "real" southern grits. Great meals. In town two days and ate here both mornings! Noticed it when we first drove past then saw the reviews so decided to give it a shot. Definitely a diner and the clientele runs the gamut from old to young, singles to large groups. Restaurant has two rooms an older looking wood paneled one and a much brighter what looks to be addition. Older section has about 15 four tops and the addition about the same number of seats with different sized tables. We did have to wait both mornings, about 15 one and five the other. Folks seem to come in waves but they're pretty good at moving people through without making them feel rushed. Breakfast menu is large and it a seems they're known for absolutely giant pancakes. We saw several and they live up to the size billing but didn't try them. I had a single meat omelette - first day with ham and the next with bacon. Dish came with potatoes and a biscuit. Plenty of food and quite tasty. Generous ratio of meat to egg and the meat was diced so a knife wasn't necessary. The cheese on top was typical square American, not my favorite, but didn't detract. My partner had the hash one day and a meat lover's omelette the other and enjoyed both. Adding all the meats did make it way too much to eat. The only thing that might have knocked them down 1/2 star is the wait from ordering to getting the food is a bit long. Just when I thought 'hey, we've been waiting a while,' the table seated right before us got their food. So maybe slowish. They are however attentive with the coffee refills! If I had to guess it's just the logistics of moving food for 30 tables through the kitchen. We weren't in a hurry so was fine for us. I have been going here for many years as I discovered when you drive by a restaurant at 6 AM and it is packed then you might be on to something good. I usually get the ham and cheese omelette but they have a huge menu that has breakfast and lunch selections anytime. I highly recommend when in the area. The staff is always friendly and very little turnover in staff which lends itself to the good reputation that many other places have lost sight of unfortunately. if your looking for a fancy setting of zen and yuppie atmosphere then don't go. if you want some good vittles at a good price then give them a try. read more

We went here on the way to buy stuff for the house. We actually had to wait to park! Went in and found seats right away. I don't know how many people were there, but I'm just guessing 80. We were greeted right away at our table, then our orders were taken fairly soon. We waited what was to be expected for such a large crowd. 15-20 minutes? If it was that long, it didn't seem unreasonable. Our server was friendly and helpful. Our food was decent. I'd probably go back if in the area. Was searching for a brunch location today in Owensboro and came across Dee's Diner. Arrived via Google Maps and found ample parking. Entered Dee's and was told in a casual yet friendly manner "to take a seat anywhere". We took a table by the window and were quickly met by our server, taking drink orders and giving us menus. The menu is pretty big and loaded with delicious sounding breakfast and lunch items--all American fare! We settled on simple egg breakfast plates -- eggs, hashbrowns, toast; eggs, sausage, biscuit/gravy. All were very well prepared and with perfect seasoning -- even the gravy! We always try to find The best place to eat breakfast when we visit a city. We were in town for the GeoWoodstock event and found Dee's. We may have eaten there twice while in town. The service is great. The food is delicious and the prices are incredibly low. We both were stuffed for under $20! Be aware of the large pancake. It's literally larger than the plate!!
