This store is clean and the toddlers love going. It's a good time kill and free kids meals on Tuesday. It gets a little busy, but the employees are fast. The Bistro on the lover level also has $1.00 Frozen yogurt cones. Good place to bring the kids during the week and the vast selection of all things for your home is fantastic. read more

Customer service is horrible. They do not answer the phone. Instead there is an automated message stating that that there is a high call volume and they cannot take the call. I then go on the website so that I may chat with a representative and that was unavailable as well. I have a dresser I purchased from IKEA with a defective drawer. So.... my dresser is incomplete and does not look nice with a missing drawer. This is after waiting two months for my dresser to be delivered. I am very disappointed. read more

Horrible policies and crap furniture. You get what you pay for - cheap garbage. Linens aren't sewn well and are ripped out of the package. Furniture is composite glued wood. Pro tip - if your child wears pull-ups on long road trips, be sure to lie and tell them they don't, or they won't admit your child to the play area, even if they are fully potty trained. read more

I am reviewing just the restaurant part of IKEA in this review... I love everything about IKEA in the Twin Cities (8000 Ikea Way, Bloomington), from the layout of the store to the simplicity of the buying process, all the way down to the cleanliness of the restrooms. The café is probably the most underrated part of IKEA. We really like their food. The food is served cafeteria-style and some itesm are a la carte. My wife Kyrstyn is of Swedish decent and says that going there reminds her of eating in her grandmother's kitchen at Christmas. It's hard to beat a plate of Swedish meatballs (and you get 10-12 decent sized balls), potatoes with gravy and lingonberries for a mere $3. Drinks are extra, but also inexpensive. They have lingonberry juice in one of the dispensers on the soda machine. They have other Swedish favorites in the dessert line and they are also tasty and inexpensive. Even when this place is super-packed on a Saturday afternoon, service has always been pretty good. I've never had to wait in line more than 4-5 minutes to get my food. In addition to the "restaurant" part, they also have a market filled with yummy foods of Sweden, including cookies, candy, salmon, mustards, herring, drinks, meatballs... if it's Swedish they probably have it. IKEA is a great adventure and you can make a day out of it if you stretch it out right. It's great to be able to visit the furniture store, grab a bite to eat, shop for a few groceries and leave feeling like I still have some money left in my pocket. read more

Awesome store. Prices are good and the store is easy to navigate. On some days the store can be crowed so it's best to go early and later. The middle of the day is the worst. Ikea's Customer Service is incompetent, an insult to customers and the company is taking customers' money and not delivering our purchases. Starting on June 26, 2018 (today is July 5, 2018 I began calling to reschedule a delivery of an online order for $276.00 worth of book cases (the first delivery couldn't be done because our elevators were down). The one and only number you can call is 1 888 888 4532. Searching the web revealed only this number including working with the GetHuman site.Calling every day, about 4 times each day, I got the same message, "All circuits are busy, please call back at another time." HANGUP! Contacting with email is impossible. If anyone knows of another way of getting through to delivery scheduling please share. read more

Absolute worst customer service. Their business plan is horrible, providing one national number to contact any store, I called it 10 times in one day and couldn't even wait on hold. Just said try again later and disconnected. I was physically at the store and the product I wanted was on a high shelf. They refused to get it down for me since they only restock at night...meaning I want to give them my money, but I am forced to return, driving a long distance another time, in order to do so. I tried ordering online and continued to get an error message saying Click and Collect is unavailable at this time...keep trying. So, I can't pick up, can't order, can't talk to anyone. What is not to like about the shopping, however I go there periodically to meet with friends and business partners. This place is crazy. Wife dragged me along for a look. Its very busy but well laid out. You go to the top and work your way around the building and going from area to the next. Its laid out so all of one area ie kitchen, bedroom etc are in each area. They have alot of stuff and employees to help. Grab a bag and make your way around. Giving a 3 today because the staff member in the bathroom department was fantastic and really helped us find a creative solution. However, the order pickup process was as awful as ever. Last summer we waited nearly 3hr for a pickup. So this time when the helpful staff member asked if we wanted to get a text message when our order was ready, we jumped at the chance. But 4 hours later, no text. We finally drove back to the store 30 min before closing to find that our items had been ready for a couple of hours. Sigh. read more

We have bought sever things from the store without issues, the issues come when we return something. We have only returned 2 items to Ikea in Bloomington and have had to wait over a month the first time to get the refund back into the bank. My girlfriend and I made a visit here yesterday for a dresser. I'm not a huge fan of this place, it is family friendly, but it is an absolute mad house on the weekend. I would plan ahead, by bringing a larger vehicle to place the boxes in. The boxes seem to be pretty manageable sizes and weights. I got a Malm 6 drawer dresser that has 4 large drawers and two smaller ones on top. Anyway, this came in two boxes one was 50-55 pounds, and the other was 70-80 pounds. Very easy to handle with one person. It was quite manageable bringing these to my car, and also bringing them in my house. I did a little research and you should periodically tighten the cam locks(the little pieces that take the long screw and clamp the pieces together; from my understanding when these cam locks loosen over time, that is when the furniture begins to flex too much and essentially tears the particle board apart. Again this is my first day with the furniture so time will tell. This is a temporary furniture solution so I'm not going to be upset that a $150 dresser fell apart in a year or two. Be realistic when going here, this stuff is to furnish places for young people and is of cheap quality. Once you have a home, and are not furnishing an entire house, go to a quality furniture store. Get yourself some decent wood, that will last your entire lifetime, or at least long enough to pawn off on your kids for their first college place, etc. read more

Since I'd heard some good things about their 'Swedish' food, and saw some good reviews, I was excited to try it out. The cafeteria looks good, and the menu items are certainly low priced, but it's just dead nursing home style food --- no flavor whatsoever. We tried the salmon and the 'Swedish' meatballs, and they were just classic frozen-and-defrosted cafeteria fare...lifeless mushed-out veggies, dry tasteless salmon, poor meatballs, and some watery gravy mix. Ikea is a fun experience when you are shopping for a certain item, or just going to browse the decorating ideas. The huge selection of items is great just to wander through and browse. The prices are all very reasonable. Sometimes the quality of the furniture is a little low, but no lower than you would expect for what you are paying. Some of the tems I bought a few years ago still look like new. The checkout process (as previously mentioned) is sometimes a hassle. If you go on an evening or weekend make sure to plan for a long line at the registers. All in all I would recommend it! read more

I was inside the store and the customer service was terrible. The showroom had service reps, but when you got to the marketplace to pickup the items we saw on the showroom floor - you couldn't find what you wanted and there was NO help anywhere! So decided to order online - what a joke. The scheduled delivery for a Saturday had a 12 hour initial time frame, then there was to text to say the delivery wouldn't happen that day, then changed the text later in the day to say it would be there, by then I wasn't. I called to reschedule they said the next day it could be delivered, when I didn't hear from them I call the 'non'-customer service line, to be told the next day it would be delivered - same MO as the day before. Nothing happened that day either. Called them again, this time they said if would be delivered 4 days later and I should read their Terms and Conditions. What business does that! They stated something about a third company delivery - like that released them from any responsibility or accountibility like that was suppose to help me understand that this wasn't their fault?!? Over all IKEA is a GREAT store, but it's the customer service that lacks greatness. When collecting my order, my order number was constantly moved off the 'Order Recieved' And put into "Being picked." It has been being switched back and fourth for a while now it's many people that have arrived after me have gotten their packages they ordered. Rather than re-iterate what previous reviewers have said, I'm going to give you some Ikea tips. I live just a few miles away from Ikea and end up heading there at least bi-weekly. Take these tips to heart and your Ikea visit should be significantly less painful... 1. Best time to come is 30-40 minutes before closing Sunday-Thursday. Weekends are actually more doable than you'd think if you know EXACTLY what you are looking for and walk with PURPOSE though the tourists - don't let them push you around or slow you down. 2. Browse the website and figure out exactly what you want before you come. Seriously. Write it down. You might consider calling them if you are buying furniture and asking for the aisle/bin numbers before heading over there. Which brings me to my next point.. 3. Avoid the pretty display showroom area if at all possible. That's what makes your ikea visits into 5 hour never ending torture sessions. You want to stay in the "marketplace" on the bottom floor if possible. There's an entrance to the marketplace right past where you drop off your kids, kind of underneath the escalator. You can pick up whatever little accessories or kitchen items that you need, and head directly to the bins where you'll pick up your furniture. 4. Often the checkout lanes to the far left have shorter lines. 5. Sometimes Ikea does a deal where if you spend $100 you get a free meal. Note that there isn't a price or number of persons limit really on this meal. My husband and I have gone and spent $30 on food and had that amount deducted from our $100 shopping total. If you're in the mood for an Ikea food pig out (gravalox! chocolate bars! of course, meatballs!) it's not a bad deal. 6. Their rewards program ("Ikea Family") isn't a bad deal. It's free to sign up and you get special pricing on some items, and free coffee or tea. 7. If it's even a little busy, it will save you time to park in the huge lot across the street from Ikea (and MOA). read more

I used to hate this place when it first opened. Now, it has grown on me. You can get pretty decent stuff, for really cheap. I do, however HATE the show room. Not because it's not cool, or that I can't get some decent inspiration from it, but because it's like a damn fun house. I think that every time I've gone up there, I get super pissed off trying to find my way out. I went over the weekend, and skipped that portion, and found the experience much more pleasurable. It also sucks when it's really busy. I've taken to going in the evening, and find that it's relatively dead. I got exactly what I had come for, a super huge black & white picture to hang in the entry way of my house. For $60! Unbeatable, really. read more

2$ for a big breakfast?! Yes, count us in! We got there 10 minutes before breakfast was done. We were at the end of the line and still got what we wanted. The juice was cold and refreshing, nice not to have to drink soda all the time. Wasn't too busy or it was big enough to not feel busy until we got to the check out line. Plan for a long wait there. Buyers beware. Ikea may seem like a big, well-known, trustworthy company, but they have not provided a good for which I have fully paid and are not making it easy to seek recourse as a customer. I have had to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau today. Here is why: I just moved to Minneapolis and I went to Ikea to purchase a number of items for my new home. One of the items, a desk chair, was an item that you receive a slip of paper for, pay for at the till, and then go pick up at the pick-up desk. There was more than a two hour anticipated wait time at the pick up desk, and when I asked an employee if I could pick it up another day, he said no. After more than two and a half hours of waiting, my item had moved from registering to saying interminably that it was "being selected" but was not yet available. When I finally went up to ask, they told me oh yeah, your item is out on the floor with the customers on a high up stock shelf, and we can't get it down for you while the store is open. I was told to wait in the furniture delivery line and that my order would be shipped to me at no cost. They were unapologetic about the fact that I could have waited hours more without being any closer to receiving my item in the store that day. In the furniture delivery line, I overheard another customer ask if they could just come back and pick up their item another day. Incredibly, a different employee answered yes, they could pick it up the next day by noon. Frustrated, I waited in line for another 20 minutes, then went through their process for having a delivery scheduled. On the day of my delivery, I stayed home all day because my delivery was supposed to arrive between 10-2. I received no call to give me a 30 minute warning. At 2:30 I finally called Ikea. I was on hold for more than 30 minutes, then was told by the representative that my order would not arrive that day--that in fact, according to his records, when the delivery service went to Ikea's storehouse to pick up my item at 8:30am that morning, my item was not ready for pick up. Yet again, I could have waited all day and not been any closer to receiving my item that day. I tracked my order online and sure enough, it noted my delivery attempt had failed. I was starting to see a real pattern that customer communication was poor. On the next scheduled re-delivery attempt date, I stayed home because my delivery was supposed to be between 11-3. I received no call to give me a 30 minute warning. This time I was getting better at assuming the worst and looked online at around noon. I saw that it said my delivery attempt had failed today as well. So yet again I called Ikea, this time with a shorter wait time, and explained my situation to the representative. He put me on hold to create whatever paper trail was needed. I asked if I could please have a different delivery service, and also if there was someone I could speak with about discounting my order which was costing me literally hours of my time being wasted in lines, at home, on the phone, and online. He said sure that he would transfer me to someone who I could speak to about scheduling yet a third re-delivery and getting a discount. After being on hold for about 20 minutes, I was hung up on. Then when I called back, I received a message that "all circuits were busy." The same thing has happened again on the third failed re-delivery attempt for which I needlessly stayed home. When I call Ikea, their circuits are "busy." I have now filed the following complaint with the Better Business Bureau (complaint ID number 13040424). On August 25th I finally received a call from Ikea (and finally got the number of the local Twin Cities Ikea store: 952-854-8212). They offered me 50% off my item and they promised delivery the next Friday. Contacting the BBB definitely helped expedite my (I hope as of Friday) resolution. read more

I try and re-create scenes from 500 Days of Summer when I go here but seeing as I almost always go alone people think I am slightly weird talking to myself about how the faucets don't work. Oh I am in love with IKEA. Who needs therapy when you've got this goodyland. I want so many things here. I've picked out my future kitchen already and have had fake dinners in the dining area. I purchased an orchid for ten bucks and the blooms lasted a ridiculous amount of time. Love how cheap so many things are. One of my favorite purchases is my cheese grater. It's just such a good idea. It had a great handle and a little bowl-type thing attached to the bottom to catch the cheese. The food is so good. Well really it's not good but addicting for some reason. I mean I could eat an entire bag of the swedish meatball smothered in that ligonberry sauce. The price is right for chow chow time too. This reminds me I haven't been to IKEA in a few weeks. This is a waste of time and I'd be curious how many people abandon the stuff they took two hours to find because they can't devote another half-an-hour. We love this IKEA! The restaurant is wonderful and a great value. Also, on a visit there today we learned about all of their environmental sustainability efforts (e.g. solar panels on roof, garden onsite, tree planting offsets, use of recycled materials). For the most enjoyable experience, we do recommend going during a less busy time (weekdays, weekday evenings, etc.). Great value for the money. read more

Home Delivery Service : I decided to make my life easier and use the home delivery service, after taxes just over $63. I live 5 miles from store. delivery window was between 9am and 1pm - received a call at 1:05 from driver saying he will be 30 mins late and if that did not work he would reschedule - the guy was incredibly rude and flippant and sadly I now have to have him inside my home to deliver the goods late. IKEA is a good store but the whole home delivery experience has been terrible - from booking in the store and attitude of clerk to the delivery driver and service recieved. I would strongly not recommend using then for delivery - stick to their meat balls or shopping the store where you have less exposure to staff. read more

I only have one functional set of sheets, then I remembered Ashley's review. I envy folks moving into their first apartment, and can go to a place like this, and it not have to look like a dump. You can be as minimalist yet stylish as you want. I love the food section as well. I picked up some lox/salmon, and elderberry syrup. They also have it in blueberry and ligonberry. I add it to sparkling water, and fresh squeezed grapefruit. I got the idea from The Capitol Grille. The carry out bags are cheap and handy too. For once I didn't need to go upstairs, where you get dizzy for hours, and lost. On the way to the textiles is the kitchen selection. Many utensils are sold singly so you're tempted to just start grabbing randomly. I grabbed a mini hand cheese grater and cooking utensils caddy. Also there was a whole bin of salad spinners, and I really did need that one. Everything is just so cool looking. Yet another addiction. read more

Save yourself the trouble and choose a different store! I wont be going back to this Ikea. Upon looking for a specific item, one of the employees told me not to come in for specific items because their system is unreliable and often inventory is incorrect. I found this to be true as I have called ahead to make sure an item was in stock, more than once, and the item was never there even though the system showed 17 items were in stock. I asked for assistance ordering the item because I did not care to pay for shipping at that point. When the package arrived I found that the employee charged and shipped me for the wrong item. When calling the store, often it says that they are busy assisting other customers and can not take my call at this time and will hang up. When walking through the store searching for this specific item, the shelf was still in the same condition from weeks ago. It is clear to me that restocking is not a priority at this Ikea. I tried to order another item through their Click and Collect as recommended by they customer service center. The Twin cities Ikea replied stating, "unfortunately all of your items are out of stock." How many items are out of stock at this store? Due to the lack of customer service, system inaccuracies and overall store neglect I will not be returning to this Ikea. The saga continues as now they have not refunded me for the item I ordered through Click and Collect. I called the customer service center again because I was unable to get though to the store directly. All customer support did was transfer me to the Twin Cities store where an employee told me that sometimes the transaction will not show in my bank statement over the weekend. I ordered the item on Monday. It was Friday. I pointed this out to the employee that it had been 5 days and I still haven't received my money back. He just repeated himself. The incompetence of this employee along with the stupidity of this situation gives me no faith that I will get my money back. You've been warned. read more

I'm a big fan of this store, we make special trips up to the cities just to shop here. If you have to get things for a dorm room or for your apartment this is where to go. They have acres of housewares and furniture for very affordable prices and the neat thing is its all designed to fit in your car. We bought a futon and several pillows. Their housewares is really nice, and you can't believe the bargains. There is little or no floor help so you are pretty much on your own. You just grab a big yellow bag and tags and go downstairs and pick up you items from a warehouse like area. Checking out reminds me of Sams club same type of arrangement. read more

I visited this location on Tuesday evening and had a lovely time going through the store and selected some fun summer items. However I had to abandon my would be purchases after waiting in a non-moving checkout line for 15 minutes.
