Well, after a fun evening we really needed some food and everything else was closed, so we dined in at this IHOP. I was we had gone to McDonald's instead. There was only 1 waiter and the poor guy looked spent after a long day and no help. Then add 1 cook in the back. 4 full tables when we got there , add us and then add in 2 more tables for dine in. Dang. This guy is trying to take care of all of us as well as the cook. We ordered our drinks but I never got my water but thankfully I got my iced coffee. We placed our order and we got our food. It was okay. The sunny-side up eggs were overcooked, I could see the beef bouillon that was in my steak tips. My spouses Mel had overcooked sunny-side eggs and his bacon looked overcooked. The banana foster pancakes looked like it needed a desperate facelift like someone just gave up and put it together rather quickly. Now as for the restaurant itself? I have not been back for a few months but was quickly reminded why. The first thing I noticed was that it was very cold in the restaurant. When seated I noticed the booth seat was wet so I wiped it off. After sitting for a few minutes I realized that it was water from the vent above me because it dripped on me. I moved to the other booth seat and sat next to my son.There were 3 total tables including myself. The food came out and it was mediocre. My son's pancakes weren't done in the middle and my potatoes were sticky and pasty. My side salad came with half a cup of cheese. The gravy that was on my chicken fried steak was lumpy with flour. The server never asked if I would like more water. It was just not a great dinner experience. After getting the receipt to pay I didn't see her come back to check on us to see if we had our card out or not. She took our plates but never came back. I had to stand up next to my table to be noticed by any of the staff working. Then she said "sorry I didn't see it" and I joked back but she didn't even acknowledge that I even spoke. Bad service from waiter. Waiter barley seemed trained and had difficulty taking the order and printing our check. Was sitting in a corner booth that smelt foul. arrived to eat dinner at this ihop on 3/4/23 and I pulled up into a handicap parking spot because I am temporarily disabled with a broken tibia and fibula. I have a handicap placard but did not have it on my rear view mirror because it obstructs my view and I just drove 1,000 miles from North Dakota. (I am making a cross country trip to Houston Tx to get my surgery done) a server I was parked next to in a white early 2000's 4 door Silverado gets out of her truck with a smug and disgusted look as I'm hobbling out of the car. she tells me "you know that's illegal right?!" I responded with, "I have it because I have a broken leg I just haven't put it up yet." This server then starts strutting away and says under her breath "yea and I got a broke knee, whatever!" I didn't even make it INISDE the restaurant and already was disrespected and talked down to. I have never been talked down to like this in all my years. I will NEVER go to this establishment and I hope you do not waste any of your money on these rude, disrespectful, and unnecessarily smug people that they have working for them. We stopped in for brunch on a Sunday morning. They were packed, but kept the wait short. The service from Chris was spot on. We wanted for nothing and everything was brought out quick. The hash browns were the best I've ever had. They were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft but not mushy on the inside. It bland at all. Just the right amount of salt and pepper. The bacon was that perfect crisp that bites off just right. The over easy eggs were perfect. Not browned much or swimming in grease and a perfect yolk. My husbands chicken fajita omelet was HUGE!!, not greasy and absolutely delicious. We appreciated the manager, Tony, stopping by to greet us and check on our food and service. How can you go wrong with a place that serves breakfast 24 hours a day? Not into breakfast, then not a problem as they have lots of other options on their menu to choose from. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, and I will stop at IHOP for dinner to grab one of their great omelets. Their omelets are huge, made from 3 eggs and filled with lots of fillings. I usually go with the all meat omelet filled with all the breakfast meats: bacon, ham, sausage. Then topped off with Cheddar cheese and a side of salsa to give it a little extra kick. And as a bonus you get 3 of their fluffy and delicious pancakes. Service has always been great, and the food has been consistent and never disappointing. They are open 24 hours a day which is also a big bonus if you get a late night craving. read more

Giving three stars this time. The lack of air conditioning made for a very humid Breakfast experience; however, fans were going which made things a little more bearable. The restaurant maintained a decently clean appearance during the Lunch rush which I appreciated. Food wise, the omelette I tried was cooked nicely, though the hash browns were a bit crispy for my taste. I'm also unsure that I would ever pay $3 for chocolate milk again. Worst IHOP experience we've ever had. Waited too long to get seated and a timed 36 minutes for cold food. What a waste of time. Not sure if it's a lack of management or lack of skill on the waitresses behalf. I know this is a harsh review but it has been years since we've had such dissatisfaction. There were other customers who got there before us and they waited 15-20 mins before they got their meals. The a couple of older ladies that got their food before us actually apologized! They screwed up our online order twice. We went back because they didn't give us the right pancakes and didn't give us any of the bacon we ordered. They also had all of the pancake and French toast toppings thrown in the bag opened to where they spilled all over the car. Topeka's I-Hop location is one of the better places to go late night. It is open 24-7 and is run well in my estimation. They have security there, so you don't have the rowdy drunks disrupting the place. If you go after midnight, expect to be seated by a gal wearing a bulletproof vest and toting a taser. Don't let that put you off, but the first time it is pretty strange. The food is good and so is the service. read more

I'm gonna start by saying that I love IHOP. It's usually great food and a decent price. This is the worst IHOP i've ever been to. We got here at 6 and they had one server and one cook, despite us calling the day before and saying that we would have a group of 20 people coming. It took them 1 hour and 15 minutes before we got any of our food. The tickets were all wrong and we ended up paying for things that we didn't order or didn't have served to us. I'd certainly say better than most Ihops. It's nice to see a familiar face when you go to a restaurant. The design seems more secluded inside than the ones in Kansas city, but that might be my perception, a different layout (which I think,) or maybe it's slightly smaller. It sucks they no longer have croutons, but it wouldn't be fair to take a star away simply because of that. read more
