I used to like Perkins but that has changed. I would go to our Perkins and get an order from the 55+ menu that had Pot Roast and two sides. Pricewise it was affordable, but that has changed as it has gone up in price. Where you got two sides you now get one for the same basic price plus a little more that you were paying for two sides. I do not know the reason for the increase, but it makes me not want to return. Be aware when you go to the Topeka Perkins that you will be paying more and getting less. read more

My family hardly ever went out to eat and when we did we would pick Perkins for breakfast. I'm almost 53 years old and my inner child is still as excited! So there are some amazing people who work here and my friend and I stopped in after First Friday in NOTO and met them. We were so hungry and Topeka is limited on home cooking for late night that is healthy too. Love to go here, just never seem to have enough staff, and I wish Perkins could control people that go in there and have there cell phones turned up or others that go in and actually play games on their phones with the volume turned up. I don't want to listen to all the bells and whistles of your damn game. Went in on BOGO wednesday and it was a total disaster. Tables were dirty everywhere and understaffed, those ladies were busting their butts..We were so glad to get out of there, food lately has been burned the last two wednesdays and we informed them and didn't even get a "Iam sorry". I met up with a friend on a Friday for lunch. I ordered the everything Omelette with buttermilk pancakes and mixed fruit along with Coffee. My friend ordered a burger. Both meals were hot and tasted great. Lovely Christmas music was playing in the background and the restaurant was decorated for Christmas. Our waitress was absolutely fantastic! I wish I knew her name! My friend left her a $20.00 tip and I made sure she picked it up! I have seen tips being stolen by customers and co-workers over the years! Decided to give this location another go after my last experience was horrible. I thought perhaps their service had improved since my last visit. Last time I was there I had a server who was not only rude but extremely unattentive. My husband and I went in during the lunch hour yesterday. The hostess was very kind. After being seated to my dismay the server who attended us the last time was the same server I received. this time I made sure to catch her name. Christina. The snobbish attitude that comes with this woman is atrocious. She does not contain a bit of professionalism. She rushed us for our drink order, then took forever to bring them, she rushed us through our order THEN she couldn't even deliver our food. We saw her only once after our food was delivered by someone else and that was delivering the check. While waiting for our non existent server I took a trip to the restroom and she seemed overly occupied flirting with the cooks. Perhaps she should learn there is a time and place for everything and while people are waiting on you is not the time to be ignoring them while their food sits in the kitchen and they are busy thinking they are cute in the kitchen. I will NEVER return to this location. I will drive to Lawrence if I have to or just go to IHOP. I will also be sure steer everyone I know who frequents this establishment to refuse to return as well. very unpleasant experience. our waitress was named Brianna.. we asked for a seasonal dessert that was advertised on the table were we were seated ... she just looked at me and said "uhh ok". what was later brought out was not what I had asked for but something similar to it.. i understand it's only at participating locations but she could've easily just said we do not have this would you like something similar.. instead of taking it upon herself and not communicating with her customers. Stopped in for breakfast while in the area. This was a place I had never been before. The food was great! I noticed that everything came with 3 pancakes, even build your own meal. I knew I couldn't eat 3 pancakes, so I asked the waitress if I could just get 1 pancake. She was very nice I was able to get 1 pancake, eggs and cut potatoes. Usually this place is pretty good. I'll choose Perkins over IHOP or Denny's any day. But today I did a take-out order and my eggs were under cooked, bacon was soggy, and the sausage was less than warm. Also ordered a side of hash browns and bacon, I got my order, no bacon and a small portion of hash browns. Now, back inside to have this corrected (without knowing my eggs were undercooked until I got home). But c'mon, man! The food is good but nothing special. The restaurant is older but clean. They are following social distancing and wearing masks. The wait staff is a tad disorganized. We met here tonight for a business meeting and dinner. We had a back room reserved, and there was some confusion about our reservation that conflicted with another group-- and our reservation didn't seem to have been recorded by the Perkins. This presented a problem, but our waitress, Ashlyn, was phenomenal. She was thrown our enormous table without being told the timing situation (we had to be gone before an even larger group had the same room reserved). In spite of a ton of orders, and an even more packed main dining room, Ashlyn was attentive, professional and friendly. She met each new challenge with a heartfelt apology and a smile-- even when they had to move our sizable party to another room because our food took long enough to put us into the other party's slot (the manager apologized as well, and it was clear this was just an incredibly hectic evening.) I love Perkins breakfasts, and they are top notch-- as is the service that Ashlyn performed this evening. We will be back because of her. read more

Have been coming here for 30 years because my grandmother loved Perkins and it was her go to. Service over the years wasn't good but wasn't horrible. She passed away July 16. Finally decided to go today to have lunch for the first time without her. Cynthia was our waitress and she was by far the best waitress I have had EVER. Last night a large group of us (17) ate at Perkins. Usually we have good food but last night both my husband 's and my meal were burnt badly. We waited a very long time for our meals -- which may be understandable with a large group -- but burnt meat and a burnt skillet are not really acceptable. In hindsight, we should have just sent it back but we did not... If there is a next time, we certainly would not accept such badly burnt meals. This is a nice Perkins. I met my grandmother with my husband on a Sunday morning. I saw the parking lot looked packed but to my surprise my grandma had already procured a booth. Our waitress was friendly and prompt. I ordered the country biscuit breakfast: 2 eggs scrambled, 1 biscuit w/ gravy, bacon, & hashbrowns & coffee. Healthy, right? I splurged. The restaurant is kinda loud but it WAS Sunday morning so it's completely forgivable. The food itself came out just fine and was very tasty. The main problem I have is that I had problems in the bathroom starting about an hour after the meal. This is probably, maybe, not Perkin's fault. Eggs are hit or miss with me but this was pretty severe. I need to just cut eggs out of my diet but I love them too much! In sum, it's a nice Perkins and I'd go back (no eggs though). read more

My wife and I had a great breakfast here yesterday, a Saturday morning in May. Everyone seemed to be in a good mood, including our waitress. For some reason, I felt like having corned beef hash. So instead of searching the menu, I asked our waitress if they had it. She said YES and helped me order the rest of my breakfast. I shared some of it with my wife, and nobody made any fuss about that. (Some places do, you know.). We will go back again, because this is a fun place to have a great breakfast. read more

My daughter got a phone call at 6:30 am asking where were we!! They had a made a reservation on top of ours and I guess that group was more important because we got cancelled! The 10 of us spent the day trying to find a place we would all like to go to, but bottom line is, we wanted to go to HIS favorite restaurant!!
